What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

It's a good day to stay inside here. I went out to fill the bird feeders and -5 degrees F is pretty cold, with a wind on top of that.

Stay warm Gary, fine carries today. The black ash burl is sure beautiful and the Damasteel(RWL34 and PMC27) takes and holds a great edge.

Unseasonably warm day today, nice to have a day off from climbing and working. Spending the day with my special ladies, these two fine knives are with me today,

R.W. Loveless drop point in lignum vitae and 154cm, along with a Texas jack by Tony Bose in very nice, vintage, Remington bone and ATS 34, #2.

Camillus 883 stockman. Surprising quality on this one for the price I got it for. Delrin handles, I believe. Anyone know what time period it's from? Recent?

Thanks, Kris. The O'Hare Sparrow is a great knife, from a great friend! Enjoy the warm day with those fine knives and your wife and daughter. It didn't get above 0 degrees here today.

Camillus closed in 2007. So, not too recent.

Speaking of Camillus. Today I've got this Camillus-made Remington stockman with 0170-6C blade steel in my pocket. (similar to the 1095 Cro Van that KaBar uses.) Of all my stockman knives, this is probably my very favorite.

I see that they have a re-launched website, but only a couple of "grandpa" patterns. So this one must've been before the re-launch of the brand by Acme. Looking at the old 1992 catalog, this exact one is not in there either. I did find a similar model in the 2006 catalog, so it's probably from around then before they closed. I dig the Remingtons with the bullet shield.

Thanks, guys.
I'm a little embarrassed to have forgotten this one. It was possible because I have a pretty similar Boker with more belly to the main blade. I believe the handle on this one is delrin, and I think the shield and the jigging are gorgeous.

Thank you Ron, another TC on me coaster today. Very nice Schrade, what are the covers on that one?

Tim - Thank you my friend. I assume this old Schrade to be some sort of celluloid. I read the name of the color in an old catalog, just can't remember what it was!

Harry - Stag Saturday!!:thumbup::thumbup:

At the risk of being even more boring than usual, I'll again show photos of the knives I carry EVERY day, in addition to my weekly choices.
Vic Electrician, Case Peanut, Vic Minichamp, and Case Sodbuster Jr. The Sodbuster Jr (SBJr) is pictured twice, once with a Case Swayback Jack (SBJ) and once with a Case Sowbelly Stockman (SBS), all in chestnut jigged bone and CV. I'm thinking of adjusting my carry rotation a little bit, because the swayback jack and the sowbelly are just TOO nice to wait to carry every tenth week or so!! I think I'm going to use my "normal" rotation Monday through Friday, and have "weekend specials" during which I carry all my FAVORITE knives! ;) Not sure what 8-12 knives will be in that every weekend line-up, but it will definitely include the SBJr (thanks, Bob), the SBJ (thanks, Paul), and the SBS (thanks, Ron), and probably an Imperial clip/pen toothpick (thanks, Dave), an ebony EC Simmons Keen Kutter (thanks, Mark), a Camillus TL-29, a stag canoe, maybe a Marbles bone stag stockman (thanks, Randy) and an Uncle Henry stockman (thanks, Dean) and a Sheffield ring-opener (thanks, Jack), and probably my first knife, a Colonial Forest-Master.

Hehe I can't wait to see more vipers Ron

Nice one, Tim. Is that one going to be a user?

These two knives kept me company on the hike today. Bitingly cold out there!!!
...

Haha indeed Dean. I've had this one before completely new but I appreciate the one I received recently that has been well loved and used.
Great looking presidential and evergreen on your carry, hope you stayed warm. It was most definitely frigid today.

Thanks, Tim. I'm looking forward to seeing your new antique amber sawcut Charlow, although my anticipation is probably a quantum leap lower than yours!! :p

- GT

I always enjoy seeing that baseball mitt slip of yours~ Great knives and great friends behind each one.
Well here it is my friend xD

Had to clean it out all day today (quite a bit of gunk inside and out not shown/I'm not quite done yet but it's clean of any red stuff now :) )
I also put a vertical brushed satin on the bolsters instead of the 'matte finish'
I hesitate to use the word grail but this is definitely one that's up there.
I never thought I would find one considering how long ago they were made but with the help of a friend who passed his along to me.

Stunning Gary

Now all we need is a stockman with a pitchfork blade and we're set. :D

The Japanese Hobo Knife Randy kindly gifted me might be up to the job! :D

Great background for your rope knife, Jack!
