What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Sweet Texas Sowbelly, Wilsonhome!

I know, right?!? There seems to be a surge in traditional knives, at least here, and this quiet corner feels a bit less quiet :).

Great pic of the Colt! Nice detail of the texturing in the handle
...
Carrying a "problem" knife today, the Esky. The "problem" is I find it too pretty to use, and I obsessively keep wiping it off on my shirt :).

Tom, there are so many more fabulous knives here these days that I'm seriously considering going back to "the old days" when I never read this thread! I don't seem to have enough time anymore to comment on all the knives that I think deserve recognition.
Thanks for the compliment on my Colt.
I can see why your Esky is "problematic" in the way you describe; great pair!

...
Thanks GT, not really I'm afraid, just keep an eye on it. I have quite a bit of old cell, and haven't really had too many problems  Looks like you've got your pockets full of goodies again :)
...
Thanks for the advice, Jack; I hope your problem-free celluloid situation continues for the foreseeable future! And thanks for the kind words about my carries; I try not to let pockets go unused. ;)

Carrying the same knife, but I have to post the pic so that I get the excuse to show off the new slip and lanyard. :D
The Ankermesser looks even better with it's new "clothes"!

Something "newish" today. A Camillus C4 from auction. Fortunately, it's in good but used condition, so I don't have any qualms about using the heck out of it.

Yowza, that's a great new scout, Buzzbait; congrats! I REALLY like the bail, the in-line Phillips, the saw, and the serrated blade!
Newly modified Camillus C4 camp knife. The scalloped sheepsfoot just was not working for me. It is now a decidedly unscalloped sheepsfoot.

...
Oops, I guess I spoke too soon! You're obviously not as enamored with the serrated blade as I was! :D

Thanks! Caught the light just right I guess. Boker calls is smooth green bone, but mine has more of a blue hue to it.
Thanks for the extra info, B&W; another nice pic today.

Daily; frequently more than once. When I used to fly all the time I put the toothpick in my shirt pocket and the knife in my checked baggage. An indispensable tool for me. :)

Today's carry.

Wow, daily use of the SAK toothpick is impressive, Dean! Nice dark duo today; I recognize Raggy, but does the Case have a name?

It's my relatively new Otter-Messer of Solingen, and it's really growing on me.
...
Thanks for the follow-up, donn; very attractive version of the pattern!

Thanks, 5KQs and Jack.
...
The handles on the Colonial will be wood, for sure. Probably walnut from the remains of my brother's whittling wood that he got from Gibson Guitar in the70s.
I also have some special wood from the sound bits of the recently replaced rotten floor joists in Capel Cerrig in Remsen. Fir or tamarack, I don't know. Also I have a block of maple that I got from the estate sale of a 90+-yr-old gentleman whose almost last act was to take down the tree, mill it, paint the end-grain and sticker it, refusing all help from anyone.

Speaking of handles, I have a Hibbard Spencer and Bartlett sleeveboard with cel somewhat similar to Jack's Morton.

Sounds like you've got some nice wood to use on the Colonial; looking forward to seeing it when it's finished, SP!
Speaking of looking forward to seeing a knife, that cell HS&B has TOTALLY fascinating covers; I could look at that one all day!!:thumbup:

These again today and almost every day

...
Harry
Great pair, Harry! They say it's hard to improve on perfection, so it's understandable that those two are an almost-daily double.

#92 Talon this sunny day.

Terrific take on your Talon, Dan; both blade and handle look fantastic!

...
Carrying this old Boker today, a very kind present from Paul H, one of my cherished knives :) Also my Abbeydale Jack

Superb pairing, Jack!

Beat the heat carry

Pete
Pete's perfect Peanut pops up - phenomenal!

Vive La France
Well-put, Rachel.

...
Today, I carried way more knives than I usually do. More pockets means more knives. :)

Flawless Friday foursome, Dean! The New Day really grabbed my attention today!

Jim
Exemplary pair, Jim!

Well, on a day of multiple knives being toted by some, I also had 2 pockets full.:D

Captivating couple of cutters, Ron; both good honest tools! I really enjoy seeing those rich reddish Northfield Barlows that you and Harry often carry!

Thank you BARRETT, my best friend JC and I met when we were 12 yrs old as well, a 42 yr old friendship. We live in the same town and see each other at least every other day. We were best friends first and became step brothers when our folks married:cool:
...
Thank you Dean, the ancient seemed like a somewhat fitting tribute to a lifelong friendship. I asked my Dad today how old they were when they met and he said they were 12 yrs old!!! A 71 yr old friendship...amazing:thumbup:
Pretty amazing friendship stories, Paul, about you and your brother and about your dad and his friend! My sympathies to all of you grieving the loss of your dad's faithful friend.

When I picked out this old Schrade Cut Co Barlow to pocket this morning, the following thought went through my mind, I wondered just how many times and by how many people this Barlow has been pocketed in its life? :D
