What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Happy weekend everyone!

Rachel, I always like looking at that knife and remembering the story of how it came into your possession.

Gev and smcclown05 outstanding photos that make me hungry every time I look at them! And, it gives me an idea: we need a Breakfast and Blades thread!

Others have mentioned it, but I can't resit throwing my hat in the ring, too: I love how that copper has aged!

Thank you kindly, josha! And welcome:D

With my coffee and the Bootsy Boots at my feet

Dan - Nice 92 Talon.

These 2 for me today.:D 92 Goldenrod Talon and 73 Stag.:D Have a safe weekend!

Happy belated birthday !
That's making me hungry... Again!

Finished my week of straight edged carry off with a gooder. :D

Jack, I find myself always looking in the background of your pics....after looking at the knives of course! It's like a game trying to figure out exactly what's back there.

Hi Paul! Nice to read about your visit with Duncan and Sue. Sounds like you all had a great time. I'm sure a few "salsa jars" were enjoyed!

Jack, I find myself always looking in the background of your pics....after looking at the knives of course! It's like a game trying to figure out exactly what's back there.

Thanks for your interest Jake :D :) The background in the middle pic today is Sandal Castle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandal_Castle), and in the lower one, it an old packhorse bridge over the Rochdale Canal between the West Yorkshire mill towns of Todmorden and Hebden Bridge

I usually don't carry a knife to work. Today I did. Can't depict it though, because I lost it on, or on the way to, the buss. It was my favorite carry, a 4 blade tortoise congress by Rough Rider. Doesn't hit me very hard in a monetary sense. It bugs me big time though. It was the perfect knife for me and I really loved the color of the handles. It seems hard to find one exactly like it. (Available from Sweden). Oh well, perhaps a new favorite will emerge from its ashes.

Sorry for your loss Josh :( I lost a knife in the early 1970's, and it STILL bugs me! :grumpy:

A new friend and a daily carry since I received it. Raggy the rag-bone Barlow.

That's a fantastic example, Dean. The other day, a dealer I had contacted months back let me know that he had gotten some in. I had a hard time deciding between antique yellow and black cherry...would have gone with the saw cut if I could know it would have looked like yours.

Thanks Guys! GT, surprisingly (due to it being a single straight edge blade), I'm really liking it. It's been with me every day since it arrived last week.
...
That's one nice canoe you've got there
...
Great choice. Not surprisingly, I'm carrying the same one again today. Although for some reason, mine doesn't have the "Real Lambfoot" etch.

I'm about to fire up the smoker for my 17ish lbs of pork shoulder for our Canada Day party tonight. Have a great day everyone!

...
Thanks for the "update", Mike; I'm glad you're liking that Wright lambsfoot (and thanks for the canoe comment). :) Looks like you had quite a Canada Day party on Friday! I did a little holiday grilling yesterday (on my 1'x2' Sunbeam Patio Master gas grill), but instead of 17 pounds of pork shoulder, I did about 2 pounds of kielbasa, an ever-popular All-American holiday meaty treat! :D

Hope you all enjoy the weekend
...
Aristocratic congress, JSCHENK!

Strickly pioneers for the next few weeks, while on vacation.
This personal favorite is riding along tonight
As a Detroit Tiger fan, I find the color combination on your Alox totally beguiling, Captain! I have a black Pioneer, so I'm gonna get some orange Alox!

...
Thanks, Gary. That work knife (sodbuster) looks like a handy and handsome helper.

This morning I had "Raggy" with me on my walk/run. Just as I snapped this photo, the skies let loose with a horrendous downpour with thunder and lightning accompaniment! I tried to call my wife to pick me up as I was a couple miles from home - to no avail. So, I took off running. Halfway back and I realized I had left Raggy in the tree. I turned around in the rain to go get it. Bottom line, I arrived home very tired, totally drenched, but Raggy was dry and content in a pocket.
...
Later, I changed over to these two for the rest of the day.

...
Thanks for the kind words GT, much appreciated! Stupendous Selection of Sliciness Sir :).
Dean & Tom, accolades for the admirable, adorable, appealing, and appreciated alliteration! :D
Dean, that storm story was suspenseful and I'm glad it had a happy ending!
What a couple of compelling spearpoints!

Happy Canada Day!!
...
For Canada Day, it's a Grohmann a Richards Mountie Knife and an appropriate Vic Classic.

Have a good one all!

