What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Gev: You never cease to amaze. I can only quote sing lyrics?:D:rolleyes: Nice shot my friend.
I had to look it up again as I only had a vague memory of the words. I look forward to that anyway...it always leads to inspiration and discovery :)
Thanks for the compliment my friend ! It was a joy cleaning this one up and contemplating Emily's wit.

Beauty in verse and photo, Gev!:thumbsup:

Nice stag on this cold, wet May 13th! It warms my bones to see. Thanks Ron.

Alan, thanks for the compliment!!:)

Two wonderful knives, Jack. I hope your internet gets back up; it can be frustrating. We have periods where it slows considerably - usually when we need it. ;)

Today, I have my Calf Roper Slim and my favorite Vic Cadet.

Dean, that Slim is a super knife!!

Gev, you are a man of impeccable taste: in knives, in words, and, I suspect, many other things.

May I please ask for a bit of information about that breathtaking jack knife?

Much appreciated, my friend !

Thank you fine Sir! I appreciate your thoughts !

Your too kind ! Certainly...it's a Cattaraugus 21479 barehead jack. It is 3 and 3/16ths closed. Great walk and talk and missing half the pile side scale. A shame but only adds to its character.

It's Friday so everything is O.K.

Everything sure is OK with your old Barlows, Atiger! I tried "blowing up" the pic a bit; is the tang stamp Beekman??

....
Thank you x2, Gary. I'm not sure, but I think your gift of the Farmer has reignited my alox Vic obsession.:)
...
That is a beauty you have corralled, Atiger.
...
My humble carry for today.

Thanks, Dean, but I don't think "Alox Pox" needed my help; it's an incurable disease all on its own! ;)
O.K. , "corralled", I see what you did there, Dean, and I appreciate it! :D
As always, this Detroit Tiger fan appreciates anyone's black/orange combos!

Sitting in our cabin on the boat in Basel with my Ulster still . Unable to post pictures.

Harry
I am quite happy where we are right now . Just had some very nice Bratwurst with kraft and very nice local liquid . SWMBO did not want me to take a picture of my Ulster carver . This old Ulster has now racked 3 more countries on the bucket list. Tomorrow , we are headed to Dachau .

Harry
Great to hear you're having a good time, Harry! I hope you continue to enjoy a fantastic trip! Basel is Switzerland, right? Gonna pick up a SAK in its country of origin? ;) Basel was the birthplace of Leonhard Euler, the greatest, most prolific mathematician of the 18th century (and arguably #4 on most mathematicians' lists of the greatest mathematicians ever - and Euler was probably the "most normal" human being of the top math guys).

Gurdygurds, the GEC 25 models are often called Weird Little Stubby Things here on The Porch, but your modded Opinel is a very cool "honorary" WLST!

This has been in my pocket since I got it. It's Camillus TL-29 redone by Nick (birdvis on here). Natural canvas micarta with a black canvas micarta inlay arrow head shield and orange g10 liners. The blade has been modified with a swedge and a sheepsfoot with a little belly. I wanted to keep some of the original feeling of the TL-29 but a little more utility so I had Nick turn the driver into a bottle opener too. I love this knife.
That's a fantastic modified TL-29, LTSweeney!

...
Very nice muskrat Gary and great looking knife flatblackcapo.

These two today.

Have a good one!

Ken K.
Thanks for the muskrat comment, Ken. Your pair today are both classics, and the black/silver combo is just icing on the cake for me!

View attachment 707741 on The Porch from the porch this evening.
Excellent photo of a superb knife, Jake! Definitely starting to become "porch weather". :)

What sound does the sheep make? MAAAM!:D

...

I'm carrying my anonymous anchor knife today, and (inspired by Bob), my anniversary TC :)

So many interesting photos of your anchor knife, Jack, each showing off its grand grain! What's the yellow in the field in the background?

Thanks for the kind words my friend, hope you have a lovely weekend :)
Thanks, and same to you, Jack! :) The weather is supposed to be very pleasant here, but I fear I won't have much opportunity to enjoy it. I'm pretty tied up with end-of-semester madness at work, both last week and for the week ahead. 6 hours at the office this afternoon grading papers. :( But in a couple of weeks, I'm anticipating a couple of weeks of complete freedom! (How naive can I get??:p)

Great photo, as usual, Travman! Your dog changed color!!

