What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I like the teapot.

Me too, not at all common :)

Cool pic

Very nice, I have a similar Boker that I might carry tomorrow

Holy teapot !!! It even has a teapot kick !!!:eek::thumbup::thumbup::thumbup::D That friend we know never owned a bad knife. ;):D:D

P.S. - The wood is to die for !

A man of impeccable taste :) I wish he'd come back

One of the features I find interesting about this knife is that the blade well flares outwards significantly as it runs away from the tang. Apparently this was a common quality knife feature at one time, but I'm yet to discover its exact purpose or when such form ceased :)

Thanks, Dan. And, yes, the early runs (and maybe subsequent runs - not sure) were limited editions and had the PT stamp on them. I realized the other day that I always shoot the logo side, so I decided to let you all see the opposite side. Good catch on that, btw, Dan!

Well it's a just a real looker of a knife none the less. I can't recommend the LT Wright Patriot enough to others. In fact I think tomorrow will be a Patriot carry day. :D

Thank you Dan, love my Opinel, it's a knife I can imagine being in my pocket for the rest of my life an gaining some serious age.
Great looking bullnose :)

Carried this yesterday and today. Couldn't resist buying a corgi mug when I saw it online.

Indeed Tim Opinels just age fantastically.

Fanatastic mug! :D:thumbup:
The knife is pretty nice too...;)

Three customs for me today.
These blades remind me to be thankful for the caring, supportive, generous people in my life.

Gorgeous trio! Especially liking that fish shield

Todays carry…

Jack, Harry, Rob, Erik, Dan, Dean, Tim, Will, Gary and all...many fine knives shown today:thumbup:

This pristine CASE XX #11031SH circa 1940-1964 arrived the other day, wonderful condition, still had cosmoline on the blades:cool:

Took a VERY keen edge. Most are clad in a medium finished Walnut, I cant say for certain but this does not appear to be Walnut to me? Cocobolo or Rosewood? Dare I guess ebony? Hummmm, or just a very dark Walnut?

Any insight from my brothers and sisters here is appreciated;)

Great find Paul!!!!! Can't help with the type of wood unless you send it down here for me to get a better look at and do a little coon fingering to check the feel.

Harry

Paul, I think it looks cocobolo, but without knowing Case production specs I cant say for sure. But I can say it sure is a beaut!

Thanks Connor, I agree in regards to what and when they used certain woods. Rosewood and Ebony have a history to them, just not sure about Cocobolo?

Cattaraugus listed many Cocobolo handled knives in my 1922 catalog. I have one in Cocobolo and it is pre-WW2, IMO. ;) We also know Catt used Rosewood for handles, pretty far back, as well. If I remember correctly, it seems Case preferred Rosewood. Looking at the pictures, it could be either. I am leaning Rosewood. Beauty of a knife, regardless !:)

This one today for me

Also, if you are in central Texas please check out my signature. Meeting up with BF guys this weekend and would love to have some traditional folks there.

Did you seriously just post a grail 11031SH? :o

It's surely not just shellacked/finished walnut. My guess given the wood Cases I've had the pleasure of handling would be rosewood. I am seething with jealousy right now, though not as badly as I would be if I hadn't picked up not one but two old red bone Cases tonight (including the knife that will ultimately indoctrinate me into the Cult of the Peanut ). I am going to have to start a proper wood hunt now. :D

Thanks for sharing, Paul!

What ever it is Paul..it's stunning :) I agree on the notion that it's cocobolo though~

Thanks Dan :)
That fixed blade is sweet, a friend of mine recommended me his work since he grinds the steel down so thin behind the edge. Tempting..

Have the Dunlap today

Nice to see the Dunlap appear Steve, the red liners really pop; good looking clip slip as well~

As for me better late than never....I guess. This was yesterday's carry.

Great photo of that ol' Christy knife. I've been meaning to try one out. Very interesting design.

That swayback from Kerry is beautiful puukoman

Love the handles on that knife Tim. Gonna have to get me one of those corgi mugs too.

Thank you, the wormgroove is especially nice. Haha if you want I can PM you the listing :)

I like that S&M Tim ! :thumbup::)

Thank you Primble, sheffield magic certainly comes in two's~ The pruner is a favourite with that flat bottom end.

Recycled photo but had the trusty Texas Jack as part as my pair while out and about on the bike yesterday. It's supposedly going to snow today so goodbye non-salted roads :grumpy:
