What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Paul,

Great STJ! I believe some of the earlier models came with a notch for the pen.

Because of your good taste in knives, i'll let you slide on your poor taste in football teams.

Jim

There's absolutely nothing wrong with Paul's taste in football teams. :D

That one looks familiar. Did you get it from a nitwit up in the Northeast?

Very cool. My dad and I worked in a paper mill most of my life. We always had advertisement knives like that from the various felt companies we dealt with. One day I hope I can find some of them. Thanks for bringing back good memories.
You are welcome. Got that little fella off the bay. I see them a lot over there.

:) Thanks! Sounds like we're having similar weekends. I haven't done much more than relax so far, but I do plan to take the kids for a hike this afternoon. Aside from that, I spent a fair bit of time yesterday researching two old Sheffield cutlers. Seems I can find bits and pieces, but it's been my experience that researching some of the old Sheffield makers can be akin to pulling teeth. ;)

Just to keep us on topic, here's a photo of one of my favorite knives which also happens to have been made in Sheffield:

I share your frustration with those Sheffield cutlers my friend! Let me know if I might be able to help out  Hope you enjoy your hike :)

That's a really beautiful IXL Whittler :)

Thanks Jack. Head down now with that Sheffield research.... Test in the morning;)

LOL! If you feel like having a look yourself...https://archive.org/details/sheffieldineigh00leadgoog ;)

This Openel DIY that Thom (Scruff) gave me. It fits perfectly in the leg pocket of my carpenter jeans. Great knife for fixit days...

I may have had this one in my pocket on Super Bowl Sunday.

Goes well with a traditional lugged steel bike.

And that was the best Super Bowl ever. Worth watching again. 👍🏈

You are correct in the notch Jim, I think they quit in 1980?

I'm not sure what you mean about "football teams" when there's only ONE real football team:D

^^^ Watch it Jim^^^;)

Peter
