Hope you get well soon! I've been through a few surgeries and recovery sucks, but work hard and you'll see results.I have not carried a knife in exactly one week. Or much of anything else.![]()
Last Thursday I received a total knee replacement. Started physical therapy the next day, and have my third session in three hours. First time putting on blue jeans instead of sweat pants, so to celebrate, I stuck two faithful old knives in my pocket.
Still quite a ways from being cleared to drive, so no reason not to be taking pain meds. I need them. First, I'll need to be able to walk without my walker before worrying about driving.
I put this off knowing we were getting a GSD puppy. Unfortunately, now at 9 mo. and 80 lb, and filled with puppy excitement at seeing Daddy, I cannot be in the same room with him til I get stronger.
Cut way back on my garden plans because of this, but worked like crazy getting some essentials planted while I still could.
Guess the responsible thing to do right now is practice guitar!And read some books. And take some naps.
And do my PT exercises

Yikes! Get well soonest! I have one of these looming in my future (doc told me she'd rather have me talk to a surgeon next time instead of more cortisone in the knee).I have not carried a knife in exactly one week. Or much of anything else.![]()

Lovely knives, too. The patina, the wear on the bone, that sexy awl. Just perfect.
May as well git 'er done, Tyson.Yikes! Get well soonest! I have one of these looming in my future (doc told me she'd rather have me talk to a surgeon next time instead of more cortisone in the knee).
1. Way worse than a hip, at least as far as pain and time getting backIt did
Heal fast Jeff
Everybody I know who has had a knee replacement have been in agreement:
1. Its unpleasant;
2. PT is crucial;
3. Its worth it.
Thanks!
On Tuesday, my PT told me I am pushing harder and regaining full range of motion faster than any other knee patient she's worked with
Sure hope it wasn't her first day
May as well git 'er done, Tyson.
I had a cortisone shot. I could feel it kick in as I walked out to my car.
It was gone by the time I got home.![]()

Thank you!I hope you have a speedy recovery Jeff.
I just had a cortisone injection in my left knee on Monday. The joint is fine, but I get calcium deposits on my meniscus, and after a while, walking gets really painful. There's really no surgical fix., so when the Tylenol quits working, and my daily walks get too painful, it's time for another injection. The shots last me well over a year.
Thank you! Must confess my main priority is not overtaxing the patience of my incredible wife. She's taking care of me, our daughter, a rambunctious puppy, all the cooking, even watering my tomatoes.Jeff it appears that you have your priorities straight! Stick to them (especially the naps) and get well soon!
