I know I keep reusing this pic, but I can't put this Davison down. Carrying it again today, and the A2 is starting to patina.

Thanks, Jack. That thread caused me to reflect on the year and what was important as far as my knife carry.
I went looking for this knife a few days ago and to my annoyance I couldn't find it .
I finally asked my wife if she had seen it and she straight away said " Oh that old funny knife
, I've been carrying that around with me for weeks , I didn't think you would mind , because its so old and you have all your new knives to play with "
When I asked to see it she just said its over on the bench with my rings .

I can't blame you, that is stunning!
I really like that RR scrimshaw stockman from r8shell Gary.
Thanks, Bob and Tim; I'm obviously very fond of that example of r8shell's talent and generosity, too!Thank you GT, love that scrimshaw RR that was done specially for you
One of my top 5 for 'old friend's Friday'

Well-said, Sarah! I'm astonished by the emotional lift that I get from my "knife life": I certainly enjoy the "workmanship", but the "manifestations of friendship" are even better, and seeing others' fine "cutlery-- near and far" brings me a surprising amount of enjoyment!... Whether because of intrinsic merits of presentation and workmanship, or as pocketable manifestations of friendship and good company, or some combination of both, I'm grateful for the cutlery-- near and far-- that brightens my days.

Congrats on those two beauties, Rachel!
Rachel and Cory, the honor is all mine in being the recipient of your generosity!:thumbup: Rachel, it's interesting that you mention "big leagues", since I've used that analogy myself. But in my version, some of the Porch residents are real major leaguers when it comes to knife knowledge and collection quality, while I'm just a church league softball guy. But even a rank amateur like me can occasionally "make a play" that's very similar to what the pros do every day, and I can watch, enjoy, and appreciate what the players in the big leagues do.
I just wanted to echo Rachel in saying that it's an honor to know that I supplied a knife that makes regular rotation for you, GT. It makes me smile every time you post about it. Us porch members tend to move from one knife to the next at an alarming pace. It's special to me to know that I contributed to somebody finding one that has stayed in favor for so long.
I am continuing to carry knives this week without a thought towards practicality, just knives that elevate my mood. Today an old-ish friend I picked up in the early 90's, an A.G. Russell Cattaraugus Trapper that doesn't see enough pocket time. Also a Peanut that has never seen any pocket time, maiden voyage today. Happy Friday All!

Two more compelling combos, Tom! (That black Beer Scout and white Delrin Peanut would make a striking pair!) I've really appreciated your meteorologically-inspired, mood-altering carries this week!
Gorgeous knife (and edge), Robb! This Queen copperhead for me today. I spent a lot of time on a diamond stone thinning the primary grind. I also gave it a nice acute edge. It's a real slicer now!

The photo of your 25 definitely made my Friday more joyous, Paul!
Thanks, Jack. Thanks GTThe photo was taken atop the ancient walls of Knaresborough Castle
That's a very versatile pair right there my friend. Lovely to see your specially scrimshawed Peanut again too:thumbup:
Thanks, Dean.
Hope you had a Happy Birthday, Dave, and thanks for sharing those special knives! :thumbup:The peanut is usually in my watch pocket. The Northwoods was a Christmas present from my wife, the TC was my birthday gift a couple years prior and the Buck was my fathers. All are special to me. So I have several choice on what I will carry today on my birthday.

That's a stunning stag Peanut!
Wow, Ernie, that is a very distinguished pen knife!
Beautiful blue stockman, Jack; thanks for sharing the back story!Another crack of dawn start for me tomorrow, but at least it's recreation rather than work this timeI generally don't enter the frequent generous giveaways here, in no small part due to the incredible luck I've had in the past
Obviously, the first time I won, I was particularly thrilled, and the prize most generously offered by KG, was this Case Medium Stockman. It's a knife I often carry when pocket space is at a premium or when a small knife is most appropriate. It certainly qualifies as another old friend I think. Thanks again KG

That big jack sure is NOT chicken feed!
Splendid pic of a superlative knife!
Very nice, Jack. I certainly have enjoyed your "theme week" displaying some of your stockman examples! Any other themes upcoming??
JP Obviously, I don't know the size of Jack's Stockman knife, but you might be interested in Queen Cutlery's No.26 Small Stockman. It looks similar and has a low riding Sheepfoot making it good in the hand. Various bone, horn and wood versions.

Thanks, Jack. The Electrician and Peanut do provide a lot of variety: spear, sheepsfoot, clip, and pen blades as well as some other tools (awl, screwdriver, bottle opener). The little scrimshawed knife from Rachel is actually a stockman pattern, and illustrates that another of her talents is wielding a sharpening stone!
