This pristine CASE XX #11031SH circa 1940-1964 arrived the other day, wonderful condition, still had cosmoline on the blades:cool:

Took a VERY keen edge. Most are clad in a medium finished Walnut, I cant say for certain but this does not appear to be Walnut to me? Cocobolo or Rosewood? Dare I guess ebony? Hummmm, or just a very dark Walnut?

Any insight from my brothers and sisters here is appreciated;)

Paul I did a quick look in "The Romance of Collecting Case XX Knives by Dewey P Ferguson". The 1972, 1974 and 1976 editions all list the following for your example above. These were sort of like the go to for early 70's Case Collectors.

11031 SH, XX Stamp used from 1950 - 1964. Walnut handles.
11031 SH, XX Stamp used from 1950 - 1951. Walnut handles, Concave Ground Blade.

Not to say that they did not do a custom order or someone might have had it rehandled. This in no way is meant to take anything away from a fabulous old Case, it is quite beautiful my friend.:D

BBB - Bingham's Best Brand. The lovely old specimen was made by Ulster Knife Co.
The W. BINGHAM CO., one of the Midwest's largest hardware concerns, was founded by WILLIAM BINGHAM† and HENRY C. BLOSSOM and incorporated as the W. Bingham Co. in 1888.

Gevo - This Bingham's Best Brand is a wonderful old pruner!

Going with a couple smaller knives today, both Primbles on polished granite:

Primble - They may be smaller in size, but not in appeal! Beautiful knives.:D

Thanks, Ron; my 34OT and I are honored! :)
Looks like you’re carrying an all-business cutting tool!

Thanks Dan :)
That fixed blade is sweet, a friend of mine recommended me his work since he grinds the steel down so thin behind the edge. Tempting..

Recycled photo but had the trusty Texas Jack as part as my pair while out and about on the bike yesterday. It's supposedly going to snow today so goodbye non-salted roads :grumpy:

tumblr_o0llm6vAhs1rzq6m9o1_1280.jpg

Thanks Tim. Josh grinds his blades super thin which makes them nice pocket razors. Amazingly crafted, good looking, and variety of materials which leads to them not staying long on the knife makers exchange.
Nice Texas Jack and I hope those roads of yours dry up quick for riding!

I like the way you think Dan ;), very nice pairing

With me today, HAPPY FRIDAY ALL!!!

Great minds… ;)
Great duo yourself there. Really missing my Beer scout I let go last year. Especially on a Friday evening. :D

Looks like you're well-equipped Dan :) Love the fixed-blade

I haven't carried one of my clasp knives in a while, so I've had this Libert 1951 with me today, together with my Boker Copperhead :) Hope everyone is have a great day

Thank you JB
That Libert is new to me. Looks like a very practical mariner tool. I like it!

Jack, I like that Boker Copperhead. Reminds of one my dad carried.
mitch4ging, I've been eyeing Ohta's friction folders. Make sure you show us if you get one!

I'm sporting these two today. Dan Krein Microchef in D2 and Micarta, and my Ken Erickson SBG, ATS-34. They go well together.

More of the knives I'm carrying this week follow.

I really like the acid etch on your SAK GT, did you acid wash it? Nice trio for the week.

Sweet mug!

Thanks buddy :) I see Viljo on this one too :D

Thanks Tim. Josh grinds his blades super thin which makes them nice pocket razors. Amazingly crafted, good looking, and variety of materials which leads to them not staying long on the knife makers exchange.
Nice Texas Jack and I hope those roads of yours dry up quick for riding!

Haha 8 inches over here Dan and counting. I'll have to check on of those fixed blades out then. Seem right up my alley.
Really beautiful day out with the pup. Carried this today for walking about.

SAK, a case Texas Jack, and a new Schrade Barlow. Plus I had a CRTK Hammond Cruiser in my left hip pocket.

Primble. Simply Wow!!!

Thank you Ken. The Vic Director looks interesting.:)

Mmmm! How many m-words do I need here? Magic is a great start, but I’ll add magisterial, magnificent, majestic, major-league, marvelous, matchless, memorable, mind-blowing, mind-boggling, mint, miraculous, monumental!:D:thumbup:

I suppose I should take more precautions with that celluloid LF&C than I do, but currently it’s such a pleasant little knife. :)

That is more M's than I could ever think up GT ! Thank you ! I meant to tell you that I was admiring your LF&C knife yesterday and then the forum broke. ;):D

LOL! Thank you, I've got it on my belt ;) :D Those are just lovely

:thumbup::D

Sweet Swaybacks

Not sure if you mean the Encore knife or the tennis shoe that replaced my pic this morning, but, thank you Rachel ! ;):D

I really like the scrimshaw Boker you enhanced !:)

Today a silver alox cadet, and this little German beauty.

A fine knife Jeff !:)

Primble
Stellar bone stretching all the way back down the old country road, my friend. I see a big smile on that boy's face:D

You have a VERY good memory my friend ! I read a post the other day where a member said that he now buys the knives he could not have when he was a child.

I reckon I might fit in his category ! ;):D

Primble - They may be smaller in size, but not in appeal! Beautiful knives.:D

Carrying this #47 to tide me over for a few more days!;)

Thanks, Gevo. The Microchef is really a great design. In the kitchen and most everywhere else.

ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL Gary!! Just wow.:eek::eek:

Somewhat sunny Friday carry…

Thanks, Dan. Nice pair you're carrying today!

:grumpy: :grumpy: :grumpy:

I had just finished responding to everyone's carries when the infamous BF "database error" gremlin got me. No autosave, no cache of my changes, no nothing. I am steaming!

I promise everyone I had super insightful things to say about all your carries. :o :D

Sigh. I am going to start responding to the day's carries in notetab first, this happens to me way too often.

Today's carry - Mac, my sheepsfoot Wolstenholm Barlow, and a late model Camillus TL-29 in place of the usual SAK which took a well-deserved Friday off.
