What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Brown bone 1987 Case Camp Knife, I like the solid feel and Carbon Steel Blades, makes for a very useful utility knife.

I've always wanted that particular knife. I wonder if there are still any out there for sale. I know I have my Wenger SI, and some say the Wenger is a much better scout knife then... well, then just about any scout knife currently out there, but there is just something about the utilitarian look of the brown jigged handles, and the folksiness about it. That is what my Wenger is missing, folksiness. I love that Case.

That's pretty good lookin Stag on that one Fly Fisher. Did you hand pick it or just the luck of the draw?

Yes sirree texasflyfisher,

+ 1 on the Stag here too. Pretty elegant I must say. Nice one! How did you acquire that beauty?

Thanks guys.Yes, luck of the draw. I purchase it from knifeworks sight unseen plastic sealed in the tin. I was pleased with it as well. I had bought a Stag Jr Scout a couple of weeks ago and it had several hairline cracks on one side. I sent it in this week to Case mainly because the spring has very little snap to it but mentioned the cracks in case they can replace the handle, too.

Today I am carrying a pattern I didn't think I was going to like all that much but am very fond of now after getting it. It's a 6.5 Bonestag Peanut. Interestingly enough, even though it is smaller than the Sway Back Jack, the main blades have almost the same cutting surface and the thinner blade on the Peanut cuts through apples like butter. Very pleased with this lil' fellar. I like the half stops in both models, too.

Case full size Copperlock with traditional Turkish Clip blade (Tru-Sharp) and Autumn Bone handles. Loverly.

And what that Case is missing, El Cuchillo, is the handy extra screwdriver tip on the can opener. The lack of that has always soured me on the non-SAK scout patterns. (Though that is a hell of a nice looking Case!)

But then you have people like me who prefer the can opener on the Case enough that they don't miss the extra screwdriver tip. :D

And I agree, nice Case!. I have one a little bit older that I inherited from my grandfather. It has the longer style bottle opener/screwdriver and some extra thickness to make room for the length.

Seems to be a great knife Sam,

I just picked one up in a trade a while back and have used her around the house but have not carried her to date. I am going to edc her starting tonight to see how she carries.

So, Sam how do you like her??

I really like the Copperlocks. As a youngster I always wanted a Buck 110, but when I finally got one I found it too big for practical pocket carry. The Copperlock is nearly perfect. The right size and heft, but thin and light in the pocket.

I've had a CV Wharncliff yeller handled CL for a few years now, but just picked up the AB with the clip blade for something different. I really like Case's Turkish clip for both looks and functionality. This one is a beautiful implementation too, with a nice swedge and a long nail pull. Substantial, without being too thick for slicing. I give it a

Hey look, that's the Peanut I have!!

Just a Yellow Handled, carbon steel, Case Medium stockman. Those thin hollow ground blades tend to rust, but do take a razor edge.
