Did you get to pick this one in the flesh so to speak?

It's one I keep meaning to get hold of while they're still available but always seem to end up with another GEC instead. Your photo might be just about to change that...

Thanks! Jack Black's recently started Old Friends Friday thread inspired me to carry it again, and I'm so glad. I've always loved the knife, but getting it out and then photographing it for today endeared it to me all over again.

I ordered mine sight unseen, and gave no special instructions to the vendor; I assume they simply shipped out the proper, boxed item without peeking.

I just really lucked out! However, at the time I bought mine, all the SBJs seemed to be of uniform quality, ie, consistent dye jobs and delectable jigging. A short time later I began to see an increase of examples with poor(er) color retention in the bone covers, etc. I'm not sure which is the norm?
