Seeing as I'm struggling with image hosting sites still, I'm recycling a photo - it's what I'm carrying today.

Thanks GT :) I can't remember the last time we had a period of prolonged hot weather! If I'd known I was going to live in a country perpetually blighted with rain, I'd have emigrated years ago! :grumpy: Glad you're getting some decent weather yourself. The Oxhorn might be the only summer I get! ;)

I'm enjoying your schedule my friend, and look forward to seeing what else you've got up your sleeve (tucked in your socks, under your hat, etc) this week ;)
Jack, I hope you get some "real summer" soon. Thanks for the comment on this week's rotation. I haven't yet tried (nor do I plan to :p) any up the sleeve, under the hat, or sock carry, but I DID see a photo in another thread of a gentleman wearing what you called "belt and braces" and I could certainly see THAT in my future! ;)

Gentlemen's carries today,

Bob Crowder fixed, full polish, tapered tang, dove tailed Seymchan meteorite bolsters and mammoth tooth; Tom Overeynder serpentine trapper, black lip pearl and gold pins and shield

Astonishing "pocket jewelry", literally!! Incredible knives, Kris!

...
Thanks Gary. :) You have scheduled some great choices for the week! Have a good 4th my friend! :D

I may be starting off the day a little sheepishly  but things may get more festive later ;):D

Thanks, Ron. Your Barlow is Truly Captivating!

Aitor Castor and Lierenaar today. Food prep is the order of the evening, so... Classic wooden handles, love these trads.

That Aitor Castor is very enticing! Is it the big, small, or medium model?

...
Pity they stopped making the Castor :(
Oh, no! I've wanted one of those for a year and a half, but procrastinated! OK, looks like the Big River has a few left at the moment.

...
Since it's the 4th of July I thought I'd carry a little red, white and blue.

nKhuSeel.jpg

Happy 4th all!

Ken K.
Fantastic four for the Fourth, Ken! (That would be a challenging theme for a month: carry as many knives each day as the current date!)

...
Thank you for the kind comments, Gary. I find your electrician splendiferous! I hope you have a great Independence Day, too!
...
I woke this morning to hear whimpering from the top of my dresser and finally realized it was Coco the Slim Calf Roper pining for some pocket carry. So, he and Ole Yeller the TC Trapper Barlow are sharing the honors today.

Thanks, Dean; although it's an "old work knife", I think that Camillus is one of the most attractive knives I have. I wish I could hear MY knives speak to me; your pair LOOKS great, and apparently communicates well, too!

This is as close to red white and blue as I can get, so into my pocket it goes. Happy Independence Day my fellow Americans, and a grand day to all our friends in foreign lands.

...
Yes, you've got a good memory, Kris. I put this "Pinch" in my pocket now and then. I miss CSC too. I've managed to hang on to a few of theirs. At this point I'll hang onto them for my sons, I think.
Very patriotic, Gary! (Why the term "Pinch" for some of those Canal Street lockbacks?)

It's a wet and soggy Fourth here but it's hard to stay gloomy with a sharp piece of steel in your pocket.

IwTTrhW.jpg
You take some impressive photos, sir/madam!!

Got it a few hours ago, straight out of the tube and into my pocket!

NK.jpg
Congrats on that new Navy Knife!

It's the 100th anniversary of Nathan's Famous Hot Dogs, and I'm watching the Fourth of July hot dog eating contest with a 100 year old Terrier.

Happy Independence Day!
Terrific centenary Terrier, r8shell! What's the setting of the photo, with that big old "hitching ring" or whatever it is?

...
Good wholesome fun. Now I'm going to open a beer and enjoy one hot dog. Maybe two. :)
That sounds like heavenly holiday happiness! ;)

Happy 4th!

Thanks for the patriotic holiday photos, folks!:cool: deltaboy, those are some American classics you have! TheFactor, I always admire your Osage Orange! FBC, that's a fancy Buck and what looks like some alien ordnance you've posted!!

