What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

...
Thanks for the compliment, Gary! All these scrimshaws are making me want to try my hand at it. That is a good looking leg and scrim on it.
...
Thanks, Gev. :) I keep meaning to start a scrimshaw thread, but it hasn't happened yet. :( There has been some nice scrimshaw showing up lately, though. I admire your desire to try some yourself, Gev. I tried sketching something "scrimish" in church this morning, but the result was less than satisfying!

GT, your lady has a long leg sir!! Is the owl graphic scrimshaw?
...
Thanks, Jake. :) Yep, the owl is scrimshaw (at least Marbles' version of it). I DO like the long leg knife better than the stubby ones. Your comment reminds me of a song from my youth, something about who'll take the woman with the skinny legs? This leg knife IS quite skinny, as well as long:

Haha perhaps my eyes deceive me. An acid etch is when you dip a blade in ferric chloride or muriatic acid which will provide a black oxide. We call it patina. It's used on damascus or even stainless blades since they don't patina naturally.
Nice picks for the week, I love the Opinel as a kitchen blade as well. I just have to remember to get all the tape residue off of it first..;)
...
Put this one I won in Bob's GAW in the pocket w/ the Opinel as soon as I received it from Mike/EyeDog. Great guy and equally great knife.
I was surprised that the wharncliffe on this blade was far less obtrusive in hand when the clip blade was open than some other wharncliffe/clip knives I've experienced.

Congrats on the new Barlow, Tim, and thanks for the etching explanation; maybe I should try that on a stainless blade sometime. Do you have an example you can show off, Tim?

Schrade 5OT and added the little guy too!

Nice Schrades, Blofield, as usual. Given the different scales of the 2 photos, it took me a minute to realize "the little guy" REALLY was a little guy Mighty Mite.

I've mentioned that I'm making the effort to carry a knife for about a week or so rather than switching daily. But rather than using a spreadsheet like Gary does (and I'm not mocking it, I think that's pretty cool) by the weekend I start to hear one of my other knives calling to me. "pick me, pick me!" (perhaps I should have played with dolls more as a child) :D

The Forum knife is staying in my pocket a bit longer:

And for the watch pocket:
Powerful pair of pocket knives, Rachel! (And I see that you later supplemented them with a fine old Western stockman.) Are you liking the weekly rotation? I must have played with plenty of dolls, because I rarely hear voices from my knives! :D

...
Gary - Thank you my friend. It is good to see you enjoying that straight edge this week! ;)
...
This Ebony TC will be with me today. :)

Thanks, Ron. :) I have classes I teach, but you just have class with that TC!

First-rate 38, Bob, with flawless jigging!

Just in case something needs MacGyvering.
Interesting electrician, Mark. Have you used the saw much? How does it compare to a Vic wood saw?

I might have to open a beer for Super Bowl Sunday!!!

Just an awesome knife, Jake!:eek::thumbup: And it's always good to be prepared for life's emergencies. :D

...
Carbon fiber and French ivory for me today.

Dark and light; new and old; fixed and folding; yin and yang!! Super (Bowl) Sunday pair, Tom!

Even more cool, I knew it was somewhat unique for a Northwoods, and thanks for the reply.

My pocket knife for the week. I had to make it match my attire, for at least today.

My wife, daughter, students, and friends all tell me I have no fashion sense, but I think that's a fabulous foot, HST! (Gotta learn to lace my shoe that way!)

Ebony Presidential and African blackwood New Day TC.

Dazzling dark duo, Dean!

...
I'm heading off to a Super Bowl party at the local sports bar in a bit. Felt like carrying these two. An Eric's Jack and a Wenger Pocket Tool Chest.

Have a great Super Bowl Sunday all.

Enjoy the game, Ken; I enjoy the way you expand my SAK horizons almost every day!!

Bueno Boker Barlow, Ben!

I've really enjoyed the thread. Thanks for sharing

I love a knife that can fit in the watch pocket of my jeans. Tidioute 25.

Fantastic knife in your first post, Travman! I'm a sucker for an EO sheepsfoot knife, and then to have woodgrain like you have on yours - wow!

Loaded up my new weekly rotation today, rather than waiting until Monday morning like I usually do. (I think I may start making the switch on Sundays from now on; logistically, that works better for me.) Some of my companions this week include:
a Schrade-Wostenholm I*XL stag canoe (thanks for the GAW, cchu518)
ctkERznl.jpg

a Holub electrician with hawkbill (thanks Dave)

and the first knife I bought on my visit to Spain, and carried for the rest of my stay there, a Taramundi

I should try to catch at least a little of the Super Bowl to show that I'm not some kind of communist!

lolol thanks bud

Looks like a great start to the day my friend :)

Definitely Jack :) Got the little one all tuckered out so I could get some work done midday.

Congrats on the new Barlow, Tim, and thanks for the etching explanation; maybe I should try that on a stainless blade sometime. Do you have an example you can show off, Tim?

Wow... Take a few days off, and it takes a loooong time to catch up :) Some fantastic carries and shots the last few days - way too many to comment individually!

Tom and Dan made me want to dig out a pocket sheath today :)

Stunning pictures Tim. That Dowell just looks as if it just belongs there.

Too busy enjoying the outsoors to snap a picture so recycling this one of my trusty Cadet which accompanied me all day.

HST , I cannot seem to email you or send you a visitor message like you wanted me to. Send me an email...
