What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Great pics everyone! I always enjoy the breakfast pics.

Knives can be red but, tractors are green. I picked this one to be festive. I wasn't crazy about this bright red color, however it's growing on me with age.
Have fun and safe pyrotechnics. Happy 4th of July!

Frontier (think Imperial/Schrade) 4134 3-1/4" Stockman likely made in Ireland a number of years ago. Found it beat up on my Dad's workbench. Nobody knows where it came from or how long it had been there. This picture is after I had cleaned it up.

The Aitor Castor does really excel in the kitchen, I expect the similarly leafy blade shape and thin stock of the Lierenaar is the same.

Pity they stopped making the Castor :(

Patina + Mirror? Yes please.

My oft carried GEC Eureka Jack. Wish they'd do another run soon.

Great knives everyone!

Thanks for the comments Gary.

Since it's the 4th of July I thought I'd carry a little red, white and blue.

Oh they did? Didn't even know, and was still planning on getting the smaller and larger one. Pfff...

It really is good in the kitchen. The Lierenaar gives a bit more real estate in the hand, though being slightly more clumsy. I just love the history of the Lierenaar a lot more since I practically live on the axis of the area where it was first made and used. And I like the blade a bit better. Love me some belly...

Sadly so G'shark. The Pallares Solsona is the only real alternative, and a bit more spendy.

I hope to experience the Lierenaar first hand sometime soon. Thanks in part to your threads about them in the past.

With a Belgian great aunt, I thought I had an excuse to get one...not to mention my penchant for some of the more curious, workmanly European styles.

Hmmm, been having a quick Google search and indeed they aren't readily available anymore. That is really unpleasant to say the least. Might find some after a thorough search.

Definitely get a Lierenaar before they too get disco'd. You never know, and I'm unsure if they're good sellers.

Don't let the blockyness of the handle hold you back. Just sand it down a bit. Maybe paint and varnish it, just make it your own and I'm sure you'll like it. Maybe not for Pocket carry, but definitely in the kitchen or for the occasional picknick.

Thanks for the tips. Yes, I'm sure it'll find it's placed, who knows it may even venture to the woods with me every now and then.

Finished my week of straight edged carry off with a gooder. :D

An outstanding photo of a gorgeous knife, Dan! Deep Sawcut Barlow!!!:thumbup: Thanks for a new wallpaper for my PC. :)

That's real nice Dean

Thanks, Jack! I smile every time I see that rope knife photo - Popeye and a ship for a background.

That's a fantastic example, Dean. The other day, a dealer I had contacted months back let me know that he had gotten some in. I had a hard time deciding between antique yellow and black cherry...would have gone with the saw cut if I could know it would have looked like yours.

Thanks, Mike! You're right, it's a throw of the dice what you will get - I lucked out. Take a look at the Ragg-bone Sawcut Copperhead beauty Phillll got!

Dean, that storm story was suspenseful and I'm glad it had a happy ending!
What a couple of compelling spearpoints!

Raggy is certainly unique, Dean!

Happy Independence Day to those celebrating that US holiday!!

Thank you for the kind comments, Gary. I find your electrician splendiferous! I hope you have a great Independence Day, too!

I may be starting off the day a little sheepishly  but things may get more festive later ;):D

Colorful bone on that one, Ron!

I woke this morning to hear whimpering from the top of my dresser and finally realized it was Coco the Slim Calf Roper pining for some pocket carry. So, he and Ole Yeller the TC Trapper Barlow are sharing the honors today.

This is as close to red white and blue as I can get, so into my pocket it goes. Happy Independence Day my fellow Americans, and a grand day to all our friends in foreign lands.

Nice one Gary, a present from your wife, if I remember correctly? CSC made a great knife, they are missed. I wish I would have kept the ones I had, but they made such great gifts.

Yes, you've got a good memory, Kris. I put this "Pinch" in my pocket now and then. I miss CSC too. I've managed to hang on to a few of theirs. At this point I'll hang onto them for my sons, I think.
