What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

The old Case Texas Jack in my pocket

21802397301_d3f84937f5_b.jpg
Grand old Case, Gev! Ironic that the pointy clip blade's belly gets smaller as it ages, while my belly gets bigger as I age! :(

There's a photo that really calls to mind the term "pocket jewelry"!

My wife got me this Case Peanut yesterday. My first Peanut. I now see what all the fuss is about!

Could be Cult contact coming! ;)

GT, I've keep meaning to comment on that USA schrade 93ot you posted a while back. I really enjoy seeing that knife! Also, it's funny you packed the tl-29 today. A friend of mine walked up to me earlier and handed me not one but TWO tl-29s! It's a pattern I've always wanted to try out but kept pushing them to the back burner.
1 mint and one modded with jigged wood handles:

I also had my precious with me tonight.

It was a good day!
Thanks for the kind words about the 93OT, Erik. :) Congrats on the TL-29s, and the opportunity to CF your Eureka!

...
No. 1 classic.
Probably my most carried blade when out in the bush.

Another cool photo, Dan! How do you typically carry your Mora when you're out and about?

...
And now I'm looking for two RRs in those pants. I've also had two of the sowbelly stock knives taken out from under me. This is nearly as bad as chasing GECs.
...
Good luck with your search! I've heard that "the chase" is supposed to be very enjoyable, but sometimes I have my doubts.

...
The Sowbelly is a very aesthetic pattern I think GT. Yes, I definitely need to start trying to tighten my belt! :D Thanks for the compliment my friend, that is a great selection of knives, very generous of Paul H. Love the Office Knife
...
Been a bit of a horn kick this week

Thanks for the kind words, Jack. :) Your pair of horns look fantastic! But be careful: I'll bet a horn habit is hard to kick!:p

My first barlow, a yankee just like me!

...
I carried mine again and knocked out another little chunk of the AT.

Those spearpoint 77 Barlows sure are handsome; thanks for sharing pics of yours, stef142, quaboag, & Erik!

...
I've got two canines with me today, too. A Coyote and a Terrier.

Your old and your new canines both look in the running for Best in Show, Rachel!

Thanks GT! Happy with my new place, and simultaneously happy to be back home on the Porch. I know, very out of character for me to be without a scout, see what two weeks away will do to a person ;)? Outstanding Office knife , what is the length of that?
...
Esky with a very capable Primble for me today.

Splendid pair, Tom! What are the covers on that Esky Zulu?
Thanks for the Office Knife comment. That knife is 3.75 inches long; I always think of it as a "little pen knife", but it's actually pretty sizable. Must have been more office cutting to do back in the day than I have to do in my office today! ;)

another day behind the desk.

Nice shot of your knife (and I "got" the mug message without needing the parenthetical "translation" :D).

Exquisite elegance!!

Great knives everyone!!! I didn't post when the forum was making adjustments.

These are what I carried in the past few days.

Have a great day everyone!

Ken K.
Interesting pile of pocket knives, Ken; kind of like a treasure hunt seeing what you have in there!

Gev & Ernie, those are "pearls of great price"!!

My first slippie purchase in too many years...... OLD, and USED......just the way I like 'em. And carbon steel. This one WILL see lots of pocket duty:

Congrats on a fine acquisition, sir!! It may be old, but it doesn't look like it's TOO used - LOT of blade there.

...
My Wooden Wednesday totes:

Wonderful Wednesday wood, TB!

When I first heard about shields that would say "Beer Scout Knife", I never imagined that I'd use the term "dignified" for any knife wearing such a shield. But Ryan, that is a very classy, dignified knife you've got there!!

Long time, no see!! Sweet knife!

...
I'm carrying these two today

Just a stellar pair, Jack! You and those knives could form a trio, a band: Jack Black and the HeartBreakers!! :D (Apologies to Tom Petty.)

Carrying this old Shapleigh Diamond Edge Barlow today.
That, and the Cattaraugus Barlow I saw in another thread, are fabulous, Atiger; congrats!! Where do you find such breathtaking Barlows??

them bones, them bones, them white bones.

Wow, that's a stunner!

My mail delivery woman informed me that she's moving to another route after 20 years on the same one (delivered to me for the last 8) and she made me sign for the last package that she would deliver to me...

Reese Bose Diamond Edge Cattlman's Knife in CPM 154 and green jigged bone. I'm 100% blown away!!!!

That's perfect pocket knife poetry, Jake; congratulations!!

These two workers today
Awesome couple of classics!!

...
I've got my Washington Jack and my Robeson Barlow in my pocket today. Pocket jewelry today, really, as I haven't done much that requires a knife. Too busy taking care of mama and baby. Older picture of the WJ.

Just cut out all sugar and use the knives to sweeten things. Those sweet ones will do fine:D Thanks Gary ...always enjoy your comments!

