What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks Sarah. Happily the pull on my coping blade is manageable. Not light by any means but definitely not a nailbreaker.

Ah, good.

Mine thwarted me for some time, with the memory of Bill Howard and Chris Tucker easily opening both blades in front of me, repeatedly, serving as extra Tease and motivation.

But you're right about the #26s being tricky. I had to lightly oil and exercise the main blade a little to get it to do what I wanted. Thankfully, that wharncliffe shape provides plenty of purchase to pinch open.

I did the same (oil, exercise, exorcism), and also appreciate the pinch-ability of the main blade.

Please educate me as to what a false wharncliffe blade might be:confused: :)
Linus

I consider a "true" wharncliffe to have a consistent arc from tang to point. That doesn't make the others "false," but ... different.

A post from Jeff that illustrates this:
I prefer the fully rounded top line, like on this swayback jack.

This style of Wharncliffe (that's what GEC calls it) is more of a sheepfoot with a slightly softened spine radius.

GEC's #25 and #25 wharncliffes, differences as per above:

(My coined term; Case calls this a Wharncliffe). ;)

A feast of wharncliffes (although sadly many of the photograph links are now broken):

Thank you Paul, Eric's Jack was a nice surprise and a truly great knife.

Today is a Sean O'Hare Finback HT, with Sean's own damascus forged from L6 and O1 into 672 layers with a shallow raindrop pattern, and a stunning Desert Ironwood handle, along with a DE Cattle from Tom Ploppert. Sheath was made for me by the talented Paul Long, with full quill ostrich inlays. One of the finest bottle openers I have ever used, the head is from Germany and Vince handled it in maple burl and Sambar stag.

Have a great Sunday!

Loving the HJ6, such a wonderful knife. It's been partners with my dad's old Boker small serpentine jack. I think they make a terrific pair.

Oeser and Barlow today...

Great team Paul*

Talking of which, hope you and the missus have a very happy anniversary. Happy anniversary to you too Gary :)

Here is "our" carry today. My daughter's Moonpie knife (keychain tool) - a very generous gift from ALLHSS - and my peanut (which she has claimed as her own as soon as she is old enough).

and now after the Moonpie knife is out of the package - she's just a little bit excited!

Thanks for making her one happy little girl, Logan!

Great stuff :)

I've had these three with me today.

* - Doh! Sorry Paul, I somehow managed to lose your great pics!

The Owl and the Pussy Cat.

Great picture and one of my kitties is marked very similar, only mine is black in the spots where yours is black-brown!:eek::)

Tony Bose visited another thread earlier today and made a comment about the Case/Bose WT, per Tony "You should belly up and get one. Best everyday knife out there I think."

I figured that out myself but it's nice to have some confirmation.

Thanks for the kind words, Gev and Prim. I'm not really a single blade guy, or I'd carry the Toole a lot more often.
