This Imperial came to me from a fleamarket seller. I got to talking with the guy, and when he realized I was a knife nut he wanted to see what I was carrying, so I showed him my powderhorn. He then told me he had some other knives and produced a roll of knives that he didn't display. this one had a snapped tip on the main, and a chip in the sheepfoot blade. He asked if I planned on using the knife, and I said yes, after I fix it up I would carry it. I re-profiled the tip, and took the sheepfoot blade in from the kick to eliminate the chip, these old blades were gound nice and thin, and take a wicked edge.

Carrying this (year) old Barlow today.
Beautiful patina!

Great story, and very nice work bringing that one back.

Great pic, the lighting really brings out that bone.

Amazing it is still in use at that age!

Always nice to see a well-used GEC.

Took awhile to catch up with all the knife carries this weekend, terrific as always!
Remington R4 scout. Looks like whoever was laying the barbed wire just called it a day and never came back.

Good observation about that wire. Makes one wonder about the story behind it.

This one today

And this one too ( re-cycled pictures )

Harry

Great pics, Harry. Both knives look superb.

I ignored this pattern, but after getting one, as usual, I now have 3. Such a solid knife I'm hand, IMO.

Carrying this (year) old Barlow today.

I can't decide if I like the green or red better. I love last year's NF 77s. I wasn't a clip point fan until last year's run.

That is cool. I'm amazed how y'all find these antique knives. I'm working on my patience and knowledge of how, but I'm afraid of getting a fake or something misrepresented.

Did you clean the rust of that awl? Nice classic you have there. Anytime my carbon steel rusts, I just spray it with CLR, wash it, blow dry it on the cool setting, and "Oil the joints."

For me today, it's the same knives, as last week. I'm in 'knife limbo' waiting for my Hawthorne Jack Clip. I plan on finally breaking out my Peachseed Jig TC #15, when my Hawthorne arrives. I've found that using a few knives of the same blade shape, helps me decide which is most useful and a favorite. Currently, my rotation.

I've taken, GT's approach to weekly carry...or 'so I think.' I'm rotating 3 knives for a week or more.

It's hard to kick these guys out of my rotation, until my new guys come.

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and have an excellent week.

I love that TC, beautiful spear bladed Barlows are hard to beat!

Thanks, Drew! +1 on spear bladed Barlows.

Gorgeous Remington Barlow, Gev, in a well composed photo!

I'm carrying this gorgeous olive green Farmer I received from GT today. What a wonderful gift from a great friend. He also gave me a Petoskey stone (something I saw all the time as a kid, but never kept one).

Thank you Gary. This one will be frequently carried.:thumbup:

Agreed. I have one as well, and while it wasn't sharp upon arrival, it was quickly made so. I wish all slip joint makers ground their blades like that.

Thank you kindly Dean and Gents :D's What a perfect Alox Dean ! Love the green and the stone is so

Intriguing knife, Pt-Luso!:thumbup: Do you have any idea what the maker's mark stamped in the blade represents (in addition to the company name)? I looked at the Farol website and saw that they have many knives with this handle shape, and that what appears to be a "mouth" for the whale is actually some kind of spring. Can you describe how that spring works, please?

- GT

Yes indeed it is an intriguing knife!
As for the mark stamped on the blade is a lighthouse house.
The mouth of the whale is even cut, however the knife has a spring that is not visible in the photo.
