What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks for the pick me up Gary. There is a vast difference between flash and natural light, although I can control the flash day or night, sun or overcast.
2bbc078d10be89e3ee69aab27c9bbec1.jpg
Fantastic stag, Alan; I especially like that toasty 25! "Control the flash" sounds like a good New Year's resolution for me. Not sure it's feasible with my little point&shoot camera; still think my best bet for indoor knife photos is some kind of "lightbox".

Thanks 5kQ's and if I may add that Rough Rider you have is absolutely stunning !
...
Thanks, TheFactor. :) (I actually had at least 3 Rough Riders in that post; which one stunned you??)

FBC, that's a sight for sore eyes! For some reason, I don't much like carrying trappers, but I sure like looking at them.

Thanks GT, they certainly proved useful :) Nice line-up my friend
...
Thanks, Jack. Isn't there a Psalm in the Bible about knives that go down to the sea in ships? ;)

...
For some reason, I was inspired to carry two Ebony knives today.

Ushering out 2016 in style, Dean!!

A couple of feet today, one old, one new.

0mXhKZs.jpg
That is a notable pair, mitch!! (You should post them in the Notable Pairs thread.) The I*XL sure grabbed my attention.

Those are a couple of wonderful pairs to close out 2016, Dee!! You're a wise man!

Thanks, Alan, I think I'm in love! ;) Here's the pile side . . . buttered toast anyone?

Regards for New Year to all who dwell here,

Will
Three fine-looking knives, Will! What models are the top and bottom ones?

It'll be this one again today, but that may change, because USPS tracking says there's a Peach Seed TC going to be in my mailbox today.
That looked good while it lasted, Ironbut! The green bone always reminds me of an old Remington folder that I can't quite recall details for!

It's a special occasion, XL carry for me today/tonight. Thanks everybody for teaching me many things I never knew about knives this year.
...
Superb saw shield, tdaddy!

I'll carry these two today.

But, I think I'll need some flash to ring in the New Year!
a9dd12baeda8a5ad7bba8bfde469c39b.jpg
High-class trial, Alan, and that teardrop is dripping with flash AND class!

I've heard that tomato soup is good for what ails someone, Bob; seeing your red soup TC is making me feel better!

Today I'm carrying this. My first Northwoods.

Happy New Knife, John; the stag on your Northwoods is outstanding!

I'm still busy and not posting much but do manage to pop in once and a while.

These are my two for today. A Forum Barlow and a Vic Pioneer Apprentice.

oZ7V4Val.jpg

Have a great New Year! Stay Safe!

Ken K.
Ken, I hope it's "this is fun" busy and not "this is gonna kill me" busy! Terrific twosome there; that Forum Barlow is very distinctive, and I like Vic's sheepsfoot (that's the second blade on the Pioneer Apprentics, right?).

Many beautiful knives posted. I really enjoy the eye candy. You guys and gals get me in trouble because they just add to my "must find and buy" list. I would love to post some pics also but I'm technoligically challenged as well as my photographic skills leave much to be desired.
...
Rick
Rick, just give it a try and keep trying. I've found that nobody makes fun of you here if you're photos stink (first hand experience!), and you eventually learn stuff that allows you to take better pics. Here's the first pic I posted here, of the first knife I had as a kid:

Here's the latest pic of that same knife, about 2.5 years later. I think you'll agree I'm getting better at it.

The mail person just delivered this one! (Like we really need another pic of a peach seed Barlow:))

Congrats on the peachseed jigged TC, Ironbut! Way to end the year with a bang!

Half Congress today. I hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year's!

IMG_20161231_101746.jpg
That's a model that I have to try out! Yours is very appealing, Daniel!

Well this will destroy my reputation but...no Buck 303 today. Still running a med stockman though!

Clay
I don't think it tarnishes your rep at all, Clay, and I think it really enhances your daughter's reputation! She picked such a dreamy knife for you!!

A lot of good looking knives posted today :)

For me, it's the EDC Ohta whittler and a couple others to cover the bases (A.G. Russell peanut in Mammoth, ADV Pocket Butcher in Birch)

~Chip
Including yours, Chip! That's a jaw-dropping trio!

Couple of charismatic crimson cutters, JSCHENK!! (And black Chuck Taylor's too? You're stylin', sir!)

