What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Going to go salvage some barn wood from a friend's farm, so this is what I'm totin' today :) Along with some crowbars. :)

These 2 today as I continue to clean up after an Oklahoma ice storm we had a couple weeks ago.
The old timer 5OT I got as a kid in the early 90's and the mighty peanut my kids got me for Christmas.

Böker Germany do some decent carbon knives, :thumbup:I like the Small Stockman. Had exactly the same but gave it away (to somebody who never even bothered to thank me...) I have a Smooth Yellow Bone and Stag version, both get used from time to time.

Wow! What a difference Jack. I read the same thing R8shell did. Funny how the mind plays tricks on us. Glad you're back on line my friend and thanks for the photos.

Thanks a lot Alan

Jack, that pic does look like it was taken at the Titanic, cool effect.

Thank you kindly Kris :) It WAS taken inside a hull - an 18th century scythe-grinding hull! :D It was very dark and gloomy in there, and I think I just got lucky :)

Grand assortment though Gev  All very likeable.

Definitely

Harry--thanks for posting the other oldies but goodies! Nice knives

I am very sorry if my wording is mis-leading . I just bought them yesterday . I have around 30 Barlows but I now have my first Schrade barlow . This is the first Henckles for me . Thank you very much for the compliment though my friend. My other Oldies that GT wanted me to post still need to be dressed up before I will post them .

Thanks, the only other Boker made knife I have is a Henkels branded congress pattern. I am impressed with them, they are well made knives. The small stockman is slightly smaller than the Case medium stockman that I have. I prefer the rounded bolsters on the Boker, long pull on the main blade, and also the blade profile on the sheepfoot blade.

Agreed, the low riding Sheepfoot is always a good thing in my view.

Here's my Yellow Bone version with a cv CASE in Bonestag. My all time favourite Small Stockman is still the Queen Cutlery No.26 even though it is square bolstered. The Small Stockman is an area where GEC is found wanting, I reckon.

Gotcha! Sorry, the confusion was mine--nice knives all the same! Anthony

Thanks Gary.
Thanks Gary!:)
Thank you, gentlemen, for regularly posting such admirable knives!!

...
GT - I enjoy the Taramundi for what it is my friend. ;). That paticular one is a little stiff so I tried braking it in yesterday.
...
Thanks for your feedback on that Taramundi, Brett.

I haven't been able to get online for a few days, just trying to catch up now! Hope everyone is having a great Sunday  Got these two with me today :)

...
Welcome back, Jack! I hope your internet woes will soon be resolved. 2 great knives, but I especially enjoy seeing the magnificent spearpoint deployed on your Abbeydale jack!:thumbup:

...
Today I have this wharncliffe trapper, built by the extremely talented, Tom Overeynder. The "Trapper" themed engraving was done in a Bulino style, by Brian Hochstrat. Brian is one of the top engravers in the world, and getting better all the time. Blades are perfectly ground, CPM D2, with a very nice finish. 18k pins and shield. The old bone is from Schrade, circa 1920's.

Have a great Sunday!
The engraving on that one always takes my breath away, Kris!:thumbup::thumbup:

That's a triumphant triumvirate, Gev! :thumbup::thumbup:

Very nice Gev, neat little Pearl, grand ol Stockman and a SAK for all the little odd day to day projects:thumbup:

When I read you quote, Bobby Darrin came to mind:o;)
I had the same thought, Paul; must be another case of warped minds thinking alike, or whatever the saying is! :D:rolleyes:

Once a week year round with two additional per week in January and February. I also do a lot of walking - that is almost daily.
Thanks for the info, Dean. You must be someone who walks a lot, since you make a distinction between hiking and walking! ;) I'm surprised you triple your hiking in January/February; those are the months I probably walk the least!

That's a splendid spearpoint on your Grohmann, John! Much better than the clip on a Buck 110, IMHO.

Congrats on your Schrade Barlow and first Heckles, Harry!
No hurry on those 2 longtime companions of yours; I'm one of the world's "slowest" knife photographers (trying to find time and good light for a photo, taking enough shots that I'm likely to have at least a couple of "keepers", editing the original photos to be more presentable, saving the processed pics to my files, and finally shipping them to imgur), so far be it from me to try to rush other folks' knife pics! :D

Speaking of slow photography, here's a Buck 303 that arrived last Monday and I finally got some pics today; I do much better with pics on a sunny day, but this was our 8th consecutive 0% sunshine day, so I tried lighting with a new reading lamp my wife set up recently. I won the 303 as "2nd runner-up" in a recent Emspop GAW. If I'm reading the tang stamp and Buck chart correctly, it's a 1994 model. It also has a flat blade grind instead of the saber grind I though was characteristic of Buck's 300-series. Even though it's not officially on my rotation schedule yet, I've been carrying it all week. Thanks, Clay.
