What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Had to add another one to the mix today:

Ooh you lucky begger! I thought that particular flavour of BRKT had all but been gobbled up! That's an especially nice one too, how does it handle?

Sam

Thanks. I snatched that one up as soon as they came out. It's a really great EDC. Slim and light, with just enough handle.

And it pairs nicely with the rest of the family :D :

Quite the collection of BRK's Smithhammer, and the new one is a great addition. :thumb up:

I'm carrying my new Northfield #22. I had asked Barry (gunstockjack) to pick out a nice one in cocobolo for me, and I'm very happy with what he sent me. The pull is probably a 4 or 5, which to me is ideal on such a small knife. The walk and talk are very nice and the fit and finish are excellent. My picture doesn't really do it justice as I couldn't get the orange striations in the cocobolo to show up, but they are quite vivid.

Excellent grain on that Coco Stephen, rich choice looking.

I'd like to get one of these in that White Bone or maybe an acrylic, but how do you find the size? I certainly don't have large hands but I hesitate to get one of these 22s as it could be just too dinky&tiny for credible use. Looks broad enough mind, like its stablemate the 25.

Thanks, Will

I really like how they squared off the Northfield version.

Definitely a small knife, but to me, not 'delicate'. It's very similar in size and feel to the Pemberton, but to me feels quite a bit smaller than the 25. I carry it in my watch pocket and it absolutely disappears there. While I think its capable of handling most day-to-day household and office chores, it probably wouldn't be my first choice for more demanding tasks. That said, its very handy when you want to carry something small and non-threatening as it has an almost novelty appearance (my wife has a phobia about most of my knives, but thought this one was 'cute'). I apologize that my answers aren't more definitive, but this knife is probably on the borderline for a lot of folks, and is one that you'd likely have to handle yourself to determine if it'd meet your needs. If you're familiar with the Pemberton though, and are okay with its size, you'll probably be okay with the Magnum too, even though it is ever so slightly smaller. I hope this is of some use, and best of luck with whatever you decide.

For me the 22 has spurred kind of an aha moment. It is tiny, 2-5/8 closed, but has been all I needed for most things for the past week of carry. It is very small, so small that I prefer back pocket carry cause its a bit slow fishing it out of my watch pocket. I think it could be used pretty roughly, it doesn't feel flimsy in the slightest to me. I think the thing holding it back from more heavy cutting is the pen blade, on such a small knife it is very noticeable and the grip is much more comfortable with it out of the way. I was wary of paying so much for such a small knife, and I do still carry a larger knife much of the time, but I definitely think it's worth it. It is perfectly constructed, very nice, and I use it more than any other because (as said above) it has a cute/novelty look rather than scary.

Beautiful coco on that Magnum, Old. A shame it's just too small for me, that's the one I would have wanted.

I'm enjoying carrying this willgoy gifted Boker USA pen today.

As has so often been discussed and if we examine what we actually DO with a pocket knife 99% of the time... A 2" cutting edge will get the job done quite handily for the vast majority of us. So whether it's a #22, a Tiny Trapper, Baby Butterbean, Pemberton or a Peanut you'll get the job done just fine for routine day to day tasks.

I have a Pemberton and two Peanuts and love them. :)

For Passover week, I'll be carrying this Lamb Foot. (not a paschal lamb, but still seems appropriate to the season :) )
Plus the little Schrade jack, for little jobs.
