What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Thanks for the kind remarks GT !!!!
Yes !!! The ZERO indicates that it is a Wharncliffe Blade .

Harry
Thanks for the confirmation, Harry. Slowly but surely I'm retaining some knife information. :rolleyes:

5K Qs thanks for the compliment on the Lloyd. It's my least expensive custom but my favorite and most carried/used. I cannot remember who said "John Lloyd knives got soul" or I would quote their comment in my sig.
This one quickly took hold of me.
I only know what I see in pictures here, but John Lloyd does stag in a manner that certainly suits my preferences!! :thumbsup:

Looking good there GT! I'm sorry if I gave you a start! I do now remember that I posted that in the Davison thread. So, I think I have found my mind again:cool::rolleyes:
Thanks for straightening me out my friend:thumbsup::thumbsup:
:thumbsup::D Glad to be of assistance, Alan.

Those 2014 Forum knives were winners, and a bunch seem to be appearing here recently. Yours is sensational, Ron! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Carried both of these today : Re-cycled pictures

Harry
Outstanding, Harry! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Double your stag, double your fun!!

Some Calf Roping today...

That's a quality quartet, 007hunter! :thumbsup::cool:

Carrying this pretty but troublesome dark beauty.

Looking good, FBC!! :cool::cool: "Pretty but troublesome" - isn't that how it almost always goes?? ;)

The more I see that A Wright Lambs foot the more in love with it I'm gettin'. I was never fond of wood scales on traditional patterns, I like horn/stag, bone and plastic(celluloid) but that ebony with the silver hardware is perfect. I like the rat tail bolsters on most but the understated, bare bones materials were done and finished so well I could see it becomin' a common/workin' man's heirloom. Grandfather to grandson, fingered and pocket worn I'd love to see what character 30 years in a pocket would add to it. That one's gonna be make me smile every time I see it, thanks for sharin' @flatblackcapo and a great pic too. That's a wallpaper for the phone or tablet for sure.
I totally agree, Ted (although I'm a sucker for almost ANY black handles with silver accents). Like a woman with a "little black dress", a silver on black knife just looks dressed up, elegant , and sophisticated! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Yes and sharpened to a habenero shaving edge :eek: About 20 getting orange
Sounds tasty, Gev, but don't hurt yourself with those habaneros! :eek:;)

...
Thanks GT, you have some cool kitchenware this week my friend :) :thumbsup:
...
Thanks, as always, for your supportive commentary, Jack! :)

Carrying these two today, Todd Davison and Joseph Haywood :) Have a great Sunday folks :thumbsup:

Stunning pair, sir! :cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT, I've been going through a bit of a SAK renaissance lately, in my 'back to basics' kick - so I examine your Swiss beauties closely to educate myself further on different models.

I quite like how many of the Porchfolk have a favoured knife pattern you can instantly identify with them. Somehow I knew you'd be a MiniChamp man. (Not forgetting your Canoe patterns of course!) Do you find a use for every blade on it?

That Lambsfoot was a kind gift from Charlie Waynorth, earlier this year. (It's taken a little tea dunking since then.) I had it with me this weekend.

And this Huntsman came in the post last week, coincidentally on the same day you posted yours.

Congrats on the Huntsman, Chin! :cool::thumbsup: I like that model a lot (although I'd prefer the Fieldmaster, which substitutes a Phillips driver for the corkscrew - I just haven't found a suitable preowned model yet ;)). Thanks for the info on that Lambsfoot, and it's interesting that you had me pegged for a Minichamp guy. I carry it every day, mostly because it maximizes available tools while minimizing weight and volume. :) I've used every blade, but many not often. In this pic, the tools deployed are the ones I probably use most often (including the pen peeking out).

A couple of magnificent Cases they are!! :cool:

I picked this Boker Barlow up locally yesterday. This was the last one of this model, Grenadill Wood and 440C. There was several of the Bog Oak models available;). I have made a futile attempt to curb my knife spending until the Rendezvous. Oh well at least I had good intentions! :eek:

Congrats on the elegant Böker Barlow, Ron! :thumbsup::thumbsup: (See my comment on Ted's post above about the color scheme.) I have a new Böker baseball cap, so I'm gonna have to get serious about finding a knife or three of that brand! :rolleyes:

Today's carry :

Harry
I like your matched pair, Harry! :cool: I've never developed an appreciation for that light colored oiled bone myself, but lots of folks really enjoy it, and I'm happy for them!

Classic and classy, P&G! I'm a sucker for those EO spear/pen teardrop patterns! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Another distinguished example of the beauty of a silver and black knife!! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

I own a couple single blades on the #14 frame and wanted to try a two blade. This BEAUTIFUL oily bone presented itself in the exchange and I had to have it (thanks Dennis):thumbsup:

Just a lot of knife in a smaller frame, I do like this little knife.

I carry a MiniChamp on my keyring too. This should probably go in the "Did your traditional get a workout today?" thread, but:

On Friday, I was at breakfast with some folks, and the little screw and a lens fell out of one fellow's eyeglass frames. He was trying to fix it, and said, "Anyone have a knife?" The fellow I'd been comparing knives with and I put them back in our pockets as fast as we could. :eek: "You need a screwdriver." "I only need to use the tip of a knife." :rolleyes: The Minichamp saved the day when I managed to fit the tip of the philip's head/bottle opener tool into the teeny tiny screw head and get the lens back in.

I can understand anyone not really liking the Smooth Oiled Bone covers . I guess that I did not care for them too much until I bought the 77 Barlow one just because I did not have those Covers on any 77 Barlow yet . Once I got it in my hands , my opinion changed immediately . GEC does a very good job with them .

Yup, I use that same screwdriver on my Rambler to fix my daughters glasses all the time. That and I can still use it for far larger screws also.

The knife was a kind gift from Brumby53 that he restored from an old I.XL Barlow, I don't know the vintage.

The covers are some Gidgee wood, very hard and hard to find, which he collected from a dead Gidgee tree on his trip to the middle of a desert in Australia some 30 years ago. He reshaped the blade from Coping to a Sheepsfoot and semi-polished it. A small project left for me to finish off to a mirror polish. He even replaced the brass liners with new ones.

Thanks for the info :) That's a very generous gift :) I was intrigued by your pic (moved it forward - below) because only the bolsters looked to be original, both the blade and frame appear to be new :thumbsup:

Stunning pair, sir! :cool::thumbsup:

Thanks a lot my friend, hope you have a good week :thumbsup:

I'm sneaking off work to go for a hike today, thought I'd take advantage of the good weather we're having :) Carrying these two, A.Wright Lambsfoot and a Dutch Army Knife :thumbsup:

Thanks, Tom. Don't use your clever poetry to lure me over to the fixed blade dark side! :mad: Very cool pair of knives you have today, but I have to confess that the stones are just as cool!! :cool::cool: Didn't David the shepherd boy grab 5 smooth stones from a stream as he went to fight the giant Goliath? Are those the actual stones?!? :eek::thumbsup::D

Here are two knives that have been assigned to kitchen duty this week.

Thanks GT! Unless those stones somehow made it to a local hobby store, probably not :D. Someday I'll see you post a fixed blade, then the victory for the dark side will be complete. LOVE the shield on the RR :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Great pairing today Jack, the Dutch Army Knife is super cool :cool: :thumbsup:

I have these two with me today, I had to "trade" my girlfriend an orchid colored pioneer to get my orange version back, but it worked and we may have a new knife nut emerging :).
