What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Even tough I'm still recovering from surgery, it feels great to be able to pick a knife each day to drop into my pocket. :D

Gary, how big is that RR Sodbuster? Looks like it came with a nice edge too.
Glad you're home and on the mend, Bob; that TC looks like it's a Terrific Companion for a swift recovery!
My RR large linerlock sodbuster is 4 5/8" closed. Like most Rough Riders, it comes with a pretty nice edge from the factory. As a novice sharpener and would-be whittler, I appreciate the relatively wide edge bevel characteristic of most RR blades. If my understanding of the geometry is correct, a wider edge bevel for a given blade thickness indicates a more acute angle, and that's what's recommended for whittling. And the wide edge bevel makes it easier for me to "feel" when I have the correct angle for sharpening; I can usually tell when that wide bevel is solid flat on the stone.

This Craftsman 9494 is one of my favorite interpretations of the Carpenter's /Whittler's Knife pattern typified by the Camillus 72.
Back to your promiscuous ways of different knives fro different days, eh, Greg?? ;)

... I dropped this XX Barlow in my pocket just in CASE I needed something opened. :)

Whiz-bang Winchester whittler, FBC; always a treat to see that one!:cool::thumbsup: (Not a keyboard forum - don't know why you're "getting the business" about your photo background!;))

What a stately, stylish stockman, Jeff!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Went through my deep breathing ritual today that I do before moving a TC from safe queen to pocket/use. ...

I'm off out for a hike today :) Carrying these two knives, gifts from two great friends from The Porch, who are lucky enough to be spending some time together :) I know they're going to be having a fantastic time :)

What a pair of magnificent, meaningful knives, Jack!:cool::thumbsup: I enjoyed your hiking mug shot in the eponymous thread!:thumbsup:

Bob Cleaning? That's a fantastic PATINA built up on that keyboard , really earned:D:eek:;) ...

Today, it's a Eureka Moment, no particular reason other that this is a fine pattern from GEC:thumbsup:

Regards, Will

LOT of spearpoint on display, Ron!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I don't have one, but it's hard for me to resist getting a blue bone Case with the red shield (probably a mini copperhead in my future). Yours is gorgeous, Tom!:cool::thumbsup:

Carrying this old O.N.B. barlow today...

Best of luck with the new shapening system GT; that RR looks like a great user.
...
Thanks on both counts, Tom. :) I haven't actually used that big RR sodbuster at all, but I have the RR "junior" version, and that's served me admirably! Cool "ebony and very" shot today from you!:thumbsup:

The collection as it stands today, minus two that I have ready to sell and a still missing TC Clip from the last run.

Carry the on far right today NF Barlow Nat Micarta

As usual another drop-dead gorgeous user, FBC!:eek::thumbsup: I guess I don't understand blade etches, though. It seems like on a lot of knives, the etch disappears (or fades significantly) with very little use, but your Bull Nose etch stand outs quite prominently even though you've got a substantial patina going there!

Thank you my friend, hope you're having a great vacation :) Yes, 'Tent' is one of the Richards marks, though I have mainly seen it on tools (as well as knives)

...
Thanks for the confirmation, Jack; that tent stamp is pretty cool!
Vacation is a bit less than ideal so far, since my wife had to stay home on Saturday because of a "medical crisis" with one of the dogs. But news was good at a follow-up appointment at the vet this morning, so she's planning to come join our daughter and me tomorrow.

...
GT, I very much like both of your carries today. 'Rough Rider': what a great name for a hard-working knife! It needs some patina. I suggest "a mix of Pop Tarts, chicken wings and frozen pizza with just a splash of RC Cola.";)
Thanks for the kind words, Tom. :) Your suggestion would hit the spot with my palate, but I doubt if it would have much effect on my stainless RR sodbuster!;)

Enjoy your vacation, GT!

Thank you very much my friend :) Yes, I think so too, a shame they didn't use it more  Hope it's plain sailing from now on  I don't think I've ever seen that model before, certainly noticed the lock anyway

Thanks GT. I like the RR. It's bigger than I like. Perhaps I'll look into the possibility that they make the Soddie Jr size.

I think I am going with the Bullnose today.

Great pic! I think I recognise that plant, it looks like the only plant I managed to keep alive when I was a student and living on myself. All the others died of drought or an overdose of water, but this one survived everything. If the leaves started to hang limp, I knew it needed a bit of water :) I still have it although sometimes my wife wants to toss it:eek:

Nice. I'm so on the fence. I'm trying to go more towards customs but I love that red. If it didn't have the pinched bolsters (or just pinched a bit different way), I'd be all over the blood red one.
Thank you Sir. This is my only 66, but could not pass on the Blood Red.
