First post here, hello all!

Great first post, terrific knife and welcome to the porch!

Was feeling a little blue so I popped some sunshine in my pocket this afternoon

- Paul

Paul, hope the bit of sunshine perked you up. I know it certainly put a smile on my face!

Incredible picture Gev!

TC Lick Creek today. I really didn't expect to like this knife so much but it's constantly fighting with my 25s and 26s for pocket time.

R8shell, I love the scrimshaw on the white bone, I think it looks great, what are you using to mark it a scribe? I like doin' vines I may have to pick up a smooth bone RR and try my luck.

Jack, I love that square head, pearl shadow jack, the pearl is on fire, it's iridescent. :)

After takin' picks for another thread I decided to throw this one in my pocket today, the bone is worried so smooth t's like glass and with my shoulder surgery less than 2 weeks away I'm rubbin' the heck outta this bone. I was so glad I rescued this one instead of sellin' it at the flea markets or throwin' it back in the toolbox I found it in covers in paint and frozen closed. Turns out it was a diamond in the rough and turned out to be a beautiful example of the German cutlers art nearly a hundred years ago. Grief & Schmidt Barehead Jack wrapped in smooth bone covers.

The box I throw my traditional knives in at the end of the day with whatever is in my pocket that didn't have a place to go yet.

Cool pic Ken

Thanks a lot Ted, I've had that one a while, but it was a very lucky find :)

That is a lovely old knife, great clean-up work. Good luck with the shoulder surgery  Love the patch! :D

Really hard to catch the fire in a nice pearl handle...

Carrying my newly acquired Joseph Feist/Solingen repousse today - William Tell/Lion of Lucerne carvings. Cute little knife, and took an easy, good edge.

These two beauties needed a carry!

Thanks, Ken! Great shot yourself...pun intended

Jack

Thank you my friend:D:thumbup::D

Nice knives today folks!
3 1/2" Menefee Half Congess for me today.

What started the day new and shiny needed to be introduced to an unexpected fruit basket...sorta bitter sweet making the user transition.

It a little rainy around here today but, it has not dampened my spirit :D. Carrying one of my favorites a Bulldog Brand/GEC Made #25:

This Boker 494 has been my daily carry for nearly the past year. Apart from a dreaded week where I thought she was gone for good it has sat in my pocket. In the machine shop, the woods and 11 000 mile road trip with my best friend, my wife. I modified it with an easy open notch. Here she will sit for much longer methinks.

Your Böker Barlow with the EO notch looks grand, jmarston!

...
My carries for today are a T.C. Barlow and a Heinr. Boker & Co.

Have a good one!

Ken K.
Exceptional pair, Ken; that Böker looks very svelte!

Excellent, Ernie!

Carrying this little guy today...

That bone with the bar shield and tip bolsters is an unbeatable combination, Glenn!

Thanks for the TC comments, Gary! You must have a TC thesaurus.

That re-handled 2014 Forum knife knocks my socks off every time I see it.:thumbup:
"TC thesaurus" is an interesting concept! ;) Thanks for the praise for that Forum knife, Dean; I recall that you have a lovely Barlow (Schrade?) with very similar color and jigging.

Yes GT, it is a very purple knife!

- Paul
Thanks for the confirmation, Paul; quite a striking knife!

...
Gary, this one is a spear point. Loving the rehandled Forum knife. It's always a treat to see that one.
Thanks for setting me right on the blade shape, Bob, and for the kind words about that Forum knife.

Thanks, GT! The jigging on that BF knife is something special. I got caught up in the Laguioles thread the other night. Such a pretty pattern, and yours is no exception!

Case calls that handle material "Green Curly Maple". It photographs a little better than it looks in person. When I first saw them online, I wanted to buy every pattern they put it on. Now that I have the medium stockman in hand, I may settle for the Peanut and call it a day. It's still pretty, don't get me wrong. It just doesn't have quite the "POP" in person.
Shawn, thanks for the info about the covers on your Case stockman; too bad it didn't quite live up to your expectations. Thanks also for the compliments about 2 of my knives. That Laguiole is just an inexpensive knock-off, but it's walk&talk is very pleasant, among the best of any of my knives.

Thanks GT! It is a "black box" Winchester, and my first one too. I'm really enjoying it so far. Carried it all weekend.
...
It's definitely distinctive and desirable, Elgin!

Markesharp's Fishbarlow and SAK farmer today.

Wow, Steve, that Fishbarlow is really developing some serious character!

...
I always enjoy seeing that one, GT. It has such interesting jigged bone covers! (Was the original stag subpar, or did you just want something different?)

I've been carrying this #77 Yankee Jack for the last couple days. Really love this knife, although I haven't carried it enough. Also really looking forward to the upcoming #77 Barlows!

Thanks, Barrett. That knife came to me already modified in a box of assorted knives Markesharp sent me "out of the blue". I don't know why he did the modification or where he got the new covers. YOUR 77 with 2 blades including a spearpoint main is very handsome!

Farmer on a football?? Sweet knife!

...
Thanks for all the compliments on my recent carries GT :) That is a great-looking Canoe, Stan Shaw put together some of the knives in that range. Well done Cchu
...
I'm carrying these two today :)

Thanks, Jack; interesting info about the I*XL canoe. I always think that I know what MY 3 favorite Jack Black knives are (Abbeydale stag, glowing oxhorn, and feathered buffalo horn), but then you post ones like your scratted Ancient that certainly have tremendous appeal!:thumbup:

I'm carrying No. 10 today. I wish I knew what the 10 stood for - maybe a street address?

I enjoy seeing your Ulster Barlow again, Dean! The slip and coin are cool, too. Maybe this knife is marked somewhat like the notorious EARL, and the "10" is actually "IO" for Irving Oakley. ;)

Gev, you have to start taking better care of your knives!

One knife, or two? Do you do it all with mirrors??

More of this week's carry for me:
"SAK of the week" is a red celidor Classic

"non-SAK bailed knife of the week" is my very first knife from about 1960, a Colonial Field-Master
XLwiAXE.jpg

"Big knife of the week" is a Sabre Granddaddy Barlow that still needs some restoration

"Alox of the week" is a Vic Electrician (thanks, gregc)

Exceptional images Ken, Scott, and Macchina.

It's a gritty day in the field today with my 14 and Peanut. This heat is just offensive.

As always very nice everyone!

Thanks for the comment Gary.

Great knife btmccutcheon. Terrific pair GuestWho101 and pairs swaybacksteve.