Ken K.
Dazzling knife choices for the holiday, Ken; you're a man with knives for EVERY occasion!

...
Thank you for the kind words Gary.:) I like the looks of your #8 Garden knife....

I came to realize that I had not carried this Ebony 72 Jack in almost a year. Today I remedied that!...

Thanks, Ron. Exquisite Ebony 72, and nice to see your nickel again!

...
Got the Case 47 in my pocket again.

-Greg
Still looks flawless, Greg!

I carried this Case half whittler in smooth antique bone today.

Yikes! What a glorious knife! I've never been particularly drawn to smooth bone covers, but there are some awfully appealing examples posted here recently!

...
But since I've been rotating the same few knives over and over lately I figured I would spice it up by throwing the Camillus into the mix.
I just LOVE that saber clip with the matchstrike pull!
Ct8a0EZ.jpg
How could I forget that you have that honorable old Camillus, Erik?? Great to see it again!

These today . My normal 73 and one I found day before yesterday . An old Schmachtenberg Bros. Made in Solingen circa 1887 to 1939. I originally thouht the handles were wood , but I now believe that they may be Horn. Sharpened up very well.

...
Harry
Schmachtenberg Bros. is a new one for me, Harry, but that's an inspiring old knife! Shield and blade stamp are very cool!!

...
Hope everyone has a great weekend  Still no sign of summer here :( Thought I had better put some sunshine in my pocket

Sorry to hear you're getting shortchanged on summer weather, Jack; I waited 7 months for the return of warm weather and the past 6 weeks or so have been well worth the wait! But if your disappointing weather means we get to see your joy-inducing Oxhorn more frequently, then I have to selfishly declare that's an almost-worthwhile trade-off!

That stag Otter is a total knockout, zolthar!

...
This one refuses to leave my pocket:

Laudable, lovely lambsfoot, Greg, with yet another great shot of its luxurious horn covers!!

It is supposed to rain constantly all weekend, 3 - 6 inches in total where I live, so not a lot of great light for knife pics. This was the best I could manage without getting soaked :), a custom Shaerk and my orange farmer.

Stay dry, Tom; that's a LOT of rain! Mesmerized by that mint orange Farmer!

Can't decide.

_DSC0474_zpshllw2ocw.jpg
I can see your dilemma, but the solution is simple, picturerock: Stick one noble Barlow in LFP and the other in RFP! ;)

These 2 for me today.:D 92 Goldenrod Talon and 73 Stag.:D Have a safe weekend!

Your stag 73 is outstanding, Ron!

I haven't whittled anything in a while, so when I got this gem recently I felt obligated given the pattern. This is always a fun project for me to jump back into it.
That Grinling whittler is phenomenal, and the product is pretty prestigious, too!!!

...
Here's me today.

Jack, I certainly am enjoying the frequency with which you've been carrying your oxhorn, your buffalo horn, and your Abbeydale recently. All quintessential pocket knives!!

Happy weekend everyone!

Enjoy your renowned GSA green on a trip down memory lane, r8shell!

Scrumptious pic, Gev (although I have to confess I've never mixed blueberries and fried eggs in my first 64 years)! What's that slick folder??

Tasteful tandem of classics, Randy! (Did I read recently that you'd lost your Seahorse Whittler? Have you found it back?)

A new friend and a daily carry since I received it. Raggy the rag-bone Barlow.

Raggy is certainly unique, Dean!

...
Today I carried these two.

Have a good one all!

Ken k.
Love the vintage old cross Alox, Ken and Pokerface!

Equipped myself with the knives prescribed by "The Schedule" for this week. (I hope to update the schedule today to incorporate a number of knives I've acquired since I put my weekly rotation schedule together.) Among this week's knives are:
a Kutmaster stockman

a Vic black Pioneer and silver Electrician

a Camillus electrician

an Imperial toothpick

Thanks GT :) I can't remember the last time we had a period of prolonged hot weather! If I'd known I was going to live in a country perpetually blighted with rain, I'd have emigrated years ago! :grumpy: Glad you're getting some decent weather yourself. The Oxhorn might be the only summer I get! ;)

I'm enjoying your schedule my friend, and look forward to seeing what else you've got up your sleeve (tucked in your socks, under your hat, etc) this week ;)

Gentlemen's carries today,

Bob Crowder fixed, full polish, tapered tang, dove tailed Seymchan meteorite bolsters and mammoth tooth; Tom Overeynder serpentine trapper, black lip pearl and gold pins and shield
