What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I tried forcing a patina with instant coffee, this is the result. The smaller one (nr 8) is new, the nr 10 has been with me some years. After I loaned the 10 to someone who left it soaking in the kitchen sink it needed some renovation so I thought to try something new. Both knives handles are bathed in oil and waxed, I packed the pivot areas with petroleum jelly. These are both very sharp as my thumb can testify. I must say I really like Opinel knives, I plan to get a nr 5 and mod it.

Love.the black that coffee makes.. 👌👌👌.....I used wet coffee grinds and got the same color......except blotchy because it was in the grinds and gravity aided in making the tip the blackest...😝

That Buckeye Burl is outstanding, Railsplitter Railsplitter I gotta get some of that. Is that a custom order?
Thank you. Yes, it was ordered from Buck’s Custom Shop but unfortunately, they took Buckeye Burl off the menu 3 or 4 years ago. I was able to snag this 503 and a 505 in Buckeye Burl but I wish I could have gotten a 112 too. Thought I had time for that but I was wrong.

Carried the HSB sleeveboard whittler the past two days, wood handles, maybe ebony (?), don't know. It's slim, has firm pulls and good blade snap and a nice selection of blades for EDC.
I'm pocketing the copperhead for todays carry once I'm out of the pajamas.

Stag/Horn Knife of the Week is a GEC #85 with horn handle (thanks, Paul). Although I had no experience with this pattern (from any maker), the first time I ever saw a photo of one, I thought, "Now THAT'S a jackknife!"

Work Knife of the Week is my first knife from about 1960, a Colonial Forest-Master. I'm not a good photographer, but I'm better than I used to be at knife photos. Below are my first knife photo, taken on a MacBook camera, and my most recent photo of the Forest-Master, taken with a Canon PowerShot SX110 IS point-and-shoot model that my wife bought at least 15 years ago and I've been using for about 12 years.

A bit of sun to start the day here in the City by the Bay 🌥️. Rained hard last night and is supposed to rain again later. Gotta get my post up as PG&E is shutting off the power to replace a power pole. Supposed to take until mid afternoon but we’ll see 🤷. Anyway these two for Wooden Wednesday. Have a great day folks! 😀

It's orange again today - this time a Sod Buster Jr. People in this area have been praying for snow to increase our snow pack so we'll have water through the spring and summer but Lordy, Lordy, the man turned on the snow angels and forgot to turn them off. Shoveled snow evey couple hours yesterday and found this morning that the snow angels gifted me another two inches overnight. My shoulders are exploding. Hash and eggs for breakfast.
