Thanks Duane. I might have done a bad thing....

Oh, that's a candle holder by the way. It casts some great shapes.
I thought maybe something along those lines  A bad thing you say...did this new one take your heart by storm? No harm in that.

Speaking of storms, the wind is howling, the rain lashing down in sheets, thunder crashing all around, me thinks another cup of coffee is in order...Ebony and Ivory today...

Why not use the Saddle Horn that your father gave you? It would be a shame to let it sit in a box.

It's a little thin for me honestly. If I bought a two blader the handle would be wider which would make it more comfortable. One of the reasons I love the Sodbuster; it's got a hefty handle. :)

I wanted a lockback whittler but couldn't really afford one so I made one for myself,or at least something that vaguely resembles a proper one!

Very impressive. It's my understanding that the lockback whittler is one of the most challenging patterns to make. I'd love to see some more photos if you get a chance.

Sure it could. Build a fire for more heat, maybe build a press to force the coffee through....... ;)

I guess I was just whining a little due to lack of the morning cup at that point. Maybe I need greater harmony between the knife and coffee equipment, i.e. a French knife to match the French press. Calling Opinel....:D

Went with Case today.

the springs are hard to get right, and they gave me some trouble but I was lucky enough to get plenty advice from a fella ;) who has made just a few more knives then me(Tony Bose)Tony was very tolerant and patient when dealing with an endless stream of sometimes foolish questions from myself lol there are not many people who would go so far out of their way to help someone they have never met!

Thanks Jeff and Sam!!

How's the linen micarta holding up? I've got a GEC #42 on order with that cover.

That'll be a fine knife!

It's picking up a few scratches but I'm not coddling this one. It's going to fit the 'work EDC' slot so, in the pocket and no polishing is the order of the day! hence choosing micarta.

I have already had the pleasure of handling a viper. It makes me even more eager to get my own in the mail. I know I like the longer handle but the upsweep on the swayback does feel different in hand. I know my hayn helper is an entire delrin scale thicker then the viper. My hand was very pleased with the thinner feel of the viper. I am lookimg forward to putting one through the paces :)

I know I will regret not picking up a micarta down the road. You got one of the great ones Sam, enjoy :)

Thanks Jeff, I'm seriously tempted by a Hay n Helper as a work knife.....

My old man gave me a Case Saddle Horn for Christmas (single blade) but I am thinking of picking one of these up for everyday carry. How do you like it?

It's a great knife and an easy carry. All of the production Case/Bose knives I have seem to be a cut above Case's regular production knives in fit and finish. I have the 6.5 bonestag rendition of this pattern as well and find it hard to choose between the two. This one is slimmer but the other gives a better grip when cutting with force. You can't go wrong with either one.

Got a couple o' new knives in the mail today. Kind of surprised that this is the one that I dropped in me pocketses... :)
