What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Nice Halfrich Elliot, like how simple that blade is and I bet it's super user friendly too.

Hi Blues. Well she's a few years old but still this side of 2000 (unfortunately I can't say much beyond that), bought her when I didn't want to use the 80T. Through use the last
couple months she's starting to develop a nice patina. The handles are great too :D; mind you there have been a lot of very nice knives in this thread.

Thanks, Dave.

Some of these German stock knives have really great stag. Much more figure than you find on many of the domestic stag production knives.

Here's a couple images of the Eye Brand I was mentioning to you. Haven't been carrying it lately due to the heat and lighter clothing but it's a good one in carbon steel:

Thanks... The thing that gets me (besides how light a package it is) is just how very "clean" the grind is. Check the swedge, the edge and the overall look and symmetry of the blade. I know you can't feel the fit and finish in terms of the snap and centering but it's every bit the equal of the look. I never thought I'd fall for a linerless carbon fiber traditional like I have.

That is one awesomely gorgeous Stockman there Elliot. Come to Australia, being winter you'd be able to carry it again :D.. I do like/prefer carbon steel,
though stainless does have its places....

That sounds like a bloody good idea, mate.;)

I don't get what you mean Elliott, you ought to send it here so I'll know what you're talking about.;)

Just can't seem to keep this one out of my pocket most days since the Blade Show...it's addictive...

Jerry must be doing something right!...

OMG  Thats Carbon Fiber....

Just kidding :D That is a sweet lookin knife. Nice combination with the shield. I like the blade shape too.
It may break from traditional materials, but there really is something cool about the look of CF

Elliott, that is absolutely one of the nicest stag handles I have ever seen on a production knife! You have a real gem there.

I got lucky on two fronts with that...first that the knife was available, second that the dealer was willing to pick one out that met my parameters.
(I was looking for stag with good figure but that didn't exhibit the trait common on many German knives of having very thick scales, especially toward the center of the knife.)

Thanks for the good words.:cool:

Rough Rider 66. For 'just Chinese' it's a great knife, on par with any production lockback knife. I like it more than my buck 110...

Being a fan of the Folding Hunter and seeing these in 1095 steel, I had to try one out.

With all this Zulu/Tribal Spear frenzy going on, I though I'd carry my 4" (integral) John Howser in ATS-34 & German bone. From the 2009 Blade Show:

Elliott that Howser is awesome.

I know it's off topic, but can you tell me what that shield is called?

How can it be off topic if you're asking about the knife, Rob? ;)

I'm not rightly sure, but I consider it a modified "cloud" shield. It sort of splits the difference between a cloud and propeller shield imho.

Maybe someone else has a better thought on this.

Thanks Elliott. I was asking Kerry the other day if he knew where to get a picture of different shields with their correct names, he didn't know of any.
