What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Totin' my trusty Coats EO today.

That's a beautiful piece by Ken, Rick.

Thanks Tim. This knife has been a constant in my EDC rotation since I got it from Ken nearly 4 years ago. I can't say that about any other knife.

... And I can't add anything to what I've said every time I see it (unless the word "perfect" was not in there, somewhere?). Always a treat. :)

Very nice! Is that a re-clad Victorinox (Mini Champ, perhaps)?

... Quintessential traditional pocketknives, the #15s.

Feeling old today so I figured I'd carry a pair of old geezers today...

Top is a Graef & Schmidt Swell End Jack early 30s to late 40s, smoky bone scales, this is a beautiful knife. When I found it it was rusted shut and covered in latex paint like someone dropped in the paint and put it away covered in paint. After I got it opened I saw the main spear blade was scalloped from where the previous owner used it to open paint cans and chipped out the blade.

I reground the blade and cleaned and oiled all the joints, surprisingly the back springs didn't lose its spring. This knife gave new meaning to the phrase "...road hard and put away wet." It was an abused knife that the original owner didn't deserve and I'm so glad I didn't trash it and rescued it instead.

The other is a favorite here already, a 1911-1913 Union Knifeworks NYC Moose pattern with jigged bone scales that I also rescued from the bottom of a rusty toolbox.

You gotta love rescue blades... ;)

I think you'll enjoy this one that belonged to my Grand'Pa, a former market porter , meat section, in Zola's "Belly of Paris". It had a tough life being at task daily for years and losing a few cm!
This one is pre 50s as there is no lock. Still razor sharp.

Wow wow wow - those are super nice! You are very lucky to have those.

I'm French, but not from France. I love visiting tho - great culture over there.

I just learned today that my wife's grandfather collected and sold pocket knives. Too bad I never got to meet him or see his collection.

I can't be sure, but I think he may have done that with a smaller one that was a promotional gift (#n°5, 7cm) from a "café" where he used to have his daily pre-lunch Ricard :D. For a while he had some time to kill when he was in a sanatorium after WWII.
I found these knives long after my own dad passed away and had never heard of them before.
The name in French for this kind of pivot (#n°12) is "virole à chapeau". It locks the same way as nowadays does.

The n°8 in the middle is another promo given by a gas company. Oh glorious days before petrol crisis with gas station coupons and premiums! LOL

Love the knives almost as much as the history - so cool. Thanks for sharing this with us.

It's been a lazy Saturday, after finally finishing moving my wife and I decided today was a good day to rest. I started out the day with this beauty. I haven't carried this one in probably 9 months. It was nice to get it up and running again:)

It didn't feel right leaving my tried and true 73 out of my pocket, so later in the day I swapped:D this ol gal will carry out the night and go to work with me tomorrow as usual:D:D

Ya'll have a wonderful night and God bless🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸!!!
