Northfield 81 stockman. There are a lot of beautiful knives in this forum. Thanks to all of you for fueling my addiction.

Very nice 81, great knife:thumbup:

Nice knives all!

Thanks for the comments Dean and Gary.

I went with more colour today.

Have a great day!

Love this knife. Charlie, would a long pull clip with same yellow covers ever be on the cards??!! I reckon it'd be a hit.

Some ALOX and a custom today.

That blue Alox Farmer is electric, Tom!

A pair of beauteous Barlows, Dee! Elder skill and modern mastery on display.
...
Thanks, Gary. I wasn't sure when I ordered the Solo that I would like it, but it will grow on you (it's a Vic Soldier without the tools and how often do we use those?).

I had to modify my comment on Dee's Barlows (which I was composing when you posted). My original one was almost identical to yours - we need another "B" word that means two!

As always, your Sodbuster catches my eye.

Today's "tote."

I'm enjoying your recent pairs that feature Alox, Dean. Did you remove the keyring attachment from your red Cadet? That #13 sure looks long and lean!
I'll see if I can find something involving "binary" to use for "two". ;)

Delightful sodbuster jr GT!

GT The beast has met its match in your magnificent Case.

Thanks for the SBJr comments, Paul & Tom. :)

Keeping with the whittler theme, I've got my 1973 Case 6383 in my pocket today:

I haven't yet tuned it up for whittling, but hope to do so soon and then put it to work.
Handsome whittler, Greg!

... I just got this one in and have had it in my pocket all day. I know next to nothing about it, but the price was right. It's a custom by G A Walker. I think it's an older knife. I don't usually go for pimped out knives with engraving and file work, but I have to admit, it's a nice knife....

Congrats on picking up that knockout knife, Glenn! I wouldn't want ALL of my knives to be that fancy, but having a few fancy ones seems desirable. (You say "pimped out", but my PR people suggest "lavish", "opulent", "ornate", "ravishing". ;))

...
I carried these two yesterday.

And these two today.

Have a good one!

Ken K.
As usual, your daily pairs are unique and interesting, Ken!

Wow, that's a stellar Böker stockman, P&G!!

My kitchen knives this week were a Black Cat and an Opinel garden knife, both with attractive spearpoint blades.

Stan - Welcome to the Porch! Your 53 Cattle Rancher pretty much sums up what we are all about! It is a wonderful knife.

Today, I have these two Northfield Jacks with me! Both of them are wearing appropriate attire for the day. All three of the items in this photo have direct ties to the Porch! Thanks Brett, Bob and Stephen! :D

Beautiful knives all!

In retrospect if I knew it was st patricks day I would have pocketed my green 81, but I've got a pair of square jaws with me.

Great knives all!

Thanks for the comments MJ71 and Gary.

Very nice Lick Creek Paul.

In the spirit of the day I'm carrying a Jowika, Republic of Ireland, and a green Cadet. Thanks Primble.

I don't think I've ever seen a knife like that one on the left. That must be a sliding lock I assume?

Jack
I am loving your carries as usual and really am struck by the sheath of the scout!

Thanks my friend :) I was glad I bought the sheath when I did, as the maker shut up shop not long after :(

Sounds like tasty pie, Jack! I tend to think fruit when I hear "pie", but I actually like meat/vegetable pies better. When I was a college student, I was one of the few fans of shepherd's pie at the dining hall, and I try to get a pasty at least once each summer when we vacation in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, where Cornish miners apparently established that culinary tradition.
Looks like you have a productive pair today! I always enjoy glimpses of your Ulster BSA knife.

Thanks GT, it was! :) I had it in a place where they have 2 pies 'de jour' ;) :D I also like fruit pies too though :) You're making me hungry! :D

Niiiiiiiiice scout Jack :)

Thanks Tom, another great combo - and in Sheffield Wednesday colours! :D

That exudes character Gev :)

And now you're showing a beautiful old scout, too. Y'all have pushed me past my scout envy threshold. ;).

Thanks :D

That's an interesting new acquisition Glenn, I hope you managed to find out a bit more about it

Nice Ruler Knife Ken, whose the maker?

Thanks Gevo , Gt , and Jack Black for your comments on the old knife grinder that I showed yesterday and I will re-post a picture below . They were patented in about 1925 and there were a few vintages of them made .It is not the only one that I have seen but I have been looking for more in the shops just so I could get a couple more . I do not have any replacement stones when these wear out . I do not know what angle of grind that the stones are ground down to now nor do I know what they wear when new . There are some available if you do a search for DAZEY SHARPIT . I had used this to sharpen our knives for probably 20 years until about 3 years ago . It really is the Bees Knees for sharpening a HAWKBILL PRUNER .

Thanks for the extra info and pics Harry

Jack, Nice to see the Old Scout in pocket my friend:thumbup:

Thanks again my friend :)

Very nice sir

Welcome to The Porch Stan

Hope everyone has a great weekend :) I have these two trousered today ;)

TheChunck91,
Those are great knives. I really like the shield and bolsters on that Schrade.

Thanks for the interest on the ruler knife Jack.

The tang stamp is J. Clarke & Son, then something I can't make out but it looks like NSVA, then Sheffield.

The ruler is marked Chesterman Sheffield England.

Ken K.

That used to be called terrazzo. It was very popular for floors in office buildings in the 50s and 60s.

Today's knife content:

You are correct and some genius started making it in a mold, renamed it "quartz" and laughed all the way to the bank :D

A lot of ebony on that knife you have, looks like a comfortable user

Thanks again Gev and I agree wholeheartedly that the 13 certainly rocks! Here it is on some more man made material, rocking out :D

Thanks for the info Ken, quite a few members of my family worked at Chesterman's in the past, including my great grandmother and grandmother. They lived on the same street as the works, and before starting work there, my grandmother went to the school next door :) The company merged with John Rabone & Sons in 1963, so your knife predates that date.

The letters on the tang stamp will be N.E.V.A. which was one of John Clarke's marks. They also famously owned the 'William Rodgers' and 'I Cut My Way' marks. Stan Shaw worked for them for a time
