* A special thanks to Stephen and Mark for two of these. :)

Going fishing for maybe the last time this year as the weather forecast looks to put an end to it and I will be bringing the boat home for the winter next week. :o

Those old knives sure have some beautiful bone.

Ken I really like that Bark River Gunny(?). The sheath is really nice also.

I love the pictures of your surroundings Jolipapa and Jack, always look forward to them. I also always look forward to whatever zany terms GT will use in his multi-comment posts!

I feel like I've been neglecting this one lately so I worked the edge on the strop a little to polish it back up and it's gonna go for a little ride today. (Older pic, rain and gloom outside didn't lend to taking a great one)

JP - thank you for that. My maternal Grandmother retired a Lieutenant Colonel as did my paternal Grandfather. My Grandmother met my Grandfather on Okinawa where she was a triage nurse; he retired a Master Sargent. My family haqs been in America for 401 years now, and we've fought in every major war. My Grandfathers were in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.

It's heartwarming to know there are people in the lands that they fought to protect who still respect, appreciate, and take the time to honor their sacrifices. You owe me a Kleenex.

It is public holiday today and I decided to have a stroll to enjoy the fine weather. On my way between Eiffel tower and Arc de Triomphe, on this commemoration day, I stopped at the United States Square where stands the Memorial to American Volunteers (WW1).

That's quite a lineage Joe. I'm always incredibly moved at the thought of how far those young men and women travelled to fight in defence of freedom, and how brave they were

At least two of my Great Grandfathers fell in WW1. One of my surviving Great Grandfathers was a professional soldier, a Colour Sargeant, who had previously fought in Africa. Both my Grandfathers fought in WW2, and my father was in the army just after WW2.

Thanks for posting that Jolipapa. My Paternal Grandfather was in the US Army Air Service in France during WW1.
Happy Veterans Day folks!
23 names of US volunteers in the Foreign Legion behind the memorial. There are memorials to the American Flying Corp and Lafayette Escadrille, outside Paris.
I love the pictures of your surroundings Jolipapa and Jack, always look forward to them.
 Glad you appreciate. It is always a pleasure .

Interesting photos JP, thanks. I remember stopping at the very spot back in 1978. Brave boys and girls all
Thank you. BTW, Jack , no need to guard the marmite with a knife, I swear I won't steal it! I guess you noticed I took an English knife today.

No sir, thank you :)

Here's one for ol' Wooden Wednesday, courtesy of Brett (KBA). Brett, I have not forgotten the coin - I'm just trying to find a decent one, maybe with something else ;)

I like this thread.

Today, I've got a "traditional" Buck 110 on my belt, in it's original leather sheath.

Clipped into my back pocket is my Benchmade Griptilian Tanto 553.
