What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Great looking presidential and evergreen on your carry, hope you stayed warm. It was most definitely frigid today.

Thanks my friend, nice choices for your hike, hope you had a good one

Very nice pair of knives Dean!

Thank you, gentlemen. They are both favorite carries. And hiking is also one of my passions and fortunately I have friends who enjoy it. Unfortunately, they are not into knives, but do tolerate my passion for them. :)

Great photo of a beautiful viper. That snakewood glows!

Carried another one of my favorite TCs today. This one is a hairsbreadth from becoming one of my users as it is eminently easy to carry and pinch open.

Bob - Good to see you my friend, stay warm! :) That is a very nice Wright from Mr. Jack!

Two stunning vipers, guys.
Ron, I'm those two "mystery" packages will fit in just fine with the rest of your vipers.

SSS - Thank you for the compliment my friend! :) They are really not a mystery at all! ;)

Couple of Northwoods today. A bit too cold (-2 last I checked) to be out today, so I had to improvise on the pics:

Derek - Nice pair of Northwoods there and the photo is just fine!

Great pair my friend, I am very interested to hear your impressions of the Iron River.

Quick snow pic, I am having a hard time not toting this Camillus each day. Perfect pull for me and excellent walk and talk.

Tom - Nicely equipped with that duo today!

Primble - It goes without saying, nothing but dandies in that duo your totin' today!

I got this one in the mail yesterday, and it is in the pocket today! I believe it just may be the Cream of the crop. no pun intended. :D

Was the hammered esquire also done afterwards Ken? Both look fantastic, that mammoth is all sorts of creamy. Who did the work?

Good looking Mora handle. I've yet to carve into my opinel and stain it but i'll come along in due time I hope.
Make sure to do a thorough stripping and sanding, use stain prep, and look in these forums for opinel staining advice. The beech is really hard to get a good stain on.

I think that's the first Northwood fixed-blade I've seen, looks handy, and you're certainly not going to lose it in the snow!

Great pair my friend, I am very interested to hear your impressions of the Iron River.

Thanks, fellas. And, yep, that's the new Iron River (made by Bark River for Derrick at KnivesShipFree in Escanaba, Michigan). Here's another look from yesterday:

It warmed up to bearable 10 degrees this afternoon, so I got out to the woods after all. Brought the LT Coyote along:

Thanks for the interest Tim.

The Wenger is a stock knife. They made them in polished, brushed and hammered stainless steel. Here's a picture of them all.

I don't know who did the mammoth on the 72. I purchased it from Gunstock Jack's. I like it!

Have a nice evening.

Donna decided to show me a little leg for Valentine's Day. So before you all get your minds in the gutter, she got me another little knife. My first lady leg actually, in purple swirl (her favorite color). It's a really nice little Taylor Brand Schrade that is well put together. One little gap, dead center blades, that are shaving sharp out of the box. Best of all, it opens beer bottles. It's perfect to me. Happy Valentine's Day everyone!

On the move all day today so a quick shot using my shirt as a backdrop is the best I could do. Light and dark for GT :).

Thanks. :) Eye-popping pair, Tom!

...
Unseasonably warm day today, nice to have a day off from climbing and working. Spending the day with my special ladies, these two fine knives are with me today,

R.W. Loveless drop point in lignum vitae and 154cm, along with a Texas jack by Tony Bose in very nice, vintage, Remington bone and ATS 34, #2.

Your knives are always breathtaking, Kris, and those tiles inlaid in your table/countertop are mighty attractive too!

Speaking of Camillus. Today I've got this Camillus-made Remington stockman with 0170-6C blade steel in my pocket. (similar to the 1095 Cro Van that KaBar uses.) Of all my stockman knives, this is probably my very favorite.

I remember the photos you've posted of your entire array of stockman knives, and to say the Remington is your very favorite is saying a LOT!

Ram's horn Cuban along with a Cadet today.

Ram53open_zpsd6d36cd1.jpg~original
Mind-boggling ram's horn, Jeff!

