What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Old school 1911-1912 Union Knifeworks Moose with early 1900s locking pliers, this knife begs to be used, it just loves to cut and the brown jigged bone looks so rich and even feels warm in your hand.

I think that has to go down as one of the best looking knives I believe I have ever seen.

The Pioneer joined me on a little 2 mile hike today. Took a little break at the waterfall.

Picked up my first Schrade last night from a little gas station in the middle of nowhere. I didn't realize the 108OT is Peanut sized. I always thought it was 1/4" bigger for some reason. It came about as sharp as a river rock out of the box, but I'll fix that soon enough.

Now that the semester is winding down, I am able to relax and begin reading for the sake of learning and pleasure. I am back to the Boker 494. I tried going back to others, but this one cant stay out of my pocket for long...

Started the loquat harvest today, about a third finished. I need to find a good jelly recipe or something.

I recognize the waterfall Todd. My girls swam there last weekend, even if we did take a long round about way of getting there. I will try to call you tomorrow evening.

…My knives today.

Have a very nice evening all. For crying out loud, it's snowing out as I type this. :grumpy:

Ken K.
Nice pair of knives, Ken! Is that a “higher grade” handle than the usual birchwood on your Opinel?

Favoring this reworked Colonial the past few days
Admirable modifications to refurbish that old Colonial, Brumby!

Thank you for the kind comments, GT. That's a classic photo of the Imperial and watch!
Thanks Gary. I too like that composition of the old Imperial and pocket watch.
Well Gary, I have to echo Deans and Bob's thanks as well. And I agree with them in regards to a great composition with the pocket watch and Imperial:cool::thumbup: Those old Imperials always got scary sharp:)
Gary
Thanks for the compliment and i too love an old watch and Imperial. As Paul noted, they get very sharp and i have a few i really enjoy
GT:
… Love the pocket watch combo, classic!
…

I also like this one :) Nice Stockman too
…
I thought I'd have a change today, and pocket this Okapi

…Gary - thanks for the kind words on my Viper. :) Seems that I am going echo some others about that lovely photo of your old Imperial and that classic time piece.

Today's carry was a #77 Northfield Old Red Saw Cut Barlow.:D

Dean, Bob, Paul, Gev, Mitch, Jack, and Ron, thanks for the compliments about the photo of Imperial and pocket watch. :) As with most of my photos, little thought went into composition; I was just lucky back then (it’s one of my first knife pics ever). I was using a cheap digital camera without optical zoom that I checked out from my school’s audio-visual service, before I even started messing with my wife’s point-and-shoot Canon. My Dad had recently given me the pocket watch, so I put it in a shot with the Imperial that I’d gotten from my wife, who got it from her father. So I guess it was a semi-intentional family heirlooms theme.

Bob, that’s an interesting photo of that knife!

Jack, your Okapi is very interesting, and, coincidentally, I’ve recently been looking around for Okapis or Cold Steel Elands/Kudus. ;)

Ron, that red Northfield Barlow is majestic! And it still looked great the next day when paired with the acclaimed 82 osage orange stockman!

That shield is cosmic, David! ;)

Nice Barlow and patina Ron:thumbup:

Ebony and Ivory for me today...

A reversal of yesterday's carry:thumbup:

One thing about falling behind in this thread because yesterday was too busy for me to post, is that I can acknowledge and appreciate the multi-day themes folks often use, as Paul did the past couple of days with his “ebony/ivory reversal”! Each knife is choice by itself, and the double pairing is captivating!

Congrats on the celebrated Bull Nose, Kymedic, and HUGE congrats on making the 80000th post in this thread!!!!!

That punch-equipped medium stockman with the round bolsters is choice, TB!

Super SSSSSnakeskin, somber!

Have to spend some time at the hospital today , so I am carrying some small ones.

Harry
Stellar stag, Harry, and I like the tulips and daffodils in the background! Glad to hear that your hospital visit was routine.

…Thanks GT! I finally caught a blue farmer and was worried I'd rub all the blue off as I fretted through game 7

I like the canoe . I don't own one but am intrigued by the pattern, do you find it is a good "all-around" pattern, that could accomplish anything knife related throughout a normal day?
…
My carries today of no significant significance, the beer scout just hadn't been out in a while.

Thanks, Tom. :) I like almost everything about the numerous canoes I have, with the possible exception of the spear/pen blade combo on most of them. Not much variety in blade shape, although the blades are two different sizes and that's a plus. But I've concluded that I like a spear blade better than any other blade shape, so having a large and small version on the same knife is definitely not all bad.

Your dark Beer Scout (and lanyard) is an absolute gem; it deserves to get out more! :D

Man, that’s a big-league beauty, W.M.B.!

Beguiling pics, Gev!

Couple of pics from my walk in the woods today....

…
Great photos, Jake! I really envy the way the first shot obviously has a relatively “panoramic” view to get the entire girth of the tree trunk, yet the tang stamp is crystal clear!

...
Today I carried a TC spearpoint in walnut and a Wenger Standard Issue.

Ken K.
The TC and SI spearpoints are splendid, Ken!

Another ride on the "grain train" for Wooden Wednesday:

Nifty choices for Wednesday, Tsar!

Interesting pic, Doctor!

Need to find a better way to secure the leather to the handle but works out pretty good.
I like your idea for the higonokami, Jonny; that looks very effective! I’ve had a piece of leather I intend to use that way, but I’ve never made up my mind about how I want to attach the leather to the handle. Thanks for another idea to consider!

Rigging season, using this one today.

image_zpsgudkx31d.jpeg
deskil and Bob and Ben, I think those are all very compelling photos!

…Harvester along for the ride today, suprised how useful the pruning blade really is.

Fine choice again, Tom! Does the pruning blade on your Harvester have an unusual grind (e.g., a chisel grind)?

…Today, a new love and an older friend.

Dean, that’s a cool twist on the old concept of a black/white pairing!

Now that the semester is winding down, I am able to relax and begin reading for the sake of learning and pleasure. I am back to the Boker 494. I tried going back to others, but this one cant stay out of my pocket for long...

I always enjoy seeing your Böker, Ben. Do you read Dutch, or just read about Dutch Reformed theologians like Bavinck??

I don't think I've shown the horn Joker or the red Vic Classic I'm carrying this week:

Hmm, looks like all I currently have is a group shot containing my Classic:

I don't read Dutch; Greek is enough of a struggle for now! This book is actually "Man; The Image of God" by G.C. Berkouwer. I would love to read Bavnick eventually, though.
