What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Took a ride on the mountain bike today and had my #78 American Jack and the TC NewDay with me.

Beautiful Duo, AJ. The bone on both is superb.

Mine today. Thought it needed a little solo pocket time.

Nice Barlow, Mitch.

I carried my TC spearpoint again today.

…Catching up on this thread after a busy weekend preparing to move. 5 glorious pages of traditional beauty, thank you everyone for contributing. For me today:

Two terrific knives, Tom ; your Camillus scout always gives me “warm fuzzies” (as do so many of the vintage knives I see here)! I hope your move goes smoothly; across town or across the country?

Congrats! You decided on a whittler to get, eh? It looks like a champion!

I can't decide, probably one of these. ;) :)

NPEGg2X.jpg
Daily dilemma, eh, Ted? I’d go with one or both of what I see front and center: looks like a 2014 Forum knife and a chestnut bone Sodbuster Jr? Both happen to be in my carry this week!

G.T.,
Absolutely love the Lambsfoot!!
Thanks, Mitch; I was lucky enough to win it in a GAW held by R.c.s., a British BF member. :)

GT Most kind, I am using it a lot now and the etch has gone. Nice to see the Little Green Canoe is still seaworthy,:D not bad bone on it really!
…
The loaf comes from a new bakery 'Aroma Vasa' that's opened up in a fine old bank building. The woman who owns it and another outlet, actually won first prize on a National TV bake off contest in 2014. They do this sour dough, plus a wonderful Fransk Råg French Rye, cakes to order and weekly special loaves. It's not cheap as it's artisan but it's always sold-out. The staff who work there are very friendly and knowledgable about bakery items and flours and one Blonde is one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, breathtaking:thumbup:
…
Regards to all, Will
Will, the bone on the H&R mini-canoe is very pleasing; thanks again for a superb knife. (I’m keeping at least one eye open for a full size H&R canoe with matching bone.) Sounds like we need some pics of the bakery; you seem quite taken with the staff! ;)

…Today I carried these two. A 14 Forum knife and a Vic Electrician.

I'm off to my friends camp for trout fishing and beverage consumption for the next week or so.

Have a good one everyone!!

Ken K.
Dynamic duo, Ken; I happen to be carrying both of those models this week, so in my totally unbiased opinion, I think you have phenomenal taste! Have a wonderful time at camp; inspired by your plans, I may try some trout consumption and beverage fishing myself! ;)

…Thanks a lot GT :) As so often seems to happen, my friend was late lighting the barbecue, but I managed to grab a couple of burgers as I was leaving ;)
…
Glad you got some burgers to go, Jack! :)

Thanks for expanding my horizons, Gev. I’ve never seen a knife like that one before!

S&M #69 Straight Stag Jack.

Tasty toasty stag, Bob!

Took a ride on the mountain bike today and had my #78 American Jack and the TC NewDay with me.
9GAjBIu.jpg
That’s a captivating couple of knives, AJ; the 78 especially captured my attention! I wonder why we don’t see more of that model here (or am I just not paying attention)?

I have tried the baby butterbean, mini copperhead and peanut for my ideal go-to small knife. The peanut comes in a close second. I don't like snakes. But, Lord, I just love the open water.

…
PinB, you certainly seem well-equipped for open water! What an attractive BBB!

…
Today was a Micarta Monday for me. :D

Sublime (and squirrelly ;)) knife, Ron!

…@ GT thank you as well Gary. Good for you giving up Cigars. I only partake during the warm months;)
Thanks, Paul. Maybe I wouldn’t have had to give up cigars completely if I had your level of self-discipline. :)

I was inspired by this exchange to carry this MOP pipe knife that's seen its fair share of wear since the 4th of July in '49 when it was presumably gifted to J.H.C….

…
GT, I had seen your Q about the big stag canoe earlier before I gave up trying to answer all the replies from this thread while I was under deadline and unable to keep up. It's a Klaas Kissing Crane 1977 NKCA club gunboat, #3403, about 4¼" long . This particular one came in a lot and had a couple undisclosed cracks in the stag on the pile side, so it became a carry knife since I already have a pristine example. I took some individual photos before things got hairy last week.

The stockman is a German Bull GB-106. Not the greatest pic, sorry.

By the way, I have something for you. I will check if I received your email tonight.
…
Very cool pearl pipe knife, Tsar! And thanks for the additional info about and pics of those two stag examples. That gunboat is practically a battleship!

I really enjoyed this photo with the whitewater, Dan!

…
I’ve had this one a while, but haven't carried it before today. Sharpened it up last night (I have a hard time not sharpening a new knife before I carry it for the first time, unless the factory edge is just really good) and dropped it in my pocket this morning. Before I bought this, I wasn't sure about the Nifebrite acrylic, but I really think it looks great in person. Think I'll keep this one with me for at least a few days this week.

Brilliant knife, Barrett (pun intended)! :D

…These two for me today :)

Compelling combo, Jack!

Barlow
…
SR8UAO0.jpg
That’s a majestic, even imperial, little Barlow, Bloefield! ;)

Well here is my consolation prize to not being able to find a 38 whittler. This makes my first queen made knife, first Schatt and Morgan, and first worm groove.

…
I’ve heard high praises from many folks for the 38 whittler, but that S&M certainly looks premium. Congrats on your firsts with that exceptional knife, Jeff!

Steel clad in African Blackwood and Ebony for me today...

