Hey Paul, great photo, l really like the secondary spey blade.

I found this SEO&S Barlow on the big bid site for twentyfive and wish I knew more about cleaning a knife. I found it to be dated between 1880 and 1890 (hope this is right) because S.E. Oates added the & sons after his son was born around 1880. It has integrated bolsters and very hard snap, it also came razor sharp. Oh, and it measures 3 3/8". Thanks for your interest. :):D

This photo made my day. :D Love seeing the Tacklers knife in that setting. Just wonderful - thank you!:thumbup:

Mark - that Erickson is extraordinary.

Dave - more like "Beauty and the Beauty" to me. :)

I decided to mark Derby Day with this Peanut that was gifted to me by a good friend from the Bluegrass State.

Dave, I think the knife is at the perfect "clean" state as is...leave her as she sits cause she's awfully purdy now:thumbup:

Thanks Stephen, looks like you are set Derby Day. Ah, the famous knob creek and a beautiful peanut. There sure are some great people in the Bluegrass State, that's for sure.

Gettin' out the Fight'n Rooster 4-blade canoe for the rest of the weekend. Beautiful dark green bone should work for Derby Day.

Is he still alive?! Just kidding. GB just did 6 concerts in 5 days last month in Sacramento. Should be a lot of fun. Better leave Staggy in the car, they might have metal detectors like they do here...

That is a shock! But the best kind! Congratulations.
It was awesome, so much energy and so many classic songs. My thoughts as well on the metal detectors, but they actually didn't have any.

I carried the 2014 Stag Jack for a nice hike on Tussey Ridge today as well:

Cracking beer at a boat parade.

Looks like a great day Payton

Cool pic :)

Rotten weather here today, and I can't see me going out much. No excuse for shabby dressing though! ;)

Thank you Jack:) I learn something new here all the time, a Tacklers knife huh. I can't believe Stephen picked out the loom, knife and it's use. I had to look it up to find out what the heck a Tacklers knife is and found this:

"A Tackler is a job in the mills. The Ettrick shaped knives with the lambsfoot blades were used by tacklers and that is how the blade name came about"

Hope that is correct and very nice knives and pictures as usual Jack.

Thanks Dave, the knife was a very generous gift from Stephen, so he'd already done some sterling research :)

Tacklers were the fitters or mechanics of the mills. The blade is actually a Wharncliffe on a Swayback frame. Still made in Sheffield today