...
I'm ending the year by carrying my Knife of 2016 - a Blood Red Jig Bone TC from 2014. This one ended up in my pocket the most this year.

...
Happy New Year and may your Traditional dreams for 2017 come true!
Very fitting knife choice, Dean! Thanks for the New Year wishes, and same to you!
(And thanks for the reminder; I still need to post my Knife of 2016.)

I'd say 2016 has been a great year for you, cutlery-wise!!

...
I'll have a quartet with me tonight for 2017s big premier. If I'm having stemware in my hands, I have to make an effort to have some classy knives around! Case Peanut, GEC 14 TC in Black Cherry, Case Teardrop in Ebony, and GEC 83 in Ebony.

6pXN97v.jpg

Happy (and safe) New Year, everyone!
Same to you, Shawn! Looks like you're kicking the year off in style for sure with that high-quality quartet!

It's the week-end, so I'm allowed to abandon my rotation schedule for a couple of days. Today and tomorrow I'm carrying the knives I ordered on Black Friday. In mid-December, my wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday and/or Christmas (both in December), and I suggested she give me some of the knives for my birthday, some for Christmas, and maybe make a pot of chili sometime. I'll show my birthday knives today.
My first dock-douk:

A Rough Rider marlin spike:

A sweet little Rough Rider whittler that someone here recommended (I'm embarrassed to say I don't remember who; if you have one, and like it, please let me know, and I'll thank you!):

And a Spanish knife that my daughter gave me:

Thanks Gary. It just so happens that I had a bowl of tomato soup and a grilled cheese sandwich for lunch today. No lie. :D

Thanks for all the kind comments Gary. I usually take my photos with either a bounce flash or near a window and try to minimize the reflections as much as possible. I carried that Douk-Douk for years. It's the best knife pound for pound or I should saw dollar for dollar.

I believe it was the first one but I just tried hunting your post down lol and couldn't find it but I'm still searching . I'm not working with a full deck right now as I'm in the middle of fighting a bad cold flew that was gifted to me a few days ago . Don't think I've slept for more then 1 hour last night but it hasn't kept me away from my favorite threads [emoji846]

GT It's New Year here already and unlike most days I'm not having a drink...kind of refrain when everybody else is drinking to a theme :barf: Therefore I can answer your question with a deal of clarity-for once..;) Top is a Hoffritz Serp Pen, from the 50s I suspect, Sabre ground and sunk-joints, I'd like to get a Custom version done someday but who can manage it?:confused: Glenn re-handled it for me but unfortunately, it has subsequently developed a big crack out of the blue round the centre pin. The bottom knife is a 66 Slim in Red Sawn Bone that I gave to Žan in Slovenia just before Christmas. The 66 Slim is a very nice no rub single spring 2 blade which is the sort I favour over Jacks.

All the best for 17!

Will

New Year's Day Carry will be this flat bolstered 73 from 09 (that's 8 years ago already:eek: ) The bone matches the facet sided bolsters, GEC did not, I think, do any other runs with this feature. The bone is somewhat lighter than this pic suggests.

IMG_1336.jpg

Sorry no photos, but I'm carrying my forum knife, and my Krein regrind of a Queen h49. The regrind cuts like no ones business, I almost don't want to use it. Oh it's D2 steel as well:D
Thanks, Neal

Nice knives and pictures everyone:cool:

Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR Everyone:thumbup:

An old circa 1920-1940 CASE EZ open Jack to end the year with.

Very nice. They also make a brown bone (though they might have called it Amber) w' the flat & faceted bolsters. Why they have yet to make more w' those bolsters is beyond me as I think they're the nicest of all 73s. The single blade ones w' those bolsters are super thin.

That's an awesome 73. I love the jigging!

That's a couple of great knives, Dee. What is the closed length on the Wiseman Barlow?

More Wiseman beauty!!:) Great choices, Dee.

Thank you, Dean! It's 3-7/8" closed.

And quite the knife it was . It aged gracefully.

Any ideas what the 2017 favorite will be :)?

Birthday knives today. Chili tomorrow? Sounds good, count me in. :)

Strong finish for 2016.

Happy New Year to you & yours as well!!!

Good grief what an amazing bunch of knives today! This will be my final carry for 2016, my hat is off to you Mark:thumbup:
