What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Lovely greenies, Ron!!

Thank you Gev! :) That NYKC Barlow and that little greenie friend are a nice pair!:D

Just happened to be green just like my shirt happened to be green today.

Changing to blue for tonight though. ;) Thank you for the game support the other night !:thumbup::)

Primble, this is the first day I have posted since the weekend. I am kicked back right now waiting for them Catts to take the court. SEC all the way my friend.:D

Saw a coyote on our dog walk today.

My attempt to catch up with the thread, part 1. :o

Today I'm carrying one of my most treasured finds from Berlin:
Hartkopf & Co army knife.

 Wow! Ok, go on, fess up: You baby that thing, don't ya. :D

My Stockman today is made by Taylor's Eye Witness

That knife looks pretty sharp as a shadow pattern. Great pic, too, that wood could probalby supply us with new scales for all our favorite knives (and keep Glenn busy for years to come).

Another Stockman today, a gift from the good Mr Gevonovich :)

You might accidentally set off another old Case red bone skirmish. :D

:D Love the pics my friend  An early start for me tomorrow, but I'll be continuing my Stockman theme with this stainless IXL. First time I've carried this knife I think, kinda forgot I had it :o :D
I like this new "theme week" idea. Your stock knives, Primble's Barlows...maybe GT and I will do duelling fish knives one week. :p

Thanks, TB. :) That little yellow sodbuster is indeed an Imperial from Taylor LLC. I haven't used it hard yet, and maybe it would disintegrate under hard use, but so far it seems incredibly solid, and costs in the single digits. Good luck with your Queen stockman in the Challenge!
...
This week, I'm carrying (among others):
an Imperial BSA knife
a Rough Rider stag canoe
a Rough Rider electrician
and a Rough Rider trapper

Couple of other knives I'm carrying Monday-Friday this week came to me from across the sea:
a stainless ring-opener from Sheffield by way of Jack Black
and a French pattern (made in China, I suspect) purchased in Denia, Spain - a cheap knife but perhaps the most pleasant walk & talk of any knife I own!

A couple more knives in this week's rotation are an Uncle Henry stockman and a Belnap Blue Grass Barlow:

Always the Kanoe King, GT. :o That's some awfully nice stag for the price, sir! That linesman knife has such an interesting shield, too. I've almost pulled the trigger on more than one occasion just because of the bone and the shield. And what if RR starts making Laguioles... :D Glad to see you went with a Barlow, too.

Going classy today:)

Knocked it out of the park with that breathtaking whittler, Ernie.

Great carries today everyone! It's hard keeping up!
Sway Back in the pocket today

Nonsense, you just build a nicer one and off you go! ;) :p The lines of that swayback are amazing, even the stag follows them. It's like the pinnacle of the SBJ.

I've been off and on the forums lately. Sometimes when I'm not doing well, I have a hard time focusing on the computer so I end up just logging off. Having said that, I want to thank everyone for the fine compliments on my new Ohta the last couple days. I just don't want folks thinking I'm ignoring them. Much love to everyone here. :D

Just stay OK and keep on keepin' on, Bob. We'll be here for you when you feel better, which I'm sure a little CE&CF of that sweet Northfield probably contributes to. :)

Uh-oh... What have I done again??
Thanks for your interest, Tsar.
That one's a Case Classic, limited edition made by Queen in 1994. It's a 5355 pattern Wharncliffe whittler with stag covers 3 13/16" length, Wharncliffe main opposed by two modified coping blades. The stag is a beautiful, mellow, golden color, and it's only getting better over time. This one's super cool, too, because it's serial number 0000.
...
With a little searching, you can find these still from time to time for sale on the web, secondary market obviously, in various handle options. And the Queen-made Case Classics were done in several patterns over the years, all top quality from what I've seen.
Here are a few more pics. Please pardon the fingerprints and smudges.... I wiped it down before I put it back into its leather slip, I promise. ;) This is one of the only knives that I carry in a knife-purse, but I think it's a cool one and worthy of the blade.

Awesome stuff, thanks for the extra eye candy. I still sometimes smile sideways when I think about the Queen/Case contract knives and just in general how incestuous the American folding knife market was, is, and probably will continue to be.

I've already started the hunt for one of those, you've given me a fresh grail. If I don't concentrate on a special acquisition I sometimes spin out of control with little those boxes and tubes. :o

More grey and rain today, so I am totin' some more colorful choices.

Is that the Case "vintage bone" (which is just their way of saying "Nyah, nyah, Queen, we do Winterbottom too") in red on that seahorse? It looks fantastic. I also chose an osage GEC and a red Case to make things a little more colorful.

I think I will carry a cattle knife today:D And a picture of the ploughed fields in Milam County last Sunday

I guess that's one way to spend a Sunday... ;)

I carried these two today for Wooden Wednesday.

Doesn't that osage 'yote just feel right? The Cult of the Peanut might be in for some watch pocket competition. :)

Northfield spear barlow in my right front an tc sheepsfoot in my watch pocket.

That's one way to cover all your blade needs and also celebrate the humble yet extraordinary Barlow.

Case rancher 18 stockman

The venerable #18, I waxed somewhat poetic about it in Connor's EDC challenge thread. Really cool pic, and I dig the sawcut (?) on the handle!

I've got my two newest with me. Case Punch Stockman
Coyote

You got the pick of the litter, Rachel. And SIGH, another amber bone Case for me to track down. :grumpy: Thank goodness I already paid for my 'yotes...

I'll continue catching up on everyone's awesome carries over the next couple days as things hopefully settle down some. Since today was kind of a joke for me it only seems natural that my carry would sound like a setup line... "A Queen, a Case and a Tidioute () walk into a bar..."

What an impressive Imperial, Dan - super!!

This week, I've a Rough Rider trapper and a Chinese Laguiole purchased in Spain on kitchen duty:

Thanks GT. It was gift from a fellow BF member.
That Laguiole is a style I've always wanted to try. Just a sleek looking cutter. Very nice.

A semi-matched pair for me. I am going to give this Queen barlow to my nephew, but at 4 years old his parents think he is a little young ;). Thought I would give it some air and oil this fine day.

Awesome awesome pairing Tom. Wish my uncle had a nice Barlow like that waiting for me. :D

Jack Black - Thanks good sir.

Some green ( and fluffy white ) for the day... ;)

Fantastic eye candy folks!
Today I am trying out my new barlow. Have a nice weekend people!

Does this count as traditional?

OSS style lapel dagger.

Nice to see the Henckles again and to see it being carried Paul !:)

Its actually carried quite often but searching my photobucket library I discover - to my dismay - that I have posted very few pictures of it, although it is some of the finest red jigged bone I have. Once again, thank you.

Both gifts from very generous Forumites here. A Savenelli and a J.A.Henckles. Taken from the deck of the MV Loch Seaforth as I crossed the Minch on my way to the mainland for work.

Fantastic Paul, two beautiful gifts there, and great pics

"A Queen, a Case and a Tidioute () walk into a bar..."

LOL! :D

Part 1 of my attempt to catch up with your catch-up TB! :D  Thanks for the comments my friend

Excellent pic Dan, and two more great knives

Nicely captured :)

Double TC's for me today :)

Primble, this is the first day I have posted since the weekend. I am kicked back right now waiting for them Catts to take the court. SEC all the way my friend.:D

I been noticing you M.I.A. I'll give you ten stars for that post ! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 :D

You are most welcome Paul.:)

Mike, Gev, Kris, and swaybacksteve: fantastic fixed blades today! Thank you for posting.

Thanks Tom! your two yesterday matched nicely. I'm sure your nephew will appreciate the gift (even if he can't use it right away :) )

My pair for this half-day Friday... Half-Whittler and City Knife.

