What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

What a great picture. The colouring (and the knife ) are stunning.
Mine for today.

Something I purchased over the memorial day weekend - in video form!

GT, regarding the higo, when I grabbed it that morning I noticed a little rust, so I decided to sand it off. Well, I got a little carried away and decided to go for a mirror polished main bevel. Then I proceeded to botch it all up when I took it to the stones to put the edge back on.
But, it's all covered in a patina from the Memorial Day feast now.
Thanks for the back story, Erik. :) BTW, great photos of one of your fishing spots (but in a different thread, I think).

Fantastic. Now I'm getting "blocked" by Cloudflare (as if from a malicious IP) when I try to post certain multi-quoted replies... :grumpy:

In lieu of hoping the typed text just "shows up" in BF's flaky, quirky autosave feature, I'll just post today's totes (same as yesterday).

Still a great trio, TB ; what's the significance (if any) of the rocks appearing as photo props? Sorry to hear about your Cloudflare frustrations. I had my first such experience on Tuesday, when one particular innocuous post in jprime84's build-a-knife GAW thread repeatedly led to my being blocked; I didn't have the patience to try to track down the offending character, word, phrase, sentence, or paragraph.:(

Thanks GT :D  That's an eclectic selection you're carrying, lovely old Barlow
...
All Sheffield for me today, a J.Ryalls Sleeveboard and a Wheatley Brothers Tackler's Knife. Have a good day everyone

Thanks for the comments, Jack; someday I'd like to find another vintage Barlow to keep that one company. Your use of "eclectic" indicates that I succeeded in posting a set of knives totally lacking a unifying theme! :D
Your sleeveboard and tackler's knife are certainly a venerable pair!

Love that Blue Grass bolster stamp, GT!

I'm pulling another night shift with the old standbys: The Buck 55 and SAK Executive.

5sjbu3b.jpg
Thanks, Shawn. :) Did you peel a lot of oranges on your shift? ;) How do you like the Buck 55? I can't see myself ever carrying the iconic 110, but its "baby brother" 55 has some appeal for me.

morning hike

Good looking tortoise and boot lace lanyard on that Bull Nose, Steve!

Having lunch at work
Your lunch looks delicious, bozack, but is that a Canal Street Cannitler I see there? Now that is REALLY tasty!!:thumbup:

Thanks, Gary. I like that Belknap Barlow!
...
For Wooden Wednesday, I'm carrying a Walnut TC Barlow and an Osage Coyote.

Thanks for the Barlow compliment, Dean. :) Good wood for a Wednesday! I consider myself to be a multi-blade fan, but some of your single spear and spey TCs have me almost persuaded to convert!

Pretty as a picture!! What's the handle material? My first impression was some kind of acrylic, but then I thought it MUST be wood (not sure why I thought so). But as I studied the photo more, I've gone back to acrylic because I think I see shadows of the cloud shield and the pins.

...

I carried a H. Dorwal and a Vic Electrician today.

...
Ken K.
Another great pair, Ken; always fantastic to see the old cross Electrician!

These knives don't seem to get the fanfare here they once did I guess. I do still think it's one of the best GEC has ever put out and I really enjoy carrying mine.

Looks like a classic to me, Greg!!

...
This has only been here a few days and really like it. I had searched over two years for it, well worth the wait:thumbup:

K73RBf.jpg
Congrats on the ravishing 2-bladed sheepsfoot sawcut Charlow, Paul! It's good to hear that your patience paid off; that's a lesson I need to take to heart!

Gary - Thanks, it is a great knife! It is my favorite size at 3 3/4", it is slim and strongly built. That big clip blade is a wonderful slicer. And besides all that it is not to bad to look at.:D Love that Belknap!
...
I had my pockets full of Ebony today! :)

Thanks for listing some reasons that your Northfield Barlow is getting lots of pocket time recently, and for the Barlow compliment. :) Beautiful ebony, and you'll soon have an ebony Imperial from Jeff's build-a-knife GAW that will fit right in!

...
Got to carry my sunfish for WW, so that was good. It's funny how little you notice the difference in size between that big 'fish and the little 'yote in the picture. Having them side by side in hand is quite remarkable.

I have a pretty neat theme idea in mind for tomorrow. I just might need to borrow one of GT's belts, for load-bearing purposes... :D
Call me Goldilocks, but that one in the middle looks just right to me, Tsar! ;) Can't wait to hear about your theme; I enjoy all the various Sunday themes you've been trying out. :D Sorry I can't loan you my belt, since it's in daily use (but maybe that's an inspired idea for a GAW!).

Ebony PPP conductor for wooden Wednesday.

That's a very handsome knife, John!

Double Lambsfoot for me today! :D Plus another couple of dozen knives in my bag ;)

Classy pair of Lambsfoots (feet?), Jack! (Although my strained brain took up the refrain, "Mary had two little lambs...)

I'm away on the mainland staying with family friends just outside Carlisle for a couple of nights before making our way to Belfast to stay with the inlaws. We'll be there for a week-ish.

I've my number one 25 with me at the minute; 252208 tractor green, this and a Vic pioneer are the only pieces of cutlery I have with me for the trip.

Paul

I hope you and yours have a safe and enjoyable journey, Paul; the two knives you list should certainly be sufficient! Cool pic of your 25.

Here are the knives that moved from last week's pocket rotation to this week's kitchen duty:
Olive wood Joker

Canyon Creek sunfish

These Opinels have been in the kitchen all week, too. The #7 is a "permanent" kitchen knife, and the #6 has been tolerating a handle modification that involved 3 coats of tung oil finish that the can suggested had to be separated by 24 hours each. (Turns out that I removed enough wood in the handle mod that the blade tip is dangerously exposed, so the next step is my first attempt at reshaping the blade (from the standard Opinel drop point to a spearish shape, I hope).

Imagine my surprise this morning to wake up and find that my several "failed" attempts to post yesterday actually posted, despite repeated "Error 520" screens. Removing double post; sorry!

fantastic walnut TC by the way, Dean.

Thanks, TsarBomba.

Double Lambsfoot for me today! :D Plus another couple of dozen knives in my bag ;)

Both are good looking knives, Jack; I favor the ebony (?). With the dozen knives in your bag, I think you have officially passed GT in "the most Traditional knives carried at one time" competition!

Just had soup for lunch with this TC in my pocket.

I tried posting this much earlier today, but the website was "not responding". I'll try it again, even though it looks like no new posts have registered all day.

Looks like this late-afternoon attempt to submit a post originally written in the morning made it to BF, even though "Error 520" and inability to see any new posts from anyone all day yesterday prevented me from realizing it. Sorry for the duplicate posts, although it looks like many of us were plagued with that problem Thursday.

These two seemed right together. The peanut is new and I figured he'd be lonely if he was stag.

Thanks, Ron. A lambsfoot and a TC - that's a top notch combo!

Thanks Dean :)

Thanks Ron, whole lotta nice ebony on two great knives:cool::thumbup:

Thanks Paul :)

Those look good together Ron :) I'm going over to Sheffield today to meet the bloke who made your Lambsfoot, and the two I'm carrying today

Double Lambsfoot for me today! :D Plus another couple of dozen knives in my bag ;)

Jack - Thanks, they do compliment each other quite well, as does that pair your are traveling with today! Sounds like a great trip my friend! Wow, maybe someday! :D

I have this Dark Wood Gem today. :)

Sorry for the double post - took me awhile to realize that it wasn't me that was causing a problem.
