What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

First day on BF, first pic: Just a soddie... but can you really say "just" a soddie? (c.2013, I brought an apple to work every day for 4 months after buying this one and cut it up)

Welcome to BF and congrats on a great knife (and a great lighter!). The sodbuster is my go-to when it comes to rough work.

Beautiful pic Dan

Thanks for the canoe compliment, Jack; that may be my favorite knife that has no sentimental connections. And your new 3-blade canoe is choice. Tremendous trio, in fact. (If carrying 3 knives makes you greedy, I must be quadragreedy!:rolleyes:)

Thanks GT :D Nice choices my friend

Congratulations :) Lovely Barlow

I too chose The Precious today.

Precious indeed! :D

A special Scout knife today, my first Rough Rider that is also a birthday gift from 5K Qs, thanks GT!

Very cool, those RR Scouts are nice knives

Very interesting, Jolipapa. I learned about this Kings' Day tradition while visiting my daughter in Spain a year ago (HUGE parade in Valencia on Kings' Day Eve ), but didn't realize it was a French tradition too.
It goes back to Roman's days saturnales (you spoke about that I think) but was transformed for the epiphany and the Three Kings, now family and friends tradition. The cake differs between Northern and Southern France.
Here is this year's charm (they're getting bigger and bigger) and all that remain... :D:

Those Beer Barrel Bokers certainly are appealing! How do you like the feel of the "recycled wood", Brett?

Real nice texture that gets smoother with age and use. :)

As I was picking out a knife today, I realised I hadn't carried my Texas Jack in a while. It was overdue for a ride in the pocket.

Some great looking carry's like always. Except for hiking in the woods, this guy has pretty much been it for me so far this year!

Glad to see you got the Fremont back Drew!

GT, loving those jigged bone beauties.

Stay dry Jack!

Carrying the Dowell swayback today after a little stropping.

Great knives again everyone.

Tim, TsarBomba and 5K Qs thanks for the comments on the Eric's Jack.

Ron, that 72 Cody Jack is now on my list, beautiful knife.

I thought I'd change it up just a hair today.

Different Eric's Jack and a Wenger Standard Issue.

Wonderful German steel, Jim!

Incidentally, I have a Bulldog "Bull Terrier" stockman with some pretty wonderful bone scales. Oddly enough, however, the pile side master blade tang stamp reads "PITT BULL" with two T's. Judging by the etch on the master and the mark side tang stamps on the smaller blades, I'm pretty confident the knife is a Bulldog (or purports to be), but does the misspelling indicate something out of the ordinary? Could it be a factory error, or perhaps was I snookered by a fake? It doesn't feel like CCC, f&f is pretty great for what I paid, and the steel is sharp and strong, but the spelling error has me wondering...

Among my carries this week are a Kingston cattle knife,

Absolutely gorgeous and clean Kingston, GT. That spey blade is no joke and the whole rig is so easy on the eyes. I recently picked up a Cornwall Knife Co. (supposedly a Camillus imprint?) stockman with an awl in place of the sheepsfoot and now I'm hooked on that blade configuration. :p

Got this one from my mom (thanks to Donna) for Christmas.

You'd better treat your mother like a Queen for that gift. ;)

I know this is BladeForums but what are those round doodads underneath your lovely TC's?

As for me, a trio of Ka-bars komprises my karry krew today:

I've had the Barlow for quite some time, picked it up cheap but badly stained -- a rubber wheel on a Dremel got rid of the ugly brown color but clearly was too abrasive for the steel and marred the finish underneath. The toothpick and serpentine jack were recent pickups; all I've done is oil the jack. I still have some cleaning to do on the toothpick. Anybody knows a good solution to clean that black gunk off the blade edge and tang without risking damage to the steel?

I'm also beginning to think that the rather odd-looking arrowhead shield may actually be a base, since you can see the pin holding the shield on, and the actual Ka-bar logo may have been affixed over the top of it. Either way, I kinda dig the way it looks now and plan to keep it that way. :D

I'm toting around my latest mail call to day to show it off at work with a few other knife collectors. I owe it to another member here from Blade Forums. Thanks to Tom Chase!
