What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Another knife beautified in Primble fashion. Great work and thanks for showing the before and after. The transformation is impressive.

Mr. Primble, I have to say that your spirit of restoration and wabi-sabi is very welcome. Far too many collectors and enthusiasts will turn their nose up at anything in that sort of condition, but the gentle touch can really bring out diamonds in the rough. Bravo!

Stepping out with the misses tonight, I am a lucky man to have such a great woman. Hold your loved ones tight and have a great evening folks,

MT DAMASCUS: Re your fixed blade knife---: Love it! Love the nice wood grain.

Pertinux - thanks for your reply, you have a great old friend there, great photo too :)

I hope to be half as lucky fairly soon with what will be my first Case knife.

Carrying the 2014 forum knife today, can't seem to leave it alone!

Grandpa's Camillus Sword Brand knife today. Carried it yesterday for the first time and enjoyed it. Slid it in the pocket again today.

Sorry to spam my Schrade here but I went outside with my DSLR and finally got some good pics that are representative of this beautiful red bone...

Beautiful Schrade, tstaut!:thumbup: What's the closed length? It looks really long to me, but maybe it's just very slender. ;)

Kris, your stag Damascus whittler is INCREDIBLE!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup: Your wife must be an AMAZING woman to get "top billing" over that visionary knife!! :D:D

I spent the better part of the day with these two Barlows, which arrived here at 9:00 a.m. this morning. I went to work on them immediately. I had to re-profile blades on both knives and finally got them up to Primble specs by late afternoon. I then added a re-patina on the blades of both the old Robeson and the old Schrade Cut. Co. Barlow:

I normally never show a before picture, but, since this Schrade was way rougher than anything that I normally purchase, I thought the after was drastically different from the before condition:

Primble, I think I've mentioned this before, but you're my hero for the way you can rescue an old knife!:D:thumbup:
That's my goal - to find old used but fairly solid knives that I can clean up and put back into service.
(You must have made quite an impression on EARL during his visit; did he send his brother to stay with you?? ;):D;))

5K Qs, catalogs say 4" but it sure feels and looks more like 4.25" Still it's very slender and feels great in the pocket.

My goodness, that transformation is truly stunning! Magician-like. :hypnotysed: :applause:

Amazing! Cleaned up nicely.

Thank you for all of the nice comments. I was very happy with the results. Stephen - I have to admit that I was challenged when I first saw the old Schrade in person. Thanks to the sturdy build of the ole knife, there is plenty of blade thickness left, even after all that rust was removed. ;):)

Earl begged to be Primble-ized when he stayed here with my other old Barlows, but, I wouldn't have any part of it. I told him - never in a hundred years - that I was afraid of what Dr. Frankenstein might do to me !!! It was, however, his visit that put me on the hunt for an S bolstered Schrade Cut. Co. Barlow - Earl's brother will have to do. :D

Thanks for the compliments. These three are with me this morning, after a lucrative night at the brewery.

Haven't learned how yet. Recently acquired old Hen &Rooster congress. Stag handled. Just took a very light touch-up to the blades to have it suitably sharp. Still looking to steal a Case/Bose lockback whittler. I paid less than half the going price of the whittler for the H&R, so i am pretty happy for now.

Nice as always, Kris! Don't spend all those Beer tokens in one sitting, unless someone else is driving!
