What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Rockgolfer, your pic pushed me to grab my pres. this morning.

5k q's, your KK looks great, so simple. My mission lately has been to track one down. I almost got lucky a few weeks back when I found a couple in knife shop, but they were both large trappers, my least favorate pattern and much larger than I like to carry.

Thought I'd have a change today and slip this old Joseph Rodgers Stockman in my pocket :)

Spent the last hour with these two instruments incising a tick head from my poor hound. Couldn't find any spare scalpel heads but the disinfected tip of this worked just as well. Bloody little buggers. Going to spend the day getting reacquainted with the viper.

Is that the exotic mexican bocote wood Markesharp? Just did a search online I've never seen a viper with that grain on bocote wood let alone the bar shield. Great pair~

Thanks Tim. It is Osage Orange that I put a little Mahogany colored dye on to bring out the grain. Love your peach seed jigged bone Viper! Tic's are bad this year.

Oh wow, I think I may do the same to mine now..looks amazing! Thank you as well. They're definitely a nuisance but he's extremely calm even when I've a blade to his head or skin

You are most welcome. I use Fiebings leather dye. It even works on Canvas Micarta.

I made both fixed blades and the top one I dyed the Micarta on

Here is the same knife (top) before I changed my blade design and dyed the handle

Those three are a doozy. The stag and that micarta are absolute winners. Thank you for the direction/insight on the dye. Going to use it for spoons as well. Can't wait to see Ryan post photos of the middle one up.

great looking nitebrite spearpoint Macchina, and that colourful patina going on.

Thanks!
I cut the stems off some strawberries and then cut up some blueberries, watermelon, and raspberries a few nights ago. I think each fruit patina'd the blade in a different color (yes, I washed it well).

I haven't posted here in a while. Here's my first traditional I bought myself, first GEC, and first Barlow. I've used this thing well, and it shows. There's a chip and some scratches in the bone, a couple dings and countless scuffs on the bolsters, and I've lowered the kick from having too heavy a hand on some sharpenings. Still looks, and cuts, great.

Great Photo jack, I love the Joseph Rodgers but I have not seen one I don't like.
