What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Nice knife, Quoddy! And enjoy your hike. Is that all the 14ers?

I was raised in New England and moved to Colorado back in the early 90s. Nice place. You won't want to leave.

I'll be hitting a lot of the 14ers. The highest point on the actual trail is 13,334, but I'll also be leaving the actual trail to climb the two highest, Mt. Elbert (14,440) and Mt. Massive (14,421) among others.

Today I carried my Wenger SI, just because I haven't carried it in forever, and I must say, what a solid feeling, tough work pocketknife!! I forgot just how hefty and substantial these guys are. Having carried my Vic Cadet and Super Tinker for so long, I just took the SI for granted, but man, I can't see how anyone could feel underknifed with one of these. No wonder these Alox patterns are so popular and why so many people swear by them, including our very own Jackknife. I don't know how they stack up to the "Demo" knives issued in the Army years ago, or to the old Scout/Camp knives, like the Remingtons, but this sure does feel like a tank. How can I not have carried this in so long?

Have a weedding to go to tonight so went with stag, case stockman and A.G. Russell Arkansas Toothpick.

Heading out for a three-day weekend in the woods with my dad, the wife and our three kids. Still sticking to the spirit of The Experiment, I'll be toting just my Case ss peanut, pocketworn with harvest orange bone handles.

My hats off to you. Still with the experiment, and getting by with one knife. I don't know if I'm brave enough to head out in the woods with just a peanut, no fixed blade along. I'd be tempted to stick a mora or other small sheath knife in a day pack "just in Case".

Okay, bad pun.:o

I keep straying with my Victorinox cadet 2, peanut, Buck cadet. But I keep comming back to the SI because I can't resist the Sherman tank feel of solidness. Even though all my other knives do the job with no problem, the Wenger is the one that if it's in my pocket as I leave the house, I feel like I can deal with anything that happens.

It even beats out the old scout knives of my youth. The Remingtons like Mr. Van carried were very fine knives, making the SI look like a plow horse at the Kentucky Derby. Beautifully flat ground blade and super keen edge that stayed sharp longer, but it did not have the "come hell or high water" feel of the Wenger.

The Wenger is the knife that all my other knives rotate around. I may carry any of my other knives, but the Wenger will always be on my person.

Well the TL-29 found its way back into my pocket today. Only This time it chose the pruner shown a few posts back, to go along. Two really great workers.

Have a great day

I am carrying my my Case Stag peanut, Ok so I said that it seemed small, well it has grown on me. Not that I don't carry other things as well on certain occasions, but I seem to be putting one of my Peanuts (yeah they seem to multiply) in my pocket most days. Steven

Splurging a little today:

Carrying two Blade Show hauls (as well as the ever present Carson lockback).

As is always the case they are in my pocket, but there is a vic classic right in the stand of my monitor at work. (next to a hockey puck)

My new one today. I can't get over the character of this knife or pattern I don't know which or what it is about it.

Well, with a three-week-old baby, a 3-year-old and a 5-year-old in tow, I don't expect much of a survivalist adventure. We're staying in rustic (but really nice - has wifi!) inn up in the mountains and taking walks close by, where the paths for the most part are level and mellow enough for a stroller. :D I expect I'll whittle two or three hotdog sticks, trim a stray string here or there from shirts or sweaters, maybe eviscerate a piece of fruit.

Today was interesting, in that I felt realy old school and folksy. I carried my Bone Stag Peanut, which in itself was a pretty folksy thing to do. However, I also carried my Father's day present from my mother, and it was all sorts of cool. Ya'll have discussed on here how the old timers got by with a small pen knife or peanut because they had little tools to compliment it, like a P-38, or pocket screwdriver ring. Well, my mother got me a Swisscard, and it is awesome. It has scissors, a magnifying glass, a pen, small pocket screwdriver set (with five different sized drivers), small knife, tweezers, and needle. It's all in a credit card sized package. This is awesome. Now I can carry ANY traditional pattern, and still have the convenience of a small tool kit right in my back pocket. Folksiness to the max. Happy Father's day to me.

Had yard work to do today so went with the Schrade.

OH by the way I did not take the pic. A good photographer did.

I'm down to just a Camillus demo, an old Kutmaster stockman that I use as a beater around the house, and EDC for today, my Victorinox blue Huntsman. Big thanks to Revolvergeek for that one, I really like it.

I took the time to include the old tin I carry with me in this picture. (forgot a lot of other stuff I carry though)
Its been just the trusty vic pioneer for me today.
