What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Ron
Cranberry perfection. Oh...what a fine piece

Appreciate that Gev :)

Such vibrant bone on that one, Ron!

Thanks Gary :)

Gorgeous knife Ron.

Some ALOX and a custom today.

Tom - Thanks for the compliment! :) That's a terrific pair your Totin today!

No doubt that one is a well loved treasure, Ron! The bone, in particular, is so well done.

Today's "tote."

Thanks Dean, it's a favorite! :) Today's "tote" makes for an interesting pair! How are you liking the Whip. I got a Rust Red Jigged Whip but I haven't carried it yet.

The Rough Rider I posted was listed as a Half Whittler.
I think of it as a nice Pen knife.
I'm not sure it's still available.
I'll try and get the number for you.

You all have been knocking it out of the park lately. I can't keep up with all the great knives being shared. I've been carrying the same old boring GEC coyote for days, but I just got this one in and have had it in my pocket all day. I know next to nothing about it, but the price was right. It's a custom by G A Walker. I think it's an older knife. I don't usually go for pimped out knives with engraving and file work, but I have to admit, it's a nice knife. I googled the name, and got a lot of George Walker, but I'm not sure he's the same maker, that one does a lot with damascus.

Afraid I can't help with info on the maker, Glen. Whichever George Walker made it, it sure looks like a nice knife. I like the embellishments on that one. That's some nice looking stag too.

An instant classic pairing. All bases covered with style and utility :D The 13 is so classy in oatmeal

Thanks, Gev. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I like it.

Thanks, Ron. It's a great design. Thin, sharp, fun to carry and use.

I just looked at every R
Rough Rider on SMKW. There isn't anything even close to mine.

Closet thing (out of stock) is RR1704 Pen knife

Not EVEN close. Sorry.

Found RR531 at another site.
It's the same frame, bone.
Has a clip main instead of spear.

I too have never seen a sharpener the likes of that one. Great pruner.

Thanks Gevo , Gt , and Jack Black for your comments on the old knife grinder that I showed yesterday and I will re-post a picture below . They were patented in about 1925 and there were a few vintages of them made .It is not the only one that I have seen but I have been looking for more in the shops just so I could get a couple more . I do not have any replacement stones when these wear out . I do not know what angle of grind that the stones are ground down to now nor do I know what they wear when new . There are some available if you do a search for DAZEY SHARPIT . I had used this to sharpen our knives for probably 20 years until about 3 years ago . It really is the Bees Knees for sharpening a HAWKBILL PRUNER .

Carry of the day is my Old Red Saw Cut Bone 77 Barlow shown below .

Thanks for "going the extra mile", Joe!
I expected you might be able to look at the tang of your knife and either see the model number or tell me, "Looks like the number is worn off." I didn't expect you to check through 400 RRs (or whatever it is) at SMKW!!

I agree with you that Rough Rider "half whittlers" are pretty nice little pen knives. I actually have the RR531 you found, and it's a splendid knife (except the dye on the bone covers on mine don't match). When I saw yours, I thought it looked like another great little knife, but with a spear main instead of a clip.

I looked at that model RR1704 pen knife you identified, too. I'd never seen that one before, but I want to get one when if they become available again! The jigged buffalo horn and copper bolsters look like a great combination to me!
