I have that same green micarta 42. It's definitely camera shy. Very hard to capture the green goodness. In most of my pictures, it looks almost black.

Thanks Buzz, glad someone else has a 42 that doesn't appreciate the limelight. I deleted a couple dozen photos this morning before I finally gave up and posted that one. It definitely looks green in person anyway .

Thanks for the additional info on the ruler knife Jack.

There is a name and a date that is marked on one of the sides of the scales. The date is 1896 and the name seems to be Fred Gee.

Is it possible that the knife can be from that age?
