• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Here is a relative of your Kabar

Sweet! I bet mine looked like that in its youth. :) Are the covers bone on yours? If so, that's a nice upgrade, though I do appreciate the ruggedness of Delrin when digging through boxes at flea markets, they are rarely cracked.

They are Delrin. I just found this on the 'bay recently. NOS. Love it what a great length and width. Really enjoy carrying it.

Thanks Will, and a very best to you and your all!

It's busy here with family and friends and I'm having a great time!!

Have a great New Year!!

Ken K.

Have a great time at the coast, Jack.

THanks r8shell :)

Thanks, Jack!

That Tidioute 66 looks like a really good carry, Jack. Have a good trip!

Thanks Dean, I haven't carried it much this year, but the #66 is one of my favourite GECs :)

Great pic of your Scout Buzz

I love the look of that Baxter Ken :)

I'm taking these three off to the coast with me, all the best everyone :)

It's 1.30 am here so time to retire.

But this is what I will be carrying in the morning. With all the eating & drinking of the past days I confess to feeling a bit out of sorts or what people in the last century used to term 'liverish':barf: I need something green so I'll be reaching for this Kryptonite Owl on rising  It actually has some pearl swirls in it too and I find its colour a weird tonic :D

The Krytonite should do the trick, Will! That's a great looking knife. A short fast always help me back to equilibrium

That wallstreet is a home run! The pair is stunning and great photo:thumbup:

.
That is a great pairing Love the Wall Street. I have one with a spear. It's my favorite so far.

Beautiful, Dee. It looks like they were made to be twins!

Thanks for the compliments, guys! Gev, it certainly puts one on the scoreboard  & I can see why it's a favorite , Alan. Dean, that may be because of the same parents (GEC) ;).

I love that checkered bone! I don't think I've seen one with that before on the gunstock.
.

Thanks you very much Rookie82 .
I think it is a fairly new run of Gunstocks . I believe the box had a Build Day of sometime in September . I think I saw it first in the last Case flyer that I got .
They ran a series of 5 or 6 different patterns with this Checkered Bone. Their pictures showed them to be much darker though .

Edit added : The actual color of the knife is closer to the first picture . I can't explain the big color difference . It was outside lighting with No Sun involved.

Thanks Gevo, couldn't help thinking of GT as I grabbed the protractor. ...
Alan, I certainly noticed and appreciated the protractor, but feared that I might seem too geeky if I commented on it!

'Tis the Season

Somehow I almost missed this cool couple of 77 Barlows with complementary colors for Christmas.

Thank you for all the compliments, Gary! Have a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year.
...
Gary, thank you for the compliments and wishes for Happy Holidays to you and yours! :)
Thank you, my friend! i hope your Christmas was wonderful for you and your family. Happy New Year as well:D:thumbup:
Dean and Ron and Gev, thanks for the holiday sentiments. I hope you all had a Happy Christmas, and I wish each of you all the best for 2017 and beyond!

...
Thanks GT, the bread tokens were given to the poor so that they might exchange one for a loaf of bread
...
Thanks for the interesting history lesson, Jack.

I like your knife and photo, Captain!

Todays carry : Rogers Jigged Walnut Bone Mini Trapper
...
Case Chestnut Checkered Bone Gunstock...

Harry
Congrats on a couple of fine knives, Harry! The Rogers walnut mini trapper looks as attractive as your others in that series, and I'm always happy to see checkered bone handles on a knife! (I wasn't even aware that Case did checkered bone until I fairly recently saw a Peanut that Shawn posted with that style covers.)

My ever present Buck Cadet and a yeller Case pen that my family gave me for Christmas.

Clay
Congrats on the Case penknife, Clay! I may get evicted from a certain cult for saying it, but I think I like Case's pen better than a Peanut! (The Peanut seems to have far more handle choices than the pen, though.)

Case scout

SSZkQk5h.jpg
Yeah. It's true love. I even bought a backup, in case something happens to this one.
Wow, Buzz, is it that easy to find those Case scouts, or should you be admired for the depth of your love and dedication?

...
Thank you, Gary! Yes & Yes..... ;) :)

Today's carry.

Pretty pair, Dee!
With regard to your having multiple Wisemans, my daughter in Madrid says that Kings' Day on January 6 is a bigger holiday there than Christmas on December 25. Something to keep in mind ... ;)

That's an ancient and awesome pair, Ken!

I'm taking these three off to the coast with me, all the best everyone :)

Have a safe and pleasurable trip, Jack!
Your phrase above had me humming "American Pie" with modified lyrics:
The three knives I admired most... took the last train for the coast.:D

Some of the knives I'm carrying for this last week of the year appear here.
This week's stockman is a 4" Taylor-Schrade 61OT Slim Premium Stock Knife:
fTjaumI.jpg

This week's "big" knife isn't really that big, except in my mind it's a monstrously nice knife, a grail - a GEC 85 with buffalo covers, EO notch, and secondary modified to a coping blade (thanks, Paul):

This week's "miscellaneous" knife is a Rough Rider Barlow:

This week's Alox is a Cadet II (thanks, Ken):

Ken, I just had to chime in on the Baxter. Great bone, love that it's a single and those rat tail bolsters are the best. A wonderful Sheffield example! Thanks for the additional pics.

Been carrying this most days for the last week or so. Don't see any need to change just yet. :D
