What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks for the additional info on the ruler knife Jack.

There is a name and a date that is marked on one of the sides of the scales. The date is 1896 and the name seems to be Fred Gee.

Is it possible that the knife can be from that age?

Is that on the inside or outside of the scales Ken? Would it be possible for you to post some more pics of the knife? I have several, but they are all different. Most have advertising for other firms on one of the scales, and others have one or more fold-out rules. I wasn't aware that the design went back that far, but both Clarke's and Chesterman's were well-established by that date. There are Ruler Knives in Smith's Key of 1816, but the rules are wooden.

Edit - Just found one in a Army & Navy Stores catalogue from 1907

I just love that knife - the jigging and color are a favorite - is it a New Day Barlow?

Hayn' Helper today. I used it to trim wood and slice open top soil bags for the raised planter that's getting ready for herb planting this weekend.

dispatch184,
I have never been a fan of green, blue, or yellow covers, but that is pretty. Thanks for showing me the way.

Here are a couple of knives I pulled out of the Planos when I got home from work today in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

Green, green, green, never thought it would look so good on (or behind) a knife, but it does for sure! I need to be on the look out for one next year.

Drew those translucent scales on your Northwoods are fabulous in 2D, can't imagine what they look like in hand.

GT Are you sure that RR is Irish? I'm having trouble discerning:D;)

My corned beef was in homemade hash at 6am today, work kept me busy the rest of the day (but I did have my trusty GEC 73 Scout cocobolo GAW with me!)

Can we please not quote the same post's pics over and over and over? I mean, yeah, that Menefee is awesome, and that GEC Pruner is nice, but we don't need to see them 4 fricking times on a single page. I'm sorry if I sound like a jerk, but in the Trad forum we try to be courteous to each other, and quoting the same picture over and over and over isn't being courteous. Scroll scroll scroll scroll scroll....

On a side note, I think I need to give Rick a call. Something about 3.65", give or take, in white Westinghouse micarta. When I have more money...

Excellent picture! Love the angle, it catches the depth of the jigging.

Got to wear the Sunday best today for a family party, so I'll be carry this light and slim antique.