While I was composing a post for this thread yesterday, SEVEN consecutive posts came in, each of which contained at least one very notable knife that filled me with yearning! I don't have data to support this claim, but my gut feeling is 7 in a row has to be some kind of record! Here are "The Magnificent Seven": JSCHENK's yellow congress, Mike's orange humpback stockman, puukkoman's green "7-Up bottle" Marbles, J_Curd's new "golden brown" 85 and Jake's red bloodwood 85 (both with fantastic EO notch and bodice shield ), Gev's rich brown New York Barlow (and his frequent green photo assistant ;)), and jrawk's green 09!!:cool:

Happy St. Patrick's Day! No green today, so I hope I don't get pinched...

I'm going with the bloodwood today.

My St Patty's Day Acrylic #09 today.... of course!

Almost a rainbow of colors there, too! :)

...
5KQ....sorry didn't see your question on the Itty Bitty , but the lanyard is indeed a showlace and the pattern is a rattlesnake. you can catch how to on youtube.
Thanks, Steve; I'll be looking up a rattlesnake lanyard, for sure! :)

Thank you, GT! Nice pair yourself!

Gary

Thanks so much for the compliment on yesterdays carry! Good looking Bee your packin:thumbup::thumbup::D
Thanks for the kind words, mitch and Gev. :)

Gary, That's the Case-Bose 2013 Collaboration. It's 3.5". It's one of my favorites and just the right size in my opinion.
Thanks for the reply, Gary. I can see why it's a favorite; not only is the size just right, it looks to me as though practically every feature of that knife is just right!

Are we going to have to rank all these astounding Barlows at the end of the week?:confused: I think that might be an impossible (but enjoyable) task for me! That Catt is incredible; just the bolster stamp alone, with its tiny cursive script, seems like a marvel of engineering to me. And the TC is unforgettable; the antique amber sawcut handles are by far my favorite, and then the "soup effect" on this one makes it stand out even more! Haven't you owned that knife more than once?? And that Keen Kutter certainly punches above its weight!!:D

...
Have these two today for the hike...

Your Uncle Henry is looking very svelte, Steve!

...

I'd call that a Yowza Yellow pair, Tom! Sounds like you're a GOOD uncle! ;)

Superlative Sowbelly, pj!

Not the best picture, but it was dark when I took the teardrop out of the mailbox. It went straight into the pocket.
Congrats on the tasteful teardrop, ms3902 (and the peanut definitely has pizzazz)!

Originall posted by GT :
Filling your pockets with steel on a windy day is good thinking, Harry! :D Quite a variety of knives in your photo. I like that gigantic Colonial with the distinctive covers. Is the Eddie Bauer SAK a Wenger model ?

- GT

Yes it is a Wenger GT !!!!

Harry
Thanks for the confirmation, Harry. :)

I like the "theme week" idea, too. But I'd lose at Duelling Fishknives long before 7 days had passed! :o:rolleyes: Your "joke trio", along with the numerous Barlow wheels recently in another thread, give me an idea for a geometric theme: displaying knives in all kinds of pleasing geometric configurations - trapper triangles, Queen quadrilaterals, peanut pentagons, harness jack hexagons, pen knife polygons of every ilk!! :D:D

Thanks, TB. :) Somehow, without my realizing exactly when it happened, I've become quite a canoesseur. Seems when I look at knives I might purchase these days, canoes get all my attention: normal 3.625" canoes, mini-canoes, oversized canoes, gunboats, any and all handle variations; I've even looked at some that exceed my usual $30 max for a single knife! :D

Thanks GT. It was gift from a fellow BF member.
That Laguiole is a style I've always wanted to try. Just a sleek looking cutter. Very nice.

Some green ( and fluffy white ) for the day... ;)

Thanks, Dan.:) Very cool photo; that little dog looks incredibly magisterial as he gazes imperially over his domain!:D

Double TC's for me today :)

Wow! Make mine a double, too, barkeep!:thumbup::D

I think the only knives I'm totin' this week that I haven't posted here this week are some of my constant companions that I carry every day. So you've seen them all before, but I'm gonna post them again in the interests of full disclosure, transparency, honor among thieves, etc. :D
The Vic Electrician, and the Vic Minichamp (regrettably, celidor instead of Alox); you'll have to find them in the following group shot (sort of like dual "Where's Waldo?"):
