This great Queen split spring whittler was with me today...
Those are a superb pattern Andi, I have exactly the same knife and it's a firm favourite of mine. :thumbup: I prefer Whittlers over Stockman as I find they're better in the hand, less handful of blades feel sticking into you
Continuing the Whittler theme, two others particularly like are the Böker Serp Whittler with tapered backspring and GEC's recent 38 Grinling pattern with divided backspring (using brass spacer). Although a long frame the 38 gives satisfyingly large Clip with two decent secondaries that are so low set in the handle that you barely feel them when using the main blade, magnificent arrangement.

The Whittler is a great pattern. They (usually) provide three different blade shapes. So the utility as the Stockman is rather the same. I like the Queen #48 as it has the two "humps" on either side of the handle. This acutally gives a great feel in hand, whatever blades is used. The thickness of the handle due to the rather broad mainblade gives a great grip in hand. The Böker Whittler you sent me about one year ago is a great knife as well. It has a nice serpentine frame and feels as great in hand as it does with the Queen #48.
The Grinnlin Whittler, made by GEC, has also given me some attention to it. Seems to be a wonderful pattern as it shows a much "slimmer" handle shape at the smaller blade side. Must feel rather great in hand.

It was my first mammoth purchase. It's a 72 I acquired from Barry at gunstockjacks.
It is my understanding it's a mod but I'm not sure who did it. Perhaps he can enlighten us on who made it.
