What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I'm still carrying my #15 Boy's knife at work but had to buy this stockman so I don't completely ruin a nice bone one and cant stand a gas station special or one of those flip open style razor blades. My new job is pretty messy as I work around epoxies, paint and a host of other knife destroying goodness. I took this picture after using it at work for only a few days, it might not look that bad but so far it has a pretty good layer of goo accumulating all over. I even cleaned it with acetone at the end of the day. I'm pretty interested how this knife is gonna hold up. Hopefully I can remember to take more pics as this knife's relentless beating progresses.

You should take a picture of it in the same position at the end of each week and then at the end of they year you could compile all the pictures into a time lapse style video.

Stephen, thanks for the link...I grew up with two older brothers and my oldest brother had a profound influence on me music wise, Jerry Jeff Walker, John Prine, Earl Scruggs and Lester Flatt and I could name ton's of other artist but Bluegrass was a huge part of my upbringing:thumbup:

One album I played out I believe was titled, The Earl Scruggs Revue:thumbup:

Knife content: loved your carry today:D

Thank you Jennifer and Ribeyeguy, day one of the new job was great, and the Silver Knight is a sentimental favorite (a gift from a fellow forumite).

Thanks a lot for the video. Really like that song! Found myself listening to the whole thing. You have great contributions here.

Todd - Thanks! Your Oeser is fantastic and I never get tired of looking at it. Maybe one day I'll luck into finding one for sale at a price that I can afford. ;) For what it's worth, my user name (Old & In the Way) is both a reference to how I was feeling the day I signed up and also a collaboration band that I really like. Great music, Stephen! Moon light ...Midnight...

Paul.... Foggy Mountain Breakdown...some fine picking there

Great knives, gents;)

So many beauties today...just enjoyed the journey everyone!!

Something about this old Keener that makes me feel good.

It makes me feel good to look at it too - beautiful bone and I like the leather additions for your old watch!!;):)

Hello!

Gorgeous knives, everyone! Always fun to watch!

Today, I had the middle one of these three with me (another variant of THE local folder pattern, the Trattenbacher Taschenfeitl, dating back to medieval times). Very crude and simple knives, but sometimes this can be fun too.

Beautiful Alex !! :thumbup::)

Nice knife Rob - I would like to see the progression as well.;):)

Thanks a lot Primble... I love that spear point monster you showed us earlier as well.

Thank you Todd. :thumbup::)

I made it just for you, Primble ;):D I was always hesitant to carry it but not now. All that leather talk and the Barry challenge thrown your way and all...and of course all those magnificent sheaths you display.

I have a long way to go...sure wish Barry was giving lessons.

WOW - did not know you made it - if that was your first try - maybe you need to give lessons.:D

Todd - I'm glad that you enjoyed the music, and likewise appreciate your contributions to the forum.

Paul - As Gevonovich referenced, Scruggs picking, especially on Foggy Mountain Breakdown, is legendary. My grandfather played 3-finger banjo, or Scruggs style, until his fingers became too arthritic. I still fondly and vividly remember sitting on the back porch of his home in Virginia when I was a young kid and listening to him and his friends playing. Happy memories. :)

As for knife content, no pictures yet, but I plan to carry something tomorrow that just might give our good friend Primble a small twinge of jealousy which only seems fair after all the beautiful Charlow photos he's been posting lately. ;)

Lots of beautiful knives again, this thread gets better and better :)

My Grail was in my pocket today...

Queen DB Barlow - man, I love that knife :)

Lovely Andi

Jack - I really enjoyed seeing your most recent carry choices! :)

Thanks my friend :)

Jack Black - Can you tell me more about the first lovely knife in your post today. Can't quite make out the stamp. Thanks.

Hi Jennifer, thanks for your interest :) The Sleeveboard was sent to me by Old & In The Way. It carries the name R.Kelly & Sons, Liverpool, England. Stephen has done some sterling detective work, and it seems that Kelly's was a successful Liverpool hardware business, established in 1875, the knife being made in Sheffield. Another couple of shots:

Smashing Paul

Today (this whole week so far, actually) I'm carrying my factory 2nd TC Barlow:

It didn't really come through in the picture, but the bolsters on this one are developing an interesting greyish patina. It really is aging handsomely, in my opinion.

Very nice Dan, I also have a factory 2nd Charlow, and I reckon it'd still put a lot of other manufacturers to shame!

Another  on that pouch Gev :)

THat's a fancy one Alex, very nice

Newly arrived, so it needs a few days in the pocket. Enjoying it so far.

Jack - thanks for the additional information on the Sleeveboard. Simply a lovely knife.

The little ones tagging along while I walked my big girl to school!