My favorites for today. Thanks for the compliments on my finds!

:)

Nice pic Paul, that's a very photogenic WLST

Wow! Congratulations Jake, stellar knife

Classics both

Thanks for the kind words, Jack. Your pair of horns look fantastic! But be careful: I'll bet a horn habit is hard to kick!

LOL! Thanks my friend :D  I like your classic line-up, three great knives. I particularly like the pic of your Electrician

I love the cardboard cutout of the peanut that you always post with the knife GT. I don't know why but it always makes me laugh a little (not at you of course!!)

Jack, question for you. Is the stove-pipe kick specific to the lambsfoot pattern or a specific maker of the lambsfoot? I see it on many of your knives and it's on the diagram in your signature as well...

(I know other knives and makers have used this style kick but it seems that most of your lambsfoot knives have it.)

As usual, very nice knives everyone!

Thanks for the comments Tsar and Gary. Tsar, the 25 is an Esnyx modification.

I like your Schrade Gev.

Today I carried a last years Forum knife and a Vic Popular.

e6eh9zWl.jpg

Have a good one all.

Ken K.

They look very well together too Ken. Nice Tiger stripes/knots on your Forum Knife and the Vic looks like it's earned its merits on the field of play.

Thanks, Will

Been a while since I've posted anything but I've been carrying this 22 almost exclusively. It's slowly but surely starting to show some signs of pocket wear.

How do you like that Case toe? That one looks good!

Thank you! I'm a big fan of the sunfish/elephant toe pattern. This one is actually a user knife specifically, as I have a near-mint example (with the etch) safely tucked away in the safe. I've been looking for excuses to carry it more often lately. It's a sizeable knife but the thickness allows it to ride comfortably in the LFP and they're built like a brick outhouse so you know they can hold up to almost any cutting chore. The only downside is that you essentially have two very broad spear blades on the same knife, so I almost always have another knife or two along for the ride.

Reese Bose Diamond Edge Cattlman's Knife in CPM 154 and green jigged bone. I'm 100% blown away!!!!

Can't blame you. That's every bit a Bose and the bone is absolutely spectacular. Glad I'm not the only one who likes that color.

Thanks for the comments Tsar and Gary. Tsar, the 25 is an Esnyx modification.

Very nice. I may have to inquire after Evan's availability soon.

The rain has kept me inside all day so my carries have also been in "pocket jewelry" mode today. The Bower has been getting some CF for most of the day. I haven't even had a chance to clean it up properly, as it arrived yesterday, but I had to slip it in the pocket this morning anyway. :o

Thanks Tom, that's another great pairing, looks like you're starting to get settled into your new home my friend :)

Thanks Jack, yes settling in nicely, getting back to what passes for "normal" for me :).

Lovely pairing today, Tom!!

Thank you kindly Gev!

Splendid pair, Tom! What are the covers on that Esky Zulu?

HA! I would have thought it would be peanut sized, that is surprising. Guess they did have more to cut now that I think about it. The zulu is giraffe bone, which is supossed to be extremely dense. It has a warm feeling to it and I really like the complexity.

Boy howdy, you guys are posting up some real beauties !!! colour me green with envy :) I recently picked up this small Rough Rider whittler, 3" closed and rides in the watch pocket just fine and while it certainly needed to be sharpened up, it did so well and seems to keep the edge too. Has a split back spring, so one each for each of the smaller blades and combined for the main spear point blade.

Good question Jake :) No, not specific to the Lambsfoot or to any particular maker, just a common feature on old knives. I guess it's the simplest style of kick, and probably the easiest to file down in the days when the tip of a knife lifting out of the frame due to wear on the spring was more of an issue than it is today. I just happen to have a few older Lambsfoot knives :o

Here's a Joseph Haywood (with a Spearpoint blade), which I think has a nice stove-pipe (or top-hat) kick :)

Square tangs are still to be found on Sheffield knives, such as my Arthur Wright Lambsfoot knives for example (the background is a waste strip of steel after the basic shape of the blades has been stamped out of the strip with a hand-operated 50-ton press - note that the outline is slightly deformed).

Thanks Jack, yes settling in nicely, getting back to what passes for "normal" for me :)..

Good to hear Tom :)

Thanks to one of the best forum members ever ! :)
This beauty 👍🏻

Now I just hope they get along

Thanks Jake, it's an inexpensive knife that's surprised me by it's build and usefulness.
G2

Hmmm, that sure does look familiar to another one you're famous for... :D

Indeed it does :D. I never thought I would say the 55 is a tank but it is. The little coyote has such a thin blade and just disappears in the pocket. I have been carrying some pocket fixed blades to compliment it but I just never need them so they stay in the truck most days.

So many fine knives posted, guys. Amazing variety, and not a bad one in the bunch.
