What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

We had to make a decision on " lots of bite sized tomatoes " or " more green beans " . Winner = " more green beans "
Before :

Oh, I'm a little jealous. We had some green beans in late spring, but it's high summer now (106º today), and the bush beans are all burned up. :(

I drank about a gallon of iced tea while putting a razor edge on this tiny Klein lockback:

I can't keep this one out of my pocket. I am sure a lot of it is because I put the work in to it to add the Wenge scales that are surprisingly grippy due to the open grain (I think).
I will say I liked it before but I love it now.

The mention of 106 F makes me feel warm . We have been eating them now for a week and they will be picked again this Monday and Nancy will be canning some .

Totin this one today, doing some yard work before the 108 degrees coming up. Still can't quite believe that forecast in the Portland OR area!!

The one on the top. An AG Russell "War Eagle".
Well made and I particularly like that I can access the sheepsfoot with my right thumb. "440A" (7Cr17MoV) blade steel.

A man after my own heart. The sheepsfoot and main both being right hand opening is something that I adore. Moore maker stockman is the same way, as is the cattle knife case/Bose collab. I'm having a custom stockman built just for that reason (except you'll flip to the pile side for the wharncliff)! I thought I was the only person who noticed that on stockman lol.

Moore maker sheepsfoot blade works well for trimming upc's for kids school. Community coffee gives to schools for each turned in. And it's good coffee to boot.

Good on ya, Joey. We've collected a lot of Community UPCs at the project I've been working on over the last year.

I guess you could say today was Fremont Friday :)

Ron, I hope that knife brought you Blue skies, nothing but blue skies. ;)

This little guy today, one of my favorite watch pocket residents

Splendid small pen knife, oldtymer - Mellow Yellow.

Today I had my Case stockman Glennbad put stag covers on (and my CRK small 21) with me. :D

Saturday night's alright for stagging, Randy!

Opened up the drawer today intending to grab a TC and this one refused to be ignored. Every time I take it out its like I am holding it for the first time again =)

W:eek:W! Drew, with that out-of-this-world knife, you're a Space Cowboy! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: (I'll bet you weren't ready for that. ;))

I had the BFC GEC Stag Jack in my pocket all day today. The Fletcher Carniboro Cleaver is one of the best kitchen tools I have and although it's not pocket-able it is used every day so it may not be an edc in the traditional sense it's the edu (every day use) knife I go to most.

Ted, all I can say about your photo of the cleaver and the stag Forum jack is, "It's the berries!!" :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Have a great weekend everyone.

Wonderful Ettrick landscape, donn!:thumbsup::cool: Spectacular vista, but the incongruous barbed wire really hooked me!

Several oxhorn Lambsfoot knives have passed through my hands, and they have all had better horn than my own :)

Thanks GT, you're very kind :) The waxed cap sheds rain quite well. Thanks for the further explanation of your system my friend ;)
...
I'm carrying these two today, Have a great weekend everyone, I'm heading out of the door, but will catch up with y'all later :)

I appreciate your helpful comments, Jack! :) Two fine knives for you - something old, something new (relatively speaking).:thumbsup:

I'm starting off today with this 13 Tidioute Whittler in my pocket. :)

Striking knife, Ron!:thumbsup: "Red knife at morning, sailors take warning!" Isn't that how it goes?

Just got this Utica Cattle knife. It was in pretty rough shape but I got cleaned up and sharpened. I had to tighten the pivot a bit on the blade side and the spey blade had a small chip that I was able to get rid of. Has pretty good snap on the main blade and punch but the spey blade is a bit lazy. The main blade has lost some length due to sharpening but plenty of steel left.

Cool old knife

Congrats, Steve; that's one to write home about!:thumbsup: What are the covers made from?

Carrying this little Sodbuster that I just picked up. Simple, sturdy and not bad looking - seems like a good "grab 'n go" knife for most any task I'm liable to encounter. Good choice when not trying to make some kind of statement with the knife I carry. Or maybe simplicity IS the statement. Either way, I like this little knife.

Congrats on the chestnut jigged bone CV SBJr, Atiger!:cool: It's not a vintage Barlow, but it's quite a satisfying knife. I won one just like that in a BigBiscuit GAW. Although I'd have never bought one on my own at the time, when it arrived, it started an "addiction" for Case CV knives with chestnut jigged bone covers.:p:thumbsup:

The Case Sodbuster Jr is one of their best patterns and scale/cover combos ... because it just works. Add a Swayback jack and you have a unbeatable pair or traditional blades.

ETA, I changed the pic out for one in better focus.

+5K, Ted!!:thumbsup: When I first got mine (thanks, Bob & Paul), I was struck by how they're almost mirror images of one another (if you ignore the size difference and the SBJ pen blade):

That Queen looks tried and true, FBC!:thumbsup:

Sensational vista pict of your Case amber bone stockman, Mark!:cool::thumbsup:

Tyler, you've got a size for every occasion there!:thumbsup:

A custom and a Winchester scout today. Happy Saturday all :).

Pleasant pair, Tom!:thumbsup: I like seeing that scout with the French Ivory (Coast ;)) covers.

..., Lloyd Trapper (anyone surprised?) and a Bird and Trout in CPM-D2 and Amber stag bone from Tom Krein.

Gary, as always, I'm stunned by your Lloyd trapper, but I'm not surprised you're carrying it! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Had these 3 with me today . Case Saddlehorn and Case Russlock , both with Stag covers , and Case fixed blade.

Excellent knives, Harry, but the stag on the saddle horn is especially remarkable!:thumbsup::cool:

Yowza! I think Austin in July is a hostile environment for me!:thumbsdown:

I can't keep this one out of my pocket. I am sure a lot of it is because I put the work in to it to add the Wenge scales that are surprisingly grippy due to the open grain (I think).
I will say I liked it before but I love it now.

Great job of re-hafting your knife, FOG2; when you successfully make mods to one of your knives, it sure becomes more appealing, doesn't it?:cool::thumbsup:

I think I only have room for one or two more pics in this post, so I'll throw in this shot of 2 of my sodbusters, since so many sodbusters showed up today. The Case SBJr was in a belt pouch with my phone etc all week, and the JJ Martinez was on the kitchen counter all week.

Hey GT , if you can believe it I've actually use the tiny imperial 3 times today.
The first being to open a pack of crackers and the last to open some cookies.

BTW this is definitely more blades than I'd normally carry, but I didn't want to drop the sodbuster or 110 which I'm carrying to finish out my July knife challenge.
Next week will just be the camo classic and my pocket pal ( the tiny imperial is gonna be a constant so I've always some carbon steel on me )

These two for the rough start to the night at work. Although, the LBW collab is off to case. The main blade is off center touching off the clip, and the clip is slightly off and maybe touching the liner. And that's not acceptable for the price IMO. So enjoying it one last night before in the box she goes.

SVT, could you post another pic of that whittler and maybe a little info? Thanks.
That Queen looks tried and true, FBC!:thumbsup:
It is, it is... :)
