Just got this one, it went straight into my pocket.

A-ha! Two great jack knives, the #77 and #78 (yes?).

I'd love to hear your impressions of them in comparison to one another, the similarities and differences in such seemingly-equivalent knives. I posted my initial thoughts here in a Yankee Jack (#77) thread, with a confirming addendum this past week:

I had the opportunity to compare my #77 with a #78 Jack head-to-head (and back-to-back) last week end, reinforcing my impression that the #78 packs more substance into its slightly larger frame-- it's a heavier knife, subtly but pervasively so. Whether or not that is a plus or a minus is definitely a matter of individual taste, of course.

My own #77 is in my pocket today:

I still give it glowing reviews. ;)

I'll post my thoughts after I carry them for a couple weeks. Right off the bat I noticed the longer pen on the 78 which I like but I like how the pen is in the back on the 77, lol. They're both me preferred size and thickness so it will be interesting to see if I prefer one over the other.

These two masterfully crafted knives by Jerry Halfrich are with me today. Both in old growth redwood burl(hard to capture the beauty and chatoyance of this wood), Jack Russell in M4 tool steel, heat treated by Jerry to 62 RC and a Hidalgo with Mike Norris stainless damascus(19C27, 302ss, and D2), Hornet's Nest pattern. Paul Long sheath. Have a great weekend everyone.

I Have not seen this AG Russel before. It just says "hard user with flair" to me. Thanks for the look

thanks Gevo! :) Lots of blade for its size, slim, pinchable, and sharp enough out of the box where I didn't even bother to touch up the edge :) The Rancher, in rosewood.

Got back from a long exam period today, had a package from our forum member Sugarleaf with this #25 easy open in stag. Threw it in the pocket with my 2014 forum knife, can see this being a winning combination.

Those craftsman keychain screwdrivers really come in handy. I keep mine on my key ring and use it all the time on the hose clamps on our research planter at work
