First post here, hello all!
Jack, I love that square head, pearl shadow jack, the pearl is on fire, it's iridescent.
After takin' picks for another thread I decided to throw this one in my pocket today, the bone is worried so smooth t's like glass and with my shoulder surgery less than 2 weeks away I'm rubbin' the heck outta this bone. I was so glad I rescued this one instead of sellin' it at the flea markets or throwin' it back in the toolbox I found it in covers in paint and frozen closed. Turns out it was a diamond in the rough and turned out to be a beautiful example of the German cutlers art nearly a hundred years ago. Grief & Schmidt Barehead Jack wrapped in smooth bone covers.

Carrying my newly acquired Joseph Feist/Solingen repousse today - William Tell/Lion of Lucerne carvings. Cute little knife, and took an easy, good edge.

A little hot on the sharpening wheel 😛
Your Böker Barlow with the EO notch looks grand, jmarston! :thumbup:This Boker 494 has been my daily carry for nearly the past year. Apart from a dreaded week where I thought she was gone for good it has sat in my pocket. In the machine shop, the woods and 11 000 mile road trip with my best friend, my wife. I modified it with an easy open notch. Here she will sit for much longer methinks.

Exceptional pair, Ken; that Böker looks very svelte!...
My carries for today are a T.C. Barlow and a Heinr. Boker & Co.

Have a good one!
Ken K.
Excellent, Ernie!
That bone with the bar shield and tip bolsters is an unbeatable combination, Glenn!
"TC thesaurus" is an interesting concept! Thanks for the TC comments, Gary! You must have a TC thesaurus.
That re-handled 2014 Forum knife knocks my socks off every time I see it.:thumbup:
Thanks for the confirmation, Paul; quite a striking knife!
Thanks for setting me right on the blade shape, Bob, and for the kind words about that Forum knife....
Gary, this one is a spear point. Loving the rehandled Forum knife. It's always a treat to see that one.
Shawn, thanks for the info about the covers on your Case stockman; too bad it didn't quite live up to your expectations. Thanks also for the compliments about 2 of my knives. That Laguiole is just an inexpensive knock-off, but it's walk&talk is very pleasant, among the best of any of my knives. Thanks, GT! The jigging on that BF knife is something special. I got caught up in the Laguioles thread the other night. Such a pretty pattern, and yours is no exception!
Case calls that handle material "Green Curly Maple". It photographs a little better than it looks in person. When I first saw them online, I wanted to buy every pattern they put it on. Now that I have the medium stockman in hand, I may settle for the Peanut and call it a day. It's still pretty, don't get me wrong. It just doesn't have quite the "POP" in person.
It's definitely distinctive and desirable, Elgin! :thumbup:Thanks GT! It is a "black box" Winchester, and my first one too. I'm really enjoying it so far. Carried it all weekend.
...
Wow, Steve, that Fishbarlow is really developing some serious character!
Thanks, Barrett. That knife came to me already modified in a box of assorted knives Markesharp sent me "out of the blue". I don't know why he did the modification or where he got the new covers. YOUR 77 with 2 blades including a spearpoint main is very handsome!...
I always enjoy seeing that one, GT. It has such interesting jigged bone covers! (Was the original stag subpar, or did you just want something different?)
I've been carrying this #77 Yankee Jack for the last couple days. Really love this knife, although I haven't carried it enough. Also really looking forward to the upcoming #77 Barlows!

Farmer on a football?? Sweet knife!
Thanks, Jack; interesting info about the I*XL canoe. I always think that I know what MY 3 favorite Jack Black knives are (Abbeydale stag, glowing oxhorn, and feathered buffalo horn), but then you post ones like your scratted Ancient that certainly have tremendous appeal!
I enjoy seeing your Ulster Barlow again, Dean!
Gev, you have to start taking better care of your knives!
One knife, or two? Do you do it all with mirrors??
LOL!!Your Böker Barlow with the EO notch looks grand, jmarston! [emoji106]

"TC thesaurus" is an interesting concept! Thanks for the praise for that Forum knife, Dean; I recall that you have a lovely Barlow (Schrade?) with very similar color and jigging.
Thanks for the confirmation, Paul; quite a striking knife!

I enjoy seeing your Ulster Barlow again, Dean! The slip and coin are cool, too. Maybe this knife is marked somewhat like the notorious EARL, and the "10" is actually "IO" for Irving Oakley.
Gev, you have to start taking better care of your knives!
One knife, or two? Do you do it all with mirrors??
