What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Wow. Took a couple days off the porch...
Some great reading and beauty knives being posted.

Those beans are starting to grow on me, and I like both my snakes and my 'nuts (what? talkin' bout knives here! :D), but dem Coy-otes have managed to kick everything else out of my watch pocket nearly every day.

That G10 'nut really is fascinating, though I think you sell it short with the Irish Imperial comparison. Those Case 'nuts are substantial knives for such little fellas. I always felt like I had to baby those composite import Imperials. I am rapidly becoming a big fan of those Case Carhartts, too. I dig the odd bolster shape that seems to be consistent across the line and there are some really nice combinations of pattern and blade available.

I think I was referring to the Case Tan Caliber composite peanut. I will have to go back and check the pic.

Do have the Carhartt nut and love the bolsters too. I like that they aren't polished and match the as ground blades.

Not as much selection on the baby butterbean. Would love to see the yellow delrin re-released in CV. Highly considering the one in sambar stag. The 6.5 bone stag looks good too.

As for the peanut. If I decide on a whim to carry one, it's usually the harvest orange pocket worn bone. Case hit the nail on the head with the pocket worn series.

I'll have to check out those coyotes [emoji106]

Tyler

Walnut TC...hmm, what blade? :D

Love that knife, Dan. Wish they were doing Micarta or maybe Ebony on the upcoming SFO run.

I've had this one a while, but haven't carried it before today. Sharpened it up last night (I have a hard time not sharpening a new knife before I carry it for the first time, unless the factory edge is just really good) and dropped it in my pocket this morning. Before I bought this, I wasn't sure about the Nifebrite acrylic, but I really think it looks great in person. Think I'll keep this one with me for at least a few days this week.

Classy carry Gev

That's a looker Bob

Very nice indeed Ron

I was inspired by this exchange to carry this MOP pipe knife that's seen its fair share of wear since the 4th of July in '49 when it was presumably gifted to J.H.C. What's left of the blade is surprisingly sharp, and I decided to take a few extra snaps after I got home because I figure Mr. Black will have some input beyond its inscription and generic "Made in Sheffield England" tang stamp. :o

Thanks for showing this beautiful pipe tool TB, the MOP covers make it very unusual I think. The plain 'Sheffield' tang stamps are very common, and one of the reason for them is that they are often used on advertising knives, where the advertiser didn't want his name overshadowed by the maker of the knife. I suspect that this knife may have been sold by a high-class tobacconist or jeweller as a bespoke item. The tools seem to have some similarity to the knife below. These knives, which are the best-made of the pipe tools I've found, commonly had tangs stamped like your own. They were regularly discreetly marked 'Clifton Pipe Tool' (I think Paul Hilborn has one like this I sent him). The knife shown DOES have a tang-stamp, as well as the 'Clifton Pipe Tool' mark, and it is that of Sheffield cutler, Dawes & Ball. However, pipe knives were sold by a great many Sheffield cutlers, including Joseph Rodgers (I have a later example, but it is not as nicely made as the 'Clifton' in my opinion). Of course, the other thing of note about your knife is the stainless blade. I would guess it was made pre-WW2

Nice mop pipe knife. I wonder if that knife was gifted on the 7th of April, rather than the 4th of July? Being an English knife, after all. :)

If it was engraved in England, that would definitely be the case r8shell

Yes, I imagine you're right. I generally tend to avoid that notation in favor of Y/M/D - files better and avoids confusion. It would make a delicious coincidence if I could find someone stateside with the initials J.H.C. and gift it to them on 4 July, though. :D Either way, I've got about 33 years to make it happen.

:D

Fantastic pic Dan

These two for me today :)

Well here is my consolation prize to not being able to find a 38 whittler. This makes my first queen made knife, first Schatt and Morgan, and first worm groove.

Nice one, Jeff!

Inspired by Chief's (John) magnificent Lanny's Clip 6 pack, I put my Brent Cramer Lanny's Clip Jr. in my pocket today.

Beautiful old congress there Gev :)

Love the picture, how are you enjoying your maverick Cody?

I really like it, however I was/am just trying to fill the void of not being able to find courthouse whittler or grinling. So as much as I think it's an amazingly classy functional EDC, I still have a hole in my life for the whittlers. :)

Good luck with the move Tom, I'm sure you'll be well-equipped in the knife department! :)

These two for me today :)

Thanks Jack! I don't recognize knife #2 or my brain just isn't working this morning, beautiful covers, very classy sir

Stunning LC Gary

The forecast is for storms all week so I am carrying some color when possible.

Beautiful old congress there Gev :)

Edit: oops, I forgot to put my own in today; its a farmer - lots to do in the garden now that the weather has turned :)

I appreciate that kind Sir! So glad the weather has turned for you and that knife would make anyone smile ear to ear!!!

Thanks Jack. I'm liking it so far. One of the better efforts from S&M/Queen. It has a nice flat grind which is a departure from what I'm used to from Queen, so that's a nice plus. The stag is quite nice too. :D

Absolutely lovely Gary, that is some stellar stag

Two fine knives and just splendid pictures of them! I appreciate your kinds works on my Eastern:D

Thank you very much my friend :)

Thanks Tom, I wish that I could tell you more than that I bought it from an antiques shop in Sheffield last week, it's in very good conditions, carbon steel spearpoint blade, and 4 1/4" (closed) - no tang stamp I'm afraid :(

Good stuff Bob :)

This Sowbelly again, really loving it.

Has anyone seen Harald (HMoore I think is his username) post his new Queen single blade trapper? I wanna know how he likes it.

Connor
