What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Bought this 73 in Osage Orange on the exchange. It had so much character I could not pass it up!
So it went straight into the Right Front pocket. :D:D:D I am posting late tonight as usual there is
a lot of great knives being Toted today :thumbup::cool::thumbup:

Ron I am usually not an Osage Orange wood fan but that one has changed my mind. Has the wood been (re)stained? I haven't seen one in that color before. Congrats, a real beauty.

Real nice wharncliff copper lock Gary, what scales are those chestnut or deep red bone or something else, case has so many bone covers/colors. With that "piano" you will always play sharp:p

Hah, good one, plays sharp ;) and those started out as Purple Haze, Rockon75 dyed them black but you can still seem some very deep purple within the bone.

Brett - In the last run there was several that I saw that had a darker hue when new. This wood will actually take on sort of a patina or darken with handling and use. I do not believe that this knife has had any stain applied. I got this one on the exchange from the original owner. He gave no indication that he had darkened the wood. The knife has been well taken care of. It is scary sharp. I really believe that this one has been carried and used daily in its short life. Which is exactly what I plan to continue doing. I love the 73 pattern! Have a great weekend :D

Victorinox OMEGA ... ya never know
Might have to remove the back of a pocket watch on the side of the road
And maybe make a sandwich ... (toothpick provided ... tweezers too)
Do what ya gotta do

Very cool Jim. Haha if you carried along an airtight casing with rubber gloves housing built in maybe I'd consider an omega SAK to remove the back of the casing to ;)

I believe it's their amber bone Rick, these show quite a bit more red/amber than mine do though.

Thanks" for the identification answer for Rick, that is the drawback to living on different continents, by the time the question is asked i am off line. Here is another picture of the two knives together, the TJ is new the "nut" i have had for a while but not carried often. Regards OMR.

Feeling old today so I figured I'd carry a pair of old geezers today...

Top is a Graef & Schmidt Swell End Jack early 30s to late 40s, smoky bone scales, this is a beautiful knife. When I found it it was rusted shut and covered in latex paint like someone dropped in the paint and put it away covered in paint. After I got it opened I saw the main spear blade was scalloped from where the previous owner used it to open paint cans and chipped out the blade.

I reground the blade and cleaned and oiled all the joints, surprisingly the back springs didn't lose its spring. This knife gave new meaning to the phrase "...road hard and put away wet." It was an abused knife that the original owner didn't deserve and I'm so glad I didn't trash it and rescued it instead.

The other is a favorite here already, a 1911-1913 Union Knifeworks NYC Moose pattern with jigged bone scales that I also rescued from the bottom of a rusty toolbox.

You gotta love rescue blades... ;)

Two beautiful knives Ted, and a great rescue tale

Cool pic Jake

Have a great Sunday everyone

I´m carrying this one today. CASE Large Stockman in Yellow Delrin

A mighty fine knife! Thanks Ed for that one.

The second of a couple of 'Stockmans' like this I have scored recently ... a basic tidy up and into the strides pocket .. no point in not using them. This one an S&R out of Sheffield

Today no programme, this SAK will be in my pocket just in case (could be its nickname :D).
It is standard part of the tool roll when I go riding.

That's a very cool SAK
Thank you. That's why I take great care of it. It is also a great change of the usual tee-shirts /badges/ mugs you get at rallies! I think they made less than 500 of it.

Very nice SAK, i only ever had one Norton, a 62 Navigator but many years ago i worked in a small factory behind a motor cycle shop owned by Eric Oliver and sometimes we would take in deliveries for him if the shop was shut, Eric was a lovely man and did not mind a bike mad teenager sitting on his new stock, in a strange coincidence i found myself working with his son in law some years later and it was from him that i bought the Navigator. Anyhoo back to the important stuff today i am carrying a brace of GECs.