Thank you Ron, sometimes I stumble upon a notable duo:o A clean looking Micarta Viper, love the acorn shield:thumbup:

Paul - I don't think stumbling has anything to do with it my friend, just a good eye! ;) Thank you, I also like the Acorn Shield, which is apparently gone, but not forgotten.

Wow. Took a couple days off the porch...
Some great reading and beauty knives being posted.

Dan - A great photo, a couple days away from the porch and out in natures beauty!

Very nice indeed Ron

These two for me today :)

Jack - That is a great pair. I am liking the looks of that Stag mystery knife. :D

Inspired by Chief's (John) magnificent Lanny's Clip 6 pack, I put my Brent Cramer Lanny's Clip Jr. in my pocket today.

Gary - A beautiful knife indeed!

Today I was totin' this 85. To be honest when I first got this knife I did not really like the coloring on the handles, but now I really love them. :D

I took a quick ten mile trek in the mountains today. Not much to report, just a relaxing day in the forest. Like most times I'm in the forest, the Opinel No. 7 did most of my work for me. Because of that pesky burn watch, I switched the fire for a small wood stove. Still got to have my fire craft, but without the forest fires... Lunch was pretty great!

Nice stag Gary! Thanks for saying I inspired you.

Used the leftover scrap pieces from these covers to make matching earrings. Delivered them today to a fourth grade teacher friend.

Gary - Thank you, love these 2 choices. The Stag on that Colt is very appealing.

Paul - 2 terrific knives. :D I have the AB Orchard Gem, but that lovely Ebony Eureka has thus far eluded me.

A gorgeous pair of knives, Paul, that go very well together.

I've had knives like that. The longer I keep them, the more I like them. I can see why that one grew on you, Ron. It's a beauty!

Just stopped in to see what my knife friends have been posting lately. Many beautiful specimens !:)

It has been a particularly outstanding year for spring fishing this year and I have been busy devoting most all of my spare time to it. Lots and lots of fish caught and some good uns too.

My little Victorinox Mini Champ has been trimming a lot of line for me.

Early to bed - early to rise !

Be back more regularly when the fish allow it. ;):D

Best regards,

Mr. P.

Chief, that knife/earring set is awesome!

I was fooling around with my Boker Pen Knife today while bored.

I think I was referring to the Case Tan Caliber composite peanut. I will have to go back and check the pic.
Do have the Carhartt nut and love the bolsters too. I like that they aren't polished and match the as ground blades.
Not as much selection on the baby butterbean. Would love to see the yellow delrin re-released in CV. Highly considering the one in sambar stag. The 6.5 bone stag looks good too.
As for the peanut. If I decide on a whim to carry one, it's usually the harvest orange pocket worn bone. Case hit the nail on the head with the pocket worn series.
I'll have to check out those coyotes [emoji106]

I caught myself CF & CE the composite Wharnie-bladed Carhartt mini-trapper a number of times this weekend as it was sitting on my desk and easier to grab to open envelopes or slice mailing cartons than the folders in my pockets. For what is essentially a plastic-handled knife it sure does look and feel nice.

The peanuts rotate in and out from time to time but for the most part the 'yotes won't leave my watch pocket. I highly recommend the #18, I think it's a triumph of a pattern by GEC. Great idea, great execution, infinitely useful.

Thanks for showing this beautiful pipe tool TB, the MOP covers make it very unusual I think. The plain 'Sheffield' tang stamps are very common, and one of the reason for them is that they are often used on advertising knives, where the advertiser didn't want his name overshadowed by the maker of the knife. I suspect that this knife may have been sold by a high-class tobacconist or jeweller as a bespoke item. The tools seem to have some similarity to the knife below. These knives, which are the best-made of the pipe tools I've found, commonly had tangs stamped like your own. They were regularly discreetly marked 'Clifton Pipe Tool' (I think Paul Hilborn has one like this I sent him). The knife shown DOES have a tang-stamp, as well as the 'Clifton Pipe Tool' mark, and it is that of Sheffield cutler, Dawes & Ball. However, pipe knives were sold by a great many Sheffield cutlers, including Joseph Rodgers (I have a later example, but it is not as nicely made as the 'Clifton' in my opinion). Of course, the other thing of note about your knife is the stainless blade. I would guess it was made pre-WW2
...
These two for me today :)

Thank you as always for the information, sir. The pearl was what set it apart for me on first look, and I picked it up for a pittance considering the covers were mostly intact. They look fantastic when they catch the light just right and I enjoy the juxtaposition of such a utilitarian, "dirty" pattern with the elegance of the MOP.

The stag on that nameless jack is outstanding. If I were you I'd forget all about the absence of the tang stamp.

I carry a buck ranger

Welcome to the porch! Great selection, I'm on the hunt for a good 112 myself.

All bareheads today -- the Davis XTRA Barlow came out on its maiden pocket voyage with my trusty Wingen and the ubiquitous 'yote in tow. My eyes keep falling in love with the covers on the Barlows.

Love that knife, Dan. Wish they were doing Micarta or maybe Ebony on the upcoming SFO run.

I've had this one a while, but haven't carried it before today. Thanks Barrett.
I'm amazed that GEC wouldn't make a micarta run of talon giving how popular it was.
I pretty much enjoy looking at every 71 and flavour it comes in. :D
Is that one of yours in 01? I really enjoy 01 in my Sodbusters. Takes a very nice fine edge and holds a little longer then the 1095

Fantastic pic Dan

These two for me today :)

Thank you Jack

You bet Ron. I can't let beauty places like that go unexplored and unappreciated. ;)
That 85 looks like a win to me in EVERY aspect.
