What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Got it in today and pretty much immediately cut myself by having the knife open and walking into the screen door behind my apartment's windoor to take this picture. Turns out the dog has some bite yet...

Beautiful purple/blue patina! My Dog's Head was my first traditional, and still a favorite. Your bolster patina is much wilder than mine!

Sorry about the screen door. ;)

I wish I could take credit! It's a score from one of the BigBiscuit benefit threads, and the patina had already been established.

As for the screen door - that was just the knife's way of reminding me to be more attentive, even when sleep deprived. I'd only had it for an hour or so and it was already teaching me life lessons! This little guy is great.

Outside staining some railings today. That called for something reasonably indestructible,
a Taylor-Schrade Old Timer 93OT worked just fine.

Found a hollow spot in the wood where maybe termites were getting a start. Dug it out with the sheepsfoot. Smoothed it with the clip. Applied extra stain. No bugs found. Good boogie.

My first post to this side of the forum, but I've spent some time drooling over traditionals here. Here is what has been in my pockets this week. Queen 69 1/2 2 blade Barlow. Also an old plaid Richards.

Thanks, Jack and Ron, I'm fit as a fiddle now (although the fiddle is probably a little out of tune by now :p).
Jack, that's an exquisite pair with which to end the year! :cool:

Ron, you're a role model in the way that you'll get one more day out of that old "beater" before tossing it out with your 2015 calendar! :eek::D

Thanks for helping me end this year with a smile on my face, Will! :D

Best wishes to everyone for a safe, prosperous, and blessed 2016 filled with enjoyable knife-related experiences!!

Thanks for helping me end this year with a smile on my face, Gary! :D

Jeff, that Oeser is still a beauty. I hope you're doing well my friend.

Kris, you know how I feel about that Zscherny. Be careful on the ice and have a great climb. It's exciting to see that your Karl Anderson knife is in the finals on the Best Bowie thread in the Custom and Handmade forum. So glad I got to see that one.

Chris

Welcome to the porch, Dave. Those are some fine examples. Great looking Queen and I love that plaid!

still the 2014 blade forums knife, on the wise recommendation of the member ^ , just for a month

So glad it arrived safe & sound snd that you're happy with it. Enjoy & happy New Year!

Good to hear that you've got some high ground, Tom; December floods on the Mississippi don't seem "natural".
Thanks for the kind words about my photos. Knowing you're a "good scout", does this Rough Rider tempt you at all? ;)

Whoa, I didn't know they made a Scout, thanks GT :thumbup:

Happy New Year to all!

Very pretty ! :thumbup::)

Recycled picture of my 2015 Forum Knife :(

Thank you and Happy New Year my friend - nice forum knife too ! :thumbup::)

I need to get a piece of barn wood to take my traditional a photos. Looks so great!

:thumbup::D

Primble Thank you, at least some people know decent stag when they see it. Ron's all mixed up with his 'quite nice' remarks... I do believe it's because he's lost all perspective after refusing to hand in his Smooth Bone knives to my Knife Sanatorium for treatment and then showing off that filthy old Whittler:rolleyes::D

Got to say that IF I had to choose a Knife of the Year from this Thread (an impossible task you bray!) I'd opt for Primble's Crown Jack in Black Stag. It lacks nothing, superb beast.:cool:

All the Best for the Coming Year to all of you, Will

Thank you Will and quite the compliment on my old Crown Jack - most appreciated !!! Did I win anything? :eek::confused::confused::confused::rolleyes::D:D:D

Did a little grouse hunting today. Had some flushes, had some misses, but had lots of fun.

Nice Jake ! :thumbup::)

Last pics of 2015... it's been a pretty good year (blade-wise, that is!).

Mini NorthStar:

Beautiful Northstar !! :thumbup::thumbup::)

Lots of beautiful knives here at year's end. I got this in today and immediately put it in a pocket.

Wonderful Dean ! :thumbup::)

Beautiful pair to ring out 2015, Primble; the stag on your Crown Jack is voluptuous! :thumbup:

Nice to see an Old Timer at work Frank !!! :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::)

Can not remember ever seeing a more beautiful example of a Case Chestnut bone CV Swayback jack. Stunning knife and pic ! :eek::eek::thumbup::thumbup::)

Happy New Year everyone ! :) Back to the game - wearing my Bama Crimson Tide shirt from OW and cheering the tide on to the Championship. ;):D

That Ed J has good taste, doesn't he? Does the White Owl cut as well as it looks, Rachel?

- GT

Indeed. A funny thing about gifts: you might try out a pattern you wouldn't have chosen for yourself. I always thought that a spear main with a pen secondary is redundant, but the pen on this White Owl is so thin, with such a sharp little point, I find myself using each blade for different tasks.

I'm also liking the idea of your picking the carries of the week. I might need to start doing that instead of switching up daily. When I stick with a knife for a whole week, I bond with it more.

Wishing you all a very Happy New Year:thumbup:

Carried this long elusive "City Knife" today thanks to Tim aka Ryouchijtx. Tim indulged in some Shenanigans with fellow forum member Dean, aka RDaneel to make my eight year search for this knife possible. I've meant to post a BIG thank you to both of you before this but I finally found the time:o

Thanks Guys!!!