Thanks, guys.
I'm a little embarrassed to have forgotten this one. It was possible because I have a pretty similar Boker with more belly to the main blade. I believe the handle on this one is delrin, and I think the shield and the jigging are gorgeous.
Mn8j9CzO
Thanks for the follow-up, scrteened porch. :) Your assessment of shield and jigging seems right on the money! ;)

...
Gary - You are welcome my friend! Hope you decide to enjoy it more often.:D

The Mailman brought me a package yesterday and another today.;) No time yet to get photos so I decided to carry this one and use an old photo. This might give a hint as to the contents those 2 packages.:D

Thanks, Ron; I try to be "impartial", but I definitely have some knives that deserve more attention than others! :)
Looking forward to seeing the contents of your packages (even though I think there's a biblical warning about a "brood of vipers" :D)!

...
GT - that old sleeveboard you asked about the other day was made by Schrade Cut. Co. Do I remember correctly that you are a mathematician ? ;):D
Thanks for the sleeveboard info, Primble. :) I am a mathematician of sorts, and I guess I must have let the professional intrude on the recreational, eh? ;) I don't compartmentalize my life very well; I tend to let various aspects mix together and influence one another!:D

...
I always enjoy seeing that baseball mitt slip of yours~ Great knives and great friends behind each one.
Well here it is my friend xD

Had to clean it out all day today (quite a bit of gunk inside and out not shown/I'm not quite done yet but it's clean of any red stuff now :) )
I also put a vertical brushed satin on the bolsters instead of the 'matte finish'
I hesitate to use the word grail but this is definitely one that's up there.
I never thought I would find one considering how long ago they were made but with the help of a friend who passed his along to me.

Thanks, Tim, and congrats on that fabulous, knees-weakening antique amber sawcut TC!!!:thumbup:

Mind-blowing snakewood on your Viper, UAB89!! Very appropriate! ;)

... A couple of great SAK's GT and mp31x!

Today it's a Northfield 72 redone in mammoth and a Wenger Esquire in hammered stainless.

Have a good one all!

Ken K.
Thanks, Ken. :) That mammoth 72 looks like a monster next to that stunning hammered stainless Esquire!:cool:

Yesterday's carry

A Vic Electrician is almost the perfect knife, IMHO, and it's even better with the old cross!! Are the blades coated, or is that just the lighting?

...
Quick snow pic, I am having a hard time not toting this Camillus each day. Perfect pull for me and excellent walk and talk.

You're still living the BSA motto, Tom, with your daily pairs: you are definitely prepared for whatever the day brings, at least from a cutlery perspective!;)

Carried another one of my favorite TCs today. This one is a hairsbreadth from becoming one of my users as it is eminently easy to carry and pinch open.

Superb Charlow, Dean!:cool: I should be taking notes; you seem to have a lot of fantastic TCs! Have you ever posted one of those Barlow wheel group shots to display them all at once?

Those are a couple of current classics, Randy; very desirable!!
(When you carry two sheepsfoot blades at once, do you have an urge to dress in wool? :D)

Switched over to this week's rotation today. Here are some of the knives for this week.
SAK of the week is a "no-name" (actually, brand name is Sheffield):

Stockman of the week is a Colt "black stag" bone stag sowbelly:

Canoe of the week is a Hen and Rooster mini-canoe (thanks, Will):

Nice knives and pictures everyone:cool:

Spending the day with my Buddy Boy, he's a little under the weather as of late.

Carrying a special knife today. One that went to a friend and ended up back home again;)

Enjoy your Sunday everyone:thumbup:

You have quite the collection of TC's there. They really look great, BUT they would look even better with a patina. :D

I have both of these with me today.

I love that sheepsfoot 77 barlow. That is one run I wished I had been around for.

You've got a couple of winners with you today. That ebony 33 is definitely on my shortlist.

I like the Iron River, but those LT's are some sweet looking knives! The coyote is one of those patterns that grow on me a little more everytime I see it.