...
I've got an American trio helping on the grill today. Robeson Barlow, Camillus TL-29, and Case Mini Copperhead holding down the fort. Lotsa meat cooked today!

aDqrsrP.jpg

a20l6wq.jpg

My incredible wife whipped up some from-scratch bbq baked beans (made with only one CUP of Bourbon) and some lovely potato salad to try to balance out the meat fest that I created.
Love that Mini Copperhead, and the beans and potato salad look fabulous (as well as the meat, of course)! Was the little hot dog and bun for the baby?? :D

I'm off to sunny Huddersfield in the morning to see ADEE. Going to have a load of recent acquisitions in my bag, and these two in my pockets :)

...
Hope it was an enjoyable trip, Jack; looks like you're adequately equipped for traveling!

I had todd make this one specially to carry at my wedding, gave him no rules. He really nailed it. I've been staring at it for 3 weeks (I wasn't carrying until wedding). Now that's done (Saturday) and I can carry it some.

Thank you. And I agree. There's some beautiful knives in this thread but I admit that my own is now my favorite lol
Congrats on your marriage and your outstanding new Davison! Having your own be your favorite is a very healthy attitude, and I hope you and your new bride can feel that way about each other "till death do you part"!

Having a hard time deciding what to carry today

I think I'm going to go with the peanut

Taramundis on the other side of the scale

It's neither of those sorry.
As some of you know Taramundi is actually a little village in the NW is Spain that earned a lot of prestige for the quality of the pocket knives.
Actually all the frontier region between Asturias and Galicia has a lot of blacksmithing tradition and that knife is from Santalla(another village) and it has a more intricate design carved on the handle and then submerged in a shellac to fill the pattern, also the ferrule or bolster is more elaborated than in Taramundi knives, usually file worked.
Sorry the little offtopic
Mateo
Attractive selection of knives from which to choose, Mateo! My daughter lives in Madrid, and I bought a Taramundi when I went to visit her; I really like my Taramundi (with a scorched boxwood handle), and yours are also splendid. What is the handle of the Calvin Taramundi?

Old red bone Cattaraugus Barlow today...

Ravishing, Atiger!

Grew up a mets fan. Love orange alox. Sent you a pm.
Thanks, Captain. :)

I bought this Queen barlow to give to my nephew as his first knife, but he is still a little too young. I have an interview for a senior manager position with my company today, so I thought I would carry it for good luck.

That Queen is a looker and should work fine for the purpose you have in mind, but I'll wish you good luck for your interview, too. ;)

More of the knives on my rotation for this week include:
a Colt canoe

a Rough Rider work knife

a horn Joker

Thanks, Gary. I'm pretty sure they called it a "Pinch" because you can pinch the blade to open it. Easy to open, lock back, D2 steel. What's not to like? :D

I like the looks of that Canoe!

Thanks my friend, the trip went well (though I have just realised I broke a tooth at some point earlier :grumpy:). Great-looking Joker

Glad you've been working hard Thom  They asked after you in the cafe

Thanks, GT. I find it is best to attribute the voices in my head to "something." That way, I'm not crazy. :);)

Today, it is these two.

Tubular Tengu Tanto Tuesday! Jared Oeser Ti Tengu - and my Northwoods Ivory Broadway Jack!
Awesomesauce!

^ Fantastic mammoth! I've never seen such a nice dark green/blue color in mammoth.

I've got the Grand Portage in my pocket today.

Smashing Barlow Tom, your nephew is going to love that one day :) Hope it brings you luck at work

Thanks for the well wishes my friend, much appreciated! I think it worked, that may have been the best interview of my career  :) .

It will be a few years, but I will greatly enjoy teaching him about knives. It will be a Traditional education of course ;).

Thanks GT! I always like seeing pics of the Joker. Forgive me if I have asked this before and forgotten the answer: is the blade fairly thin stock on that knife?

I remember you talking about your daughter on another thread, or maybe on this one. Next time you come visit her we could have a couple of beers :thumbup:;)
Taramundis are great cutters, aren't they? It's very typical on some models to keep the bark on the boxwood handle to enhance the rustic look.
A close friend of mine have one, from his grandfather, just like this one but made by the father of "nowadays" Calvin, you can't believe the smoothness of that wood carried for 40 years.

Great stuff Tom, well done  No doubt we will be hearing more of the lad at some point :)

Seriously, you're teeth are made from toffee!

...

Asked where your son was did they? :p

Hope you had a good visit...a successful one even?

It's the same tooth I've been having trouble with, I was only at the dentist - and got the all-clear - on Thursday :(

Yeah, they asked why I hadn't taught you any manners! ;)

A pleasant day, but not a sniff of anything on the market :(