Thanks, Gary. The cost vs value of these MAM knives just amazes me. These knives just flat out CUT!

I hope you folks have a great weekend. I am off to work but work today is going to a bike riding event with bbq and live music!
The MAMs are definitely winners in my book!
"That ain't workin', that's the way you do it.

Jus' sittin' in the dirt. Rollin' 'round in the sun.
IMHO, that's one of your best knives, r8shell!

.... Of course, there are a lot of things of which I am not aware:) Life is easier that way:rolleyes:
Amen to that; preach it, Brother Alan! :D

...
... and then I started working on sling-shot #2. My son has #1; this one if for my third child--she wants to be like big brother. My oldest (soon 10) wants me to make her a bow and arrows... it's going to be a busy summer. :D

Wait.. What? You're taking orders for handmade ancient weapons of war?? Where do I sign up???:cool::D

...
Today, I have my Calf Roper Slim and my favorite Vic Cadet.

Sweet pair, Dean! I have a red Cadet just like yours that is top-notch. Is the Slim single-spring? That's almost heaven!;)

Just spent an enjoyable 20 minutes resharpening my curly zebrawood Cattle King.

Looking great, Jeff!

This knife isn't really part of this week's rotation, but it's been hanging around my pockets or counters for a couple of weeks. It's a Marbles Workman series scout that Last Rodeo generously sent me just because I remarked that I was happy with a Workman series trapper I ordered recently and had the scout on my "buy next" list when he posted a pic showing that Colt and Marbles scouts were virtually identical. Thanks, Mike!!:thumbsup:

That's a sturdy looking Scout, GT. The G-10 covers suit it, I love the shield, and it even has a philips head
IMHO, that's one of your best knives, r8shell!
Thank you very much. I like to say that I'm artsy-craftsy, but not mechanically inclined, so as long as I don't have to disassemble/reassemble the knife, I can make it look pretty. I'm trying to decide if I want to do something similar with this old Hammer Brand Jack. Or I could just sharpen it up and carry it as-is. It's perfectly functional and would make for a very slim carry. :D

Yeah, this is going in the pocket tomorrow.

That sheepfoot joke made me laugh, Gary. You are right, work today wasn't really workin'
That is a nice looking Scout. It that G10 or Micarta scales?

Thank you very much GT, the yellow in that photo is a rape seed crop, pretty common in this area, with Sandal Castle above

Thanks again pal, sorry to hear you're having to work :( I'm hoping to get to a local history seminar if I can manage to find my way through the route of Leeds Half Marathon, which (along with a different event virtually every weekend) has cut me off from the city centre  Hope you've got something good planned for your break :)

Ye Olde Reliable ... GEC #66 Serpentine Jack

Still one of my faves... if not THE knife for me...

Great knife Andi, I was sharpening mine just yesterday :)

Have a great Sunday everyone

I'm carrying my Stan Shaw Sheepsfoot, and my Speaker Jack (thanks Alan) :)

Hmmm can't seem to get access to my PB account, will try and add pics later

Here we go ;)

I am totin' these two today:

Is that the bark river city knife? How is it for slicing? Is the stock thin enough that you can cut onions and a roast up in a pinch? I am thinking I need another all around utility knife and I do like those.

And where did you get the pocket sheath?

Thanks!

Yes .Basel is in Switzerland . We were not there long . We're in Dachau today and headed to Austria tomorrow with my old Ulster in a pocket. That old knife has been a few places .
They really do need to improve how to post a reply to a posting like your's GT .

That Hammer begs to get my Douk-Douk treatment. That is sandpaper and in the pocket.
The more I think about it, the more I like that idea.:) I could polish it to a shine, but I think it'll look best with high grit sandpaper. I've never handled a Douk-Douk, how thin are they? The Hammer Jack is 1/4" which is comfortable enough for a small pocketknife.

You're welcome Jack. Now I know what that sheepfoot is and perhaps why the marmalade in your other other photo of it?
